Love that there's a Panera closer to me, and love that it has a drive-thru! So convenient, especially when picking up breakfast for the office. Has all of the typical Panera food, and is the same quality I've had at other Panera's. Breads are always freshly baked, and never, ever skip getting a chocolate chip cookie with your meal. They are delicious! Love the inside, lots of tables and corners for private conversations or some quiet solitude. I honestly have had to go back for my order to be redone, more than I haven't. And one time my smoothie was completely melted and I explained to the manager that I sent my order for a specific time for a reason. My email said it was done 25 minutes early. The manager made a bunch of excuses instead of just owning up to it and fixing it. She then proceeded to get heated and put her hand so close to my face and was acting so ghetto. Ew. Weirdo. Ever wonder how some restaurants consistently have poor food and subpar service? Its simple-- bad ownership and a dysfunctional management team leads to poor results every time. True story, my high school aged nephew took a job at McCandless Crossings Panera in late Spring. Never missed a shift and worked hard. Recently his beloved grandfather had passed away and he asked them to change his scheduled work days which were scheduled on the days of the wake and funeral. The manager requested proof of his grandfathers death (what kind of unfeeling and ruthless people do such a thing?). My nephew showed them his grandfather's online obituary . The manager demanded that my nephew work immediately following the conclusion of the wake visitation hours and the funeral mass. My nephew advised that he wished to mourn and be with family during that time. The manager advised that the Panera owners have a strict policy and no exceptions for his circumstance. My nephew quit. He learned a valuable lesson that there are employers who have no sense of doing the right thing. The bigger point is that this Panera's consistently poor rating from Yelpers and other review sites clearly shows that this owner and management team do not care for their employees or patrons. Worst Panera ever!! Did the drive-through. Chicken apple cheddar sandwich was disgustingly soggy, sitting in a pool of liquid with both pieces of bread soaked through..and it had no cheddar on it. The side greek salad lettuce was wilted, there were no kalamata olives or peppers, and instead of red onions it had pickled onions!? I have been to this location 3 times now, and have sent my food back to them all 3 times. I ordered, what I thought was an Udon soup once, and it looked like beef broth, and smelled like the garbage dumpster. Went there this past Thursday, and ordered a tuna sandwich. I asked the cashier what was on it, prior to ordering, and he said lettuce and tomato. I ordered a half of the sandwich, on plain white bread, with the lettuce and tomato on the side. Waited for 14 minutes, all the while, watching the people preparing the sandwiches working at the pace of a snail. I was given a bag, and checked it immediately. I received a scoop of tuna on a ciabatta bread, with ONIONS on top of the scoop of tuna. (the tuna had not been spread onto the bread, just there in a scoop in the middle of this large, thick ciabatta bread.) I gave it back to the cashier, asking for a refund. How is this so hard to make a simple 1/2 of a tuna salad sandwich with the lettuce and tomato on the side. Incidentally, there was NO lettuce or tomato in the bag on the side, either. My husband had ordered a turkey sandwich with nothing on it, and the "special sauce" on the side. You guessed it....sauce, lettuce, tomato and onions on his sandwich. Unbelievable. This is not brain surgery. It is simple sandwiches. There were so many people waiting in front of the serving station, waiting for their food, that we all started laughing about what could possibly take so long. Needless to say, we returned the order, and have no intentions of EVER returning to this location. They have had several opportunities to serve good food correctly ordered. Three strikes, you're OUT! Sorry McCandless Panera. Oh, yeah, and the manager's lame excuse for this was, "we have a lot of new people making the sandwiches". Slow service, unconcerned wait staff, and a changed menu that does not compete well with the old Panera menu. Waited about 15 minutes to get served. Ordered soup because the salad I used to like was gone and the "replacement" salad was not at all appealing. The soup was cold, and the bowl was only half filled. When I first walked in, the layout design was strange and they had the roped line to wait to order, after you order, head down a dark hallway that seems tight and strange, you will find where your rapid pickup orders are and the counter to pickup your food. Also in the hallway was a bench seat which I have never seen in a Panera before but I completely understand why.... other patrons were sitting in the dining area or on the benchseat waiting patiently for their food while I paced for 20 minutes for a pick 2 that should've been easy. Name after name called, people waiting for rapid pickup orders and no sense of urgency until they saw how frustrated I was. The assistant manager was very stressed and freaking out while the employees snailed their way making food. Terrible service, they did get my order right thankfully, but I left very annoyed. read more

It took way longer than it should have, and ended up making me later for class. It took over 10 minutes to get one drink and I didn't even stay for the second. Ordered a bacon turkey bravo with no tomato, did not get bacon or cheese and got a tomato, bravo! Ordered a bowl of French onion soup, did not get cheese. Grilled cheese sandwich was barely grilled. This location is hit or miss. I have been several times. The food/service is not consistent. Also the design of store is very poor. If a few people are in front of you in line you may be forced to stand in the vestibule. Other Panera locations have plenty of outlets for you to recharge and do some work if need be. I ordered a grilled cheese with bacon and tomato and received a grilled cheese with NO CHEESE. There was also "other" stuff on the sandwich (clearly utensils hadn't been cleaned and their remnants ended up on my sandwich). They also failed to provide a spoon with my drive thru order of soup. I am a fan of Panera Bread for their fresh salads, vegetables, bread.. Etc.. Well, here it is not like that at all. The salad I ordered was stale and tasted like it was a week old. My sisters sandwich was disgusting. She had the grilled cheese. And the pasta primavera tasted over a week old. None of the vegetables were fresh. The bread was hard as a rock!! I'll start by saying this review is specifically for this Panera at McCandless Crossing. After doing some investigating, it's a franchised store and apparently this franchise just doesn't give a rat's behind. I've had plenty of good experiences with Panera, so I don't want to overgeneralize. First, whoever designed this store should never work again. You can fit like three people in line before everyone's having to stand out the door, weaving here and there to let people out. On to the real issue, though. This store is the closest to my house and we've tried repeatedly to pick up orders to go there. Every time we get home and realize that multiple parts of the order are wrong. We've taken to trying to remember each time to check the bag and have them fix the mistakes before we leave, but there are times when you're just in a rush and don't end up doing that part of their job for them. Today we had multiple parts of our order wrong, and the manager was the one packing the order! When we got home and realized that the sandwich was the wrong sandwich and the salad was just plain missing from the bag, the "manager" said I could either come down and get a free pastry or get a free "you pick 2 coupon" in the mail. They've had to give me coupons before, and quite frankly, I would much rather just get a correct order than have to be offered a stupid coupon every time I come to the store. I will drive to Wexford or down to McKnight if I want Panera; this place has been like this since they've opened and there's no excuse any more. They're relying off of the popularity of McCandless Crossing but refusing to actually make their restaurant a better run operation. Panera, keep an eye on your franchises: I'm reasonable enough to realize that this one store shouldn't represent the company as a whole, but not everyone's so understanding. read more

There are some significant training issues at this Panera. I used rapid pickup at this location twice and my order was significantly messed up and missing essential items (salad without chicken AND baguette) egg sandwich on bread when requested an Asiago bagel, half sandwich given when I paid for a whole sandwich. These incorrect orders defeat the purpose of using their rapid pickup option since I have to check every item before I leave the store. I will not go to this Panera location again. I absolutely love this location. The food is wonderful and everyone there is so relaxed and delightful. I would like to commend you on two things in particular. The first is one of your employees, Stephanie. My friends and I come in before book club every Sunday afternoon, and she always has a genuine smile and is the main reason why we come to this Panera instead of the one on McKnight Road. Most employees don't carry on a conversation while ordering, but she does, it's very refreshing. The second thing I wanted to congratulate you on, was the drive-thru. Everything is always done with haste and care. The line moves quickly, even during a busy time or when the people in front of me order 8 different things. I really love this location. Also, the sound quality is perfect. I can hear them, and they can hear me(I hope!). In conclusion,I recommend everyone to come here and try something, it's such a nice place and I have never been unsatisfied with my visit at this location. It's very clean as the employees are constantly making sure everybody is happy and has a clean place to sit and enjoy their food. Good job! read more

So I was at panera last Wednesday and I went up to the register and I had this really nice employee named Antwon or Anton or something like that and he just seemed so happy to work there and he made sure my order was perfect before taking my money. My food was made very quickly and a girl named who's name tag was hard to read (I believe her named started with an M) gave me my food and told me to have a wonderful day. I had a bacon/ turkey sandwich (1/2) , chips & a drink $9.89 I was furious You can buy 8 slices of Plainville turkey @ Giant Eagle for $ 6.00 ...The sandwich had 1small slice of turkey,an1/4" of bacon, 1/2 of a 1/2slice of tomato & so much sauce the bread was soft. It was not mentioned I could have had ( you buy 2 for $4.79.) what a ripoff... Guess some don't work hard for their $ & don't question prices or they're living off their inheritance $$$ read more
