We are big Panera fans and tend to look for them when we travel so that we have a dependable meal. This location is much better than it was. It went from excellent to bad to now....improved. It's clear they went through some staffing and management changes and are on the upswing again. Whew, that was a close call! The kids are constant on their order of grilled cheese or buttered noodles. They love the organic yogurt tubes and are always clamoring for a smoothie or a cookie..... Or a cupcake. I'm in love with the tomato mozzarella panini sandwich. But I'm a frequent salad and soup girl. Hubs is a frontega chicken kinda guy. So sad to see the decline in quality! I purchased aTurkey Bravo, and by the time I got to my home (10 minutes) the sandwich was soaked on one side and stale on the other. The bread is half the size of what other Panera locations serve, the turkey was wet and had a very distinct chemical taste, the bacon was inedible, the cheese was missing and no pickle added. I used to eat lunch here 5 days a week because I work down the road and they have delicious and fast food service. The staff is friendly and efficient, my food often came to the table way faster than I expected, even when it was busy. I love that this location brings the food out for you. It's a much better experience than the locations that scream out your name when your order is ready and you go get it. This location is not vegetarian friendly, and that's the reason I will no longer be going here. Multiple times, my salad had chicken added when there wasnt supposed to be. Of course, they always fix it, but last time I was there they somehow ended up with bacon in my strawberry poppyseed salad. Panera is always good and this location is always friendly and consistent. My go to is always a Greek Salad and Broccoli Cheddar soup. I wish they wouldn't use pickled red onions (weird flavor combination with the dressing), but I easily sub those out for regular. The customization is probably the single feature that keeps me a consistent customer. read more

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Panera Bread is by FAR my favorite chain restaurant out there. Their soups, salads and sandwiches are consistently GOOD, and when I try new items, they never cease to exceed my expectations. I can never go wrong with the Italian Combo sandwich and a bowl of broccoli cheddar soup. They also have incredible clam chowder (only served on Friday's) and a great tomato soup. I also thoroughly enjoy the Asiago Roast Beef sandwich and the Frontega Chicken. My girlfriend will go on record saying that the Asian Chicken Salad is among her favorite salads in existence. I'm not a giant fan of their breakfast/bagels (for a better bagel, try Mannie's in Lake Orion), but their coffee and cafe drinks are amazing--I'll take them over Starbucks any day--if only they could add on drive-thru. So, as someone predisposed to hate chain restaurants, Panera Bread I cannot hate--in fact I love it. Oh, and did I mention they have free wi-fi! Just watched the help poor a bucket of bleach water into the cooler and splash it all over the food on the prep line. I asked what was in the bucket and they said "sanitizer and it is the same stuff they clean the prep surface with". When I asked to speak to the manager she came over and said she was cleaning the mold out of the pop machine and knows the help is bad but she couldn't stand the mold inside the machine any longer. Really? The dinning area was filthy. The manager refunded our money and said she knows how dirty the restaurant is but cant find good help. Hello, maybe she should lead with example. I absolutely love Panera Bread. The food, service, hospitality, almost everything about the company. Even when mistakes are made to my order most restaurants correct it and offer something additional for free, such as a bagel or pastry however that is not the case with this one in particular. This is one of my least favorite Panera Breads restaurants I've been to as they seems to always forget something in my order or make it wrong. I understand when the restaurant run out of certain things but it happens too often at this location and service is not as good as it should be. Ordered online for Rapid Pickup and order was Correct, Hot, Fresh and staff was friendly. Men's Bathroom (I know that is not PC now with the 33 different supposed "Genders" now) was very clean and I had NO Issues! Not sure what was going on here during the other times that caused the previous customers to post such negative reviews but, I know how the employee turnover is and maybe the crew is much stronger now and management got their act together and took note of the customers poor reviews!? Panera is my absolute favorite restaurant ever. I always come for the exact same thing: roasted turkey and avocado BLT, and the broccoli cheddar soup. Tonight I came in and ordered my usual, and when I came up to the counter to get my food, I was told that there was no more broccoli cheddar soup. They filled the bowl of the person who ordered AFTER ME, but couldn't fill mine? Why tell me when I order that there's enough soup and then as soon as I get my order there is none? This Panera is the worst! My family stopped by to have dinner before going to the hospital to visit our son. We all ordered the pick two. They totally gave my granddaughter the wrong order twice. She never ended up with her sandwich. My husband's chicken noodle soup was all broth. By the time I got done running back and forth to straighten out the order I had no time to eat. For 31.00 it was the worst experience I have ever had. When I asked to speak to the manager she could not be found. I tried to call a couple of times, there is a line directly to her and it was never answered. This site is poorly run and disorganized. I'm not sure why I bothered coming to Panera since in general I've had so many poor experience with them but I figured I'd give this location a chance. Unfortunately I will never return here or another Panera again, they simply don't provide quality food and experience for the price you pay. I did a half and half meal salad and soup and bought a kids meal for my son roughly $24 total including drinks and a cookie to share. First off, they got my order wrong which they quickly fixed but what I actually received was lacking. My order of salad was half of their half size bowl and came with a really dirty spoon. My child's grilled cheese was burned cheese to one piece of bread and a sad yogurt. Although they try to put in on a fancy plate they place it on some gross piece of corrugated cardboard as if they are placing on some contemporary piece of art...it's laughable and gross and comes across as sterile medical trash at the same time, maybe that's how aliens eat food, I'm not sure. Lastly the cookie that came as an upgrade was uncooked, very not safe for both a young toddler and a pregnant woman. I'm very disappointed with this experience along with others. This location has good food but some of the stupidest workers. I frequent paneras often and get the pick two with soup in a bread bowl. The girl behind the counter (small girl with brown hair and clumpy mascara) told me I'm not allowed to have a bread bowl with a pick two. When I informed her that I get it all the time and that it's usually just a dollar or so upcharge, her response was that there's no button on the computer for the bread bowl with a pick two, so I can't have it. I was in a hurry so I changed to a salad, and some weirdo behind the kitchen counter was loudly and horribly singing some God awful song probably thinking he was being entertaining in a positive way but I thought quite the contrary. It's a chain so your differences among locations fall into these categorkes: quality of staff, cleanliness / layout and freshness of the food. This location is great in all but one, layout. The place simply lacks enough outlets and is frustrating. I have come up with a personal business rule. If I am at a place to do work on the fly and cannot find an outlet I spend my money elsewhere and leave. In this day and age that is expected as a norm. So if I walk in and no outlet, my money goes out the door with me. Panera and any chain should have outlets at every table or risk watching customers leave without spending their money. read more

I placed a rapid pickup order for 2pm about 35 minutes ahead of time. I arrived right on time at 2pm but there was nothing on the rapid order shelf so I patiently waited until 2:10 before I asked the cashier where my order is. She said I should check the normal pickup counter where people eating in have their food come out. When I asked them, they gave me a bag that had been sitting on the counter for who knows how long because they never called my name for it or made any sort of announcement that rapid order would be there. The girl told me they didn't have anyone available to take the order to the rapid pickup shelf. That is completely unacceptable to have had my good sitting there for probably 15 minutes and get cold by the time I ate it!!! I spent $15 on today's order. To make it worse, I asked her where my smoothie is and she looked puzzled. They hadn't made it because they didn't read my order so I had to wait another almost 10 minutes for one smoothie to be made. Unbelievable. Won't be coming to this location again! read more

Every single time I have gone in this place I have experienced some of the stupidest people. Now, in the past I have always gone to the Waterford location and have always been happy with the service that I had received there. I figured that the Auburn Hills location would be the same, but boy was I wrong. I went in there around lunch time, and I had no problem with the long wait because I at least figured the wait would be worth it. I ordered a barbecue chicken salad without the corn blend or the onions. While I was waiting in line for my food to be ready, the cook called me over and asked if my order was correct by saying just the salad with the chicken and the dressing and I responded with "yes, just a plain salad." Anyway I usually check my food before I leave but this time I didn't, but only because I felt confident with what the cook and I talked about. I get home and end up my bag to only see chicken with barbecue sauce and not any lettuce in sight.... I thought it was common sense to include lettuce when I specifically asked for a salad but apparently I need to go into explicit detail if I ever step foot in there again.
