Stopped into Redbird for the first time for a quick lunch and had a great experience. The food was spectacular across the board. I especially liked the black bean burger which was hands down the best black bean burger I've ever had. The Redbird margarita is one of the better margaritas I've had in a long time with a perfectly balanced salty, sweet, heat chile/salt rimmed glass. Our server Jhelsy was on top of things from start to finish and made the experience with two five year-old girls in tow as easy as it could be. We'll be back without a doubt. read more

What a fantastic experience! I've been in Tucson for a few days and have managed several spectacular meals. Redbird tonight was a 10 out of 10! From our welcome when we arrived to our waitress, to the food, everything was perfect. With so many choices on the menu we decided to do our own version of "tapas" by ordering several items off the menu starting with the Mac and cheese. I've never been a huge fan of this staple but the way this dish was prepared was wonderful just the right amount of cheese, coupled with the correct pasta to hold that creamy goodness. We followed that up with the Green chile bacon waffle fries, a perfect mixture of ingredients that made the fries "flavor carriers", not just fries! A side note on the fries, I've had thousands of fries in hundreds of joints. You can always tell when they are using fresh oil in the fryer. Judging by the light taste of these waffle fries, I'd bet on daily oil changes. A HUGE and welcome difference. Our entrees, Carne asada tacos (chile roja), Early bird burger and Harvest salad were all equally delicious. A perfect burger, mouthwatering tacos and a fresh salad made with high quality ingredients complemented each other perfectly. Lastly, my house margarita with tajin was light and refreshing. Not super sweet nor overpowering, I recommend it. The bottom line, make a reservation and eat here. You will not be disappointed. Came here on a date! It was okay. The layout is cramped and it's loud. The ambiance is confusing and reminds me of a Chili's but cramped and brighter. I initially ordered the loaded wings in the jerk flavor. I tried the jerk sauce before ordering which was great. However on the wings not so much. There were a few issues. 1.) I asked for the wings fried hard. When they came out room temperate, I imagine that they have wings pre-fried hard to keep up with service which is gross. Also the wings are not cooked in the sauce so although the sauce was good...the under-seasoned wings paired with the sauce made for a not so good combination. I sent everything back and went for the Nashville got chicken sandwich which was SPICY but man was it GOOOD. I would definitely order that again. My date got the harvest salad with shrimp which was okay. It has some exciting things in there but the shrimp were essentially popcorn shrimp which I think is inappropriate for a restaurant this expensive. I orders two margarita. The first was perfect but the second was off. Almost as if a blanco was used for the first and mezcal for the second. It needed to be remade. Drinks were solid. Food was surprisingly good, I didn't have any expectations. It was a last minute choice for dinner. The elote nachos are not to be missed and I'm not a huge nacho person. Typically, nachos have some toppings and the bottom is all chips, not here. The sauce and toppings went all the way to the bottom, they layer it in. I have never had nachos as good as these, they are the best nachos I have ever had. The corn was super sweet, spicy peppers mixed in and the queso was the creamiest. The amount of effort and dedication to the quality and flavorful toppings and sauces was insane. The Sonoran burger was excellent. Large and juicy patty with creamy cheeses and a spicy chile. The bun was soft and buttery. Overall really good burger. The shrimp tacos were my least favorite, but they were still really really good. The portion was very generous, which isn't normal for shrimp tacos. I was low-key annoyed because the waitress asked my husband if he wanted to add fries to his burger and he did. When the food arrived we realized we had ordered way too much food. The food was really good, so I'm gonna forgive her. There were only three of us and we couldn't even come close to finishing all the food. We brought the nachos back and our family ate them cold and loved them. Portions are massive. The drinks were good, not as good as the food. Their Paloma is a little bit more of their own interpretation, but light and sweet with a spicy tajin rim. I was too full after eating way too many nachos, so opted for a small order of the classic wings. The spice level was nice, and they were crispy, the way I like them. The one negative: the blue cheese sauce was way too watery and didn't stick to anything you dipped in it. My wife had the Harvest salad, which she really enjoyed, but after the nachos she couldn't finish it. Service was great - very cheery and upbeat. My partner and I stopped in for lunch over the weekend. I have a tendency to peruse the menu of restaurants I plan on visiting, and I was so excited to try the food at Redbird that I wasn't sure what I would get when we were actually there! Although everything looked good, I had to eventually settle on something, so we ordered two appetizers and an entree: the garlic confit pretzels, loaded waffle fries with birria, and loaded buffalo wings. Of the things we ordered, the garlic confit pretzels were my favorite. The pretzels came out piping hot, and they were topped with the perfect amount of salt (I dislike it when pretzels are too salty). They came with mustard, cheese dip, garlic confit, and sweet peppers. The best combination was a spread of garlic confit, topped with a little pepper, then dipped in cheese for a savory, salty bite with a hint of sweetness. Amazing! My partner said that the buffalo wings were really good and that the toppings (bleu cheese crumbles, sauteed celery and carrots, and drizzled with ranch) really elevated the dish. He had one complaint, that the wings themselves were dry, but everything else was so good that it didn't ruin his experience. This place does not disappoint! Met a friend here for catch-up time after work. I love sitting in the bar area as does she. Ryan took very good care of us. We gave our livers a break with mocktails, a margarita and a Moscow mules sans alcool. We shared the elote nachos and buffalo wings with sesame ginger and ranch on the side. I've been here twice, and I'm glad we came back for a second try since it was better than the first. The first time we came we got one of the loaded wings (elote), but felt that there was a bit too much going on that overpowered the wings. Since wings are one of their featured sections on the menu (brined for 24 hours, slow cooked then flash fried), I had to give it another chance and was more satisfied with the meal overall. I definitely prefer the classic wings because I could better appreciate the brine/slow cook/flash fried preparation. We opted for the lemon pepper (dry rub) and buffalo (sauce) - the wings weren't greasy at all and the chicken was tender. The sauce and dry rub really complemented the wings. You can get carrot and celery sticks on the side with either ranch, blue cheese, or both dressings. My husband also ordered the shrimp ceviche which comes with chips and was very light; the citrusy marinade was delicious and there was a nice mix of cucumber, onion, and avocado to add balanced texture to the dish. We came out from Phoenix and wanted a nice quiet supper, what a surprise, it was so loud. Of course it was nice for outside seating. The weather was perfect with a nice cool breeze so we could also enjoy the sunset. The food was delicious. We're not much for smash burgers, but the Red Bird Classic was pretty pretty darn good, and big with 2 patties. The 3 taco deal was fantastic. Barria, Pollo Asado, Chili Rajas was amazing. Tons of flavor, like a party in your mouth. Carne Asada tacos were perfectly cooked. The Harvest Salad w/ Chicken was big enough for two, AND was served as such. Bella was our server and she was great, we were a high maintenance table and she took it in stride, with a wonderful sense of humor. When we get back down to Tucson we'll make it a point to stop at Red Bird, but we'll be sitting outside, unless it's in the middle of summer of course. LOL! read more
