We have frequented this store since it opened and have mixed reviews. There was a time a few months ago that I could get consistent food and service. Now, not so much. My latte sat on the take-out shelf for the sever for 15 minutes today because there was no ticket. I had to finally go get it and heat it up in the microwave. This is typical. The same thing happened to a lady at an adjacent table. The turn-over in staff doesn't help. No one really seems to know what is going on. The wait time for anything is much too long. Had some lunch at the Oro Valley store. Not impressed by them. The Italian flat bread was very hard and not much meat. Also not much dressing so it was very dry. For the money you should get a pickle spear not just a pickle splinter. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich which you could wring out. It was like the chicken salad had been sitting too long and the mayo had separated and the water was dripping out all over the plate. Had to mop up the plate to set the sandwich down between bites. Have eaten at other locations with better food. Won't be going back. read more

This particular location is great. I went during the lunch rush and was very impressed with the staff. They are like a well-oiled machine! The manager stood at the pick up window and double checked every order and greeted customers. This is one of my favorite chain restaurants. I most enjoy the Asian chicken salad (fresh leaf lettuce, cilantro, almond slivers, chicken and wonton crisps with a sweet & tangy vinaigrette). The Mac and cheese is a bowl of carb-y joy and the creamy tomato is my favorite soup. read more

Our family has been by this panera several times for lunch & dinner. Be careful in the drive-through as the order seems to come back incorrect about 25% of the time. Went to breakfast (indoor) last Sunday. Cup of mocha came with side of avocado and tomato :( Outside of cup was so dirty that it was surprising no one noticed. Sent back & finally brought to me after we finished breakfast. No offer to Comp. I will say that most of the people working there are very nice but one of the managers can be a pill. We've been back several times because the food is really good (& aren't a lot of choices Oro Valley). Will amend our review if experience improves. read more

I think they may have some staffing issues. I went through the drive through around 5 pm on a Thursday night and ordered two sandwiches. The voice on the speaker informed me I would receive my total at the window. Ok. I pulled up to the window and no one was there, inside seemed dark, window closed. After 3 minutes, someone finally walked up to the window, tossed my bag with my sandwiches on the counter and proceeded to ring in my order into the register. Once completed, then she greets me with "that will me $17.89..." I suppose the courtesy could have been worse since it appeared she was the only employee performing each position but the sandwiches also appeared slapped together and in disarray. I ordered the Thai Garden Chicken Wonton Bowl. The broth was salty. The wonton filling seemed mealy in texture; I guess that was minced chicken the wontons were stuffed with. I tried to apply here & I called back 2 days later to check up and one of there employees Carly told me they were on there lunch break and that someone would call me back after... they never did. So I then called the next day to see if they were ever gonna call me back and the same bitch Carly talked to me very disrespectfully and like I was stupid just for asking if they had seen my application. This location is wonderful I used them for my Christmas catering. I'm a marketing manager of a local business and contacted their catering manager Kayla about putting together 9 custom pastry towers to give to my customers as a thank you gifts for the holidays. Kayla was wonderful and helpful I met with her beforehand to drop off stationary, pens, and other logo printed items with your companies information on them that she incorporated in with Panera's gift towers. The prices were competitive with other businesses offering holiday baked good baskets. Kayla offered me a variety of different options and worked within the budget that I had set. She called two days before to confirm my order and processed payment quickly. She had everything wrapped and ready for pick up the day that my order was promised. All of the towers were bagged and packed with silverware and plates. After dropping the towers off to my customers they are very pleased with what they had received stating that the coffee cake and the mini cookies were amazing. I was very pleased to hear that everything was fresh and baked with care. We will definitely be using this Panera location again for our catering needs. I was kind of skeptical of eating here after looking at the reviews, but was glad I did. I came at breakfast and ordered a sausage, egg, and cheese sandwich with coffee. I admit the restaurant was not packed and I was a little surprised being Saturday morning. My order was taken and I was served in a timely manner. The sandwich was hot and freshly made. Altogether, a pleasant experience. I even ordered a cinnamon roll from their baked goods and it was a hard decision to make given all the items looked tempting. I definitely will be back read more

I have been to many other Panera locations in the past, usually with great food and service. Let me tell you - this location is terrible! I ordered 4 things online, before going in to pick it up. They accepted credit/debit cards online, and I payed in full before going in. I was in and out pretty quickly, them giving me a wrapped bag of food and the normal pleasantries/thank you's. When I got home I noticed they didn't even put half of my order in there! 2 of the ordered items were missing. I checked the online receipt, and sure enough I had paid for them, so I called in to which they told me i could drive back down and pick up what they forgot. I reiterated my order (the things they had forgotten), to which they told me they were out of those item (despite letting me pay for them online, and letting me walk out the door with them on my receipt). I eventually got a refund, but their business ethics will be remembered. This location has proven themselves - to me - to be extremely sketchy. I've never written a review before, and went through the effort of making an account, just so I would be able to share this experience. I love Panera Bread for all occasions but mostly when following a low calorie diet. Today I decided to eat there with my daughter. The food was excellent however I decided to get the hibiscus seasonal tea, unsweetened. I looked in their menu and it said the seasonal teas were zero calories. I decided to double check with the hostess/dinner room gal and she came back to inform me that it did have calories but they did not know how many. It was a little frustrating since I read something else and they seem to list calories for most everything else but did not know about the tea. read more

Second time I have been here. Both times order was messed up. They appear to have no quality control over the kitchen. Waited 30 minutes for a breakfast sandwich. Mentioned that they would provide some sort of discount and they did refund the bill. read more

We are familiar with Panera and were disappointed with the food. The service was good and the supervisor kept things moving even though they we very busy. One small mistake with the order but well within expectation for a business open only a week. However All the food was Very bland across the board. This location is a hot mess! Every single time I get something through the drive through it is incorrect. On Friday evening I ordered items from the drive thru including deserts and sandwiches. I didn't check anything but to make sure there were the items in the main bag. The order was screwed up! I called the manager and he agreed to refund me if I came back in. Unfortunately I live a significant distance from there. When I went back in 2 days later on my own time, with a reciept, to get a refund the manager offered to just replace the items that they were missing on Friday night. Mind you it's 10 a.m. In the morning and she wanted to give me a sandwich instead of refund me my money of all the missing item after I drove my butt all the way back... no sorry, no here is a scone, no nothing... If you decide to make the horrible decision to have a meal at this location, make sure you look over all of your items in detail before pulling away. Trust me you will end up disappointed. read more

Recently I made a rapid pick up online order and it took a total of over 35 minutes for my order to be prepared. Aside from having to take out a second mortgage to eat here, the food's really good! This is a treat for us because they're overpriced, but when we go, we love it. I'm a regular Panera goer. This was my first, and could very well be my Only visit. Tried to order online ahead of time - the menu option for the turkey sand said they were out of some ingredient for the sandwich. I decided to drive to the location and just order the good ol fashioned way. Arrived to a smiling face ready to take my order. I asked if they were out of an ingredient for the preferred sandwich (Per the app) and she said, "nope, that's strange. We are not out of anything." Great! I ordered, added bakery goods and asked for my order to be packaged to go. I waited near the kitchen, watching some staff serving others waiting in the dining room; some other employees standing at the window conversing (one may just be arriving or leaving and appeared to also be waiting for a meal). Lot of chatter, slow moving kitchen to turn out meals overall. I heard my food was ready as the kitchen staff said my name and was putting the final touches on the bag. I waited a minute and decided to interrupt the three Panera shirts standing at the food counter in front of me, to say, excuse me, I think that's my order?? No one moves, everyone looks back and says, Oh, ok....I have to reach thru them to get my order and said thanks - have a good day! Upon arriving back at my home nearer Catalina, I opened the salads and was completely disappointed. The "large" salad was not even half full. I'm not kidding there was so little salad, it barely covered the bottom. The chicken and fruit was there, just barely any lettuce. Container was less than half full. My pick two meal, that salad box was also less than half full. Ridiculous. I called the store to let them know I was disappointed. I was instructed to drive back.....sorry, no time for that. Are you the manager? No, I'm the supervisor currently, the manager will be in shortly. Great, will you please ask them to call me? Well, our policy is to have you come back; you don't have to come right now but you need to come in. I'm sorry I really don't have time to come back; I live in MN *like many, many many others in the area, and we are packing to leave. Can you please have someone call me back? Sure......takes number and as I expected; no one ever bothered to call back. poor service all around (except for smiling gal at the front who was super welcoming and friendly! $25 plus for two containers that would not equal one large salad. I've learned my lesson and will stick with the Panera locations I know I can count on - for food quality/quantity and a staff that understands the value in and how to serve their customers. read more

Love the bread and pastries and, for the most part, the entrees too, although I find myself ordering salads more than sandwiches/paninis. However, having to wait in line for what seems an eternity (25+ min!), because they have only one person working the register and at least fifteen people wanting to order, is unacceptable. This place is a sinking ship. I have been coming to this place for quite some time now, and its clear from other reviews that this particular location is no longer holding water. The past couple months, the food has been less than satisfying, the sandwiches don't have as much meat as they used too, and the baked items lately have been undercooked. Do they really expect me to eat something that will make me sick. I routinely bought cookies for my staff at work and lately they have been shrinking in size and taste., maybe this is a direct result in the minimum wage hike, but to raise prices and shrink your food items is not the way to go guys. Let's talk about the service., you have workers texting on their phones, you have lines going out the door, and there is only one cashier. One such worker Mindy which I have noticed many times walking around dazed and confused., my god wake up and drink some coffee lady, your losing customers. I spoke to an employee and it turns out she is a supervisor which asks the question, who in their right mind would hire someone as a supervisor who obviously doesn't have any experience in the food industry much less customer service. I spoke to her once about the line and she yells at another worker to help out, rather than getting her head out of the clouds and actually do her job. Did I get an apology or response to the long line, it's not like the food is free., I have many choices within walking distance or across the street and I don't think it's worth your time or money to be subjected to this place. Wow, what a disappointment. Finally decided to check out the new Panera Bread in Oro Valley today for lunch. First, the young lady taking our order acted like she would rather be anywhere else than work. No smile, no enthusiasm, had a hard time answering questions about the menu. Made it clear she was annoyed by our even asking a question. My wife ordered the chicken salad sandwich, I ordered the smokey ham and cheese. The portion of chicken salad on the sandwich was pathetic. The little plop of chicken salad in the center did not even cover half the sandwich. My ham and cheese was just ok at best. The cheese was obviously old as the outside edges were dried and dark. For a business with "Bread" in their name I was expecting some pretty good "fresh" sandwich bread. NOT! Panera Bread is no a cheap lunch place, which is fine, but one should get excellent quality and service for the price. We received neither. Neither of us finished our sandwich, we ended up driving down the street to Sprouts and got a couple of sanwiches there. Much better quality and a better price. Hey Panera Bread, if you would like to know what a quality chicken salad sandwich taste like go to Sprouts and try one of theirs and see if you can come close to replicating it! Will not be back to Panera Bread, Oro Valley deserves better. read more
