I love Hungry Howie's pizza, but haven't ordered from them in a long time. I usually get Domino's for a couple different reasons. First off, Hungry Howie's pizza is good, but price wise, it's a few dollars more than Dominos. Their store is easy to locate off Rochester Road and they have a variety of menu items to choose from. Unfortunately, they do not have any good carryout specials and I don't order from them often enough to save their coupons. Staff is friendly enough, and my order comes out exactly as ordered. I would be more excited to order from them if they were slightly more competitive. I see they have an app, but Domino's seems to be way more ahead of them in regards to price comparison and deals offered. But, sometimes I have to mix it up. There's not much to brag about here. Decent, light crust that's not heavy and the cheese and toppings were mediocre. The sauce was tangy, but nothing really to write home about. Their large consists of 8 relatively large slices. You need to eat this while it's still hot and fresh, as the cheese tastes chemically when cooled. I tried calling them and as soon as someone answered they said "We're not taking anymore orders tonight." and hung up! She mentioned how for some reason my original price of $22 or so was the bill I was like well I have proof that it should be $18 or so. So +1 for sweetness. Now on to the pizza. I have never had anchovies on my pizza. Never wanted anchovies on my pizza. I do not see many places doing anchovies on pizza. BUT. What better way to do vday than to serve up dry salty fish for your man on pizza???!!!!! I was like why not $6 pizza who cares my kids are going to nibble here and there anyway let's just go for it. Usually it is just pepperoni, or meat lover for the kids but today I just threw random stuff on the hearts. Pineapple and beef on one. Anchovies and sriracha another. Steak and jalapenos on another. Okay Howie is very generous with toppings! +1 for that. Now for the taste. Yes I know this place isn't gourmet. BUT I do not think pizza toppings or crusts should be as salty as these pizzas were. Man i got garlic herb crust and one cajun seasoned crust and it was just dipped and dunked in a salt tub it seemed. It was unbearably salty. After using this Hungry Howies location exclusively for eighteen months, I will not return! My father (91 years old) asked me to pick up a pizza for him because he heard about the 45th anniversary deal being offered. I called "my" location to see if they were a participating location. They assured me that they were, but I would have to order online. Not a problem, I always order online. I logged in but found no special deal on the websit for the $0.45 pizza offered. I then called back to the store to ask for the coupon code because it was not on the website. The person who answered told me to just use a particular code and if that didn't work they could adjust the bill when I picked up the pizza. Perfect! When I got to the shop the bill was wrong as the code she gave me did not work. I explained what the problem was and that I had been told they could correct it. A manager was brought out and he said there was nothing he could do because they didn't even have the code and "it should have worked because we've been selling them all day". They won't be selling another pizza or anything else to me ever again! Whatever happened to "the customer is always right"? Having a craving for pizza on an early Thursday afternoon, my sister and I went online and ordered a medium pizza and breadsticks from out local Hungry Howie's. We came into the shop to pick up our order a half hour after the order was placed to find out our order had not even been made yet and it would take an extra 20 minutes. While waiting, we heard the employees behind the counter answer a call from a customer who had ordered delivery that hadn't been sent out yet and they asked if she could pick it up herself. About ten minutes later that women came in for her food she ordered over an hour ago but they had sent it out for delivery. And believe it or not, that wasn't the only situation like that. They got two more delivery calls where they told the customer that the food was ready but hadn't been sent out yet so they were going to have to change the delivery to a pickup. They didn't even tell us when our food was ready, we only got it when we eventually asked about it and all they gave us was a "Sorry about the wait." To say the least, I was very unimpressed with the customer service and my overall experience at this Hungry Howie's. However I do give this review 2 stars because the pizza and the Howie Bread itself is good. They do a nice job with their specialty crusts and don't take it lightly on their toppings. read more

On January 23rd I had placed an order online for 2 medium pizzas and 1 Howie bread. I actually thought I had placed order at Troy location on Rochester where I usually order my food from but this time I apparently picked the wrong location. (what a big mistake that was). I got my food. Went home to start eating only to find long blonde hair all through my pizza. That was so nasty! we took the pizza and bread and threw it in the trash. I called Hungry Howie's to let them know about my Pizza. The lady that answered my phone was very nice and was sorry about what had happened. She offered to replace my order for me. She told me that the next time I called my credit would be under my name. On February 17th at approximately 3:30 PM I called to place my order and I let the guy know I had a credit. The guy told me that I didn't have a credit. I asked to speak to a manager. Big mistake that was! I'm not sure if he told me his name was Bill or Phil but anyways He was very dry and rude. I explained the situation to him. He told me he didn't find me in the system. I gave him the date and time I was up there. What I had ordered. The purchase amount. My credit card number I had used that night. But again he insisted that I wasn't telling the truth. I asked for the owners name and to speak to him.
