I can still recall back in the day when I first used to visit Panera Bread on the regular around 10 years ago. At that point in time, it was this fresh, vibrant short-order hot spot with a healthy twist that didn't compromise in flavor. Today....it's pretty much like any other nationwide franchise. I dare go as far as to say they're quite pretentious, considering the elevated prices of their menu items. And it seems I'm far from the only one who thinks so. Firstly, I just wanna get this bit out of the way by saying...this rating takes into consideration the specific location, plus the fact that it IS just a chain after all. Having said that, this particular location was clean, presentable, easy to get to, and the staff seem to be on their game. We went with pickup for an impromptu lunch. This is where we get into Panera Bread as a franchise itself. As I tried one of their newest sandwiches, the ciabatta cheese steak, I can firmly attest that this sandwich is an accurate representation of PB's current state of caliber. Even though this one went down well enough and was even somewhat tasty, I definitely wouldn't order it again. For one thing, the sandwich lacked enough meat to sufficiently fill the baguette. However, I can almost look past this because there was something else that vexed me more. The onions were sweet. Like....hella sweet. Not sure where the garlic aioli went because I could barely taste it due to the overwhelming sweet-savory flavor of the onions. I briefly considered swapping out the provolone cheese for white cheddar, but I doubt it would have made a difference. I'm giving this one a 4 out of 10. Pretty weak sauce, honestly. Earlier, I briefly mentioned the inflated prices of this place and....yeah. That cheese steak wasn't worth the 14 bucks I paid for it. I can literally get a legit cheese steak from at least 3 other of my regular go-to stops for a few bucks less than that AND they give you more meat at those locations. See what I mean about this place being pretentious? I had a chance to look over their entire menu, to include the new additions, just in case I decided to return to try something else. Tragically, every other item looks as though it was put together in a factory somewhere. Their sandwiches remind me of those make-shift ones you find at truck stops and gas stations by the grab-n-go. It's all very generic looking. I can't really see any reason for me to continue coming back here. It just feels like a waste of my time now. I mean, when you consider how many budding local restaurants are pumping out way better food at much fairer prices, it's no wonder folks always say "eat local instead". I'm new to Panera so maybe my reviews are biased. I'm also from Hawaii where service and quality has slipped and continues to slip since Covid. In any case, 5-stars from me as this is a place I will definitely return to. Chose this specific Panera Bread because of the relatively good reviews. I'm in town to take care of college business for my kid, and we actually drove from Lowell into NH to eat breakfast here (the only Trader Joe's for miles is here too). I used the app to order our food while we were in the parking lot. By the time we got into the store, we waited less than 5 minutes before our order was ready for pick up. Everything made exactly as ordered. The ciabatta breakfast sandwich was better than expected. Good size to quell my appetite after 12 hours of travel! Coffee is better than actual coffee shops. What I love most about these Panera Bread stores (we don't got none in Hawaii) is how you can just chill, sip your coffee and eat. So relaxing. Sorry no pictures available. Panera used to be good... what happened? We didn't even speak to a human. The line was a bit long so we used the kiosks to self order. We grabbed 2 sandwiches and 2 cinna-somethings. The kiosk didn't give us a number or really any indication of how to know when our order was ready. We waited and waited and waited, looked over at the pickup window where every bag had a name on it that wasn't ours. Finally I notice a bag with no name on it, open it up to look inside, and low and behold it was ours. Our sandwiches were quite tasty and came with a drink and chips. I never really expect much from Panera but we're visiting here from PA and needed a quick breakfast. Long story short. Not enough employees, long lines, some cranky workers and the food(specifically the croissants) tastes OLD. The croissant literally crumbled in my hand. If you saw the Christmas eve Turkey dinner in "Christmas Vacation"... you're up to par. $17.00 for one croissant, one bagel and two regular sized chais was about 7.00 too much. We are on our way home from Lake Winnepesaukee and wanted to get something to drink. Because we are members of the free drink club, we decided to stop at Panera. We were about 30 minutes away and stopped at a rest stop and put our order in and requested pick up for 30 minutes later, which is how long the GPS said it would take to get there. When we arrived our cups were on the counter and ready to go. This is a very unassuming Panera. The façade is somewhat plain, but when you get inside it's very clean and large. My friend and I usually visited Panera at least 3 times a month for coffee and our usual chocolate croissants. This place seems always understaffed. My friend get pissed easily as his favorite hazelnut coffee always runs empty and he has to contact the staff to fill it. Then later he goes for a refill and the hazelnut urn is empty again. Also the half and half cream jug seems empty at times as nobody is monitoring the high demand of coffee drinkers. To say the least, they should have to make 2 urns for hazelnut coffee and maybe take out the decaf urn die to low demand. Also another thing to rant is the electric hand dryer is out of order again. If i could rate this a 0 stars I would. I ordered their new sandwich yesterday , the spicy steak on an asiago bagel, and let me tell you it was the worst mistake OF MY LIFE. My sandwich had lettuce spicy sauce and steak. When I received it, it had this odor that stunk like rotten feet, I figured it was just the spicy sauce they put on it, now I've realized something probably was rotten. About 4 hours after ingesting I started getting these AWFUL stomach cramps, then I began to throw up consistently. I was unable to sleep last night due to the constant waking up to vomit. I puked about 9 times in the span of these two days. I am pretty sure I either have received listeria (bacteria covered lettuce) or salmonella (bad meat). Extremely rude behaviour and irresponsibility towards customer. Placed an order in the restaurant on 07/26/2023 7:45PM and the staff gave a wrong one and upon request the order was corrected and was told only selected staff could issue a refund and it could take 2-3 days and I left the place with an agreement. After two days went to the restaurant for another order and upon asking for refund on initial order(as i got a partial refund), later the staff were able to find the agreement and wouldn't honour the rest of the refund and the staff got into debate and kept saying the refund was full and completed even after showing the transaction on my account and i had to leave with disappointment. Extremely unacceptable behavior from the staff, with this i hope the owner is aware of the ordeal they put me into. shockingly all this happened for less than $5 read more

I find this Panera excellent. We like to by large fresh loaves of sourdough bread and make sandwiches at home for a few days. We make a pick up order the night before and pick it up in the morning. When we have tried this at other Panera's most of the time we get there and they do not have our order or any loaves available. I visited Panera 3 days ago to buy some cookies. As I was walking in one of the employees cut right in front of me at the door, never saying "excuse me" or "I'm sorry". She didn't bother to hold the door for me!!! She was very young, with olive skin, dark curly hair and very long eyelashes. She basically went back to the front counter and just stood there. How rude she was!!!! I approached the cookie section and an older lady with strawberry blonde hair waited on me. After she gave me the cookies, she walked away without even offering me my receipt. She waited on 2 other customers before coming back to me to ask me what I wanted. I said "could you please give me my receipt"? She acted like I was asking for a kidney!!!! Again, how rude!!!! I try not to eat at chain restaurants; I prefer to support small independent businesses for many reasons I won't get into here. But I had a gift certificate to use up so it was Panera's for lunch today. A MAJOR disappointment. After I use up my gift certificate balance I won't be back for a long time, if ever. I got a Steak and Arugula sandwich. The steak was ok but that's about it. The arugula was horrible: wilted and spotted with yellow, dried out and none of the peppery taste of fresh arugula. And there was hardly any arugula - though given how poor the quality that was probably a good thing. The sauce was just weird. It was white so I expected it was some sort of flavored mayonnaise - horseradish perhaps? But no spice flavor. And it was not mayonnaise; it tasted more like yogurt-based like you might expect on a gyro. Totally out of place in this sandwich. The bread was terrible, with hard rubbery crusts that separated from the slice when I bit into it, and hard to chew. You get this and a small bag of chips for $9-something. It was pretty moderate in size, and way overpriced for the quality. Their selection is extremely limited; if you want a sandwich you're limited to like 8 choices. And most of them are the same as I remembered from my last visit over 5 years ago. You can get more choices in almost any Pizza/Sub shop anywhere. One more thing: I got in the line that said "Order Here" only to find out it was the wrong line. ("But it says 'Order Here'." "No, it says 'Pickup Order Here'." "Oh, so where do I order?" The salad was delicious (Asian Sesame Chicken - totally recommend), however the Turkey Apple Cheddar sandwich was sopping wet. I mean, dripping. It was disgusting. I don't know what the hell they did to this sandwich to make it wet... But this meal was 100% not worth $12+. I would give this location another chance, because the food was good despite its flaws... Me and my friend love this place. It's fast food so you can't expect it to be phenomenal, but the mac and cheese is very well known here for being delicious and the mango smoothie I usually get, always tastes very smooth and fruity. I've always gotten the mac and cheese here, but I know that the iced tea they've got is pretty good and their sandwiches are decent. If you come here, you MUST get the bread as your side. I got food poisoning yesterday from this location. I had cream of chicken and rice soup and half a bacon turkey Bravo. 20 or more minutes after I ate I was pretty sick. I expect more from Panera Bread. I'm not saying it was life-threatening Illness but it was multiple trips to the bathroom in a state of emergency sick. That's about as graphic as I'll get for Yelp. This occurs when the proper food handling procedures aren't followed. Either the soup was left out for too long or the turkey or even the lettuce or the bins that they were in. The Worst case scenario was that one of the employees that handled the food didn't wash their hands after going to the bathroom and unfortunately that's how hepatitis A gets spread which causes the symptoms I had. Lobster meat is pretty poor quality- lots of claw tips not sweet at all. Also, the bread is not toasted. All in all pretty bad for the money. Stick with a standard NE lobster role. As far as chains go, Panera Bread is convenient for a good, hot, and filling meal after a five hour drive from New York City. Harkening back to my time spent at the Panera in Enfield, CT during my college days, there is something nostalgic and comforting to me about their French Onion Soup. It's so rich, the portion size is excellent, and the side of bread served with it is always the perfect addition. This location was set in an odd shopping plaza, but convenient enough to get to. Though fairly crowded, I got my lunch in less than four minutes. Good turnaround! I did appreciate the large windows and expansive eating space, and props to the "bar" area with a strip of power outlets. After a mini-road trip, my iPhone and I were both in need of lunch.
