A sad Green goddess avo toast

Waited in line my whole lunch break (30mins) even though I ordered from the app before taking my lunch break. The food wasn't good. The lettuce was wilted and very little smear of avocado. After being sip member for couple months, I'm don't want to go back now as this isn't the first time it's happened. I've been trying to eat healthy but Panera is no longer worth it.

    Chocolate croissant

I am not a huge fan of chocolate. Yeah I know I'm weird that way... So anyway when I started craving a chocolate croissant a couple weeks ago I thought I could just wait it out and it would be over but it persisted, so this morning I decided to drive through Panera, and order a chocolate croissant and an iced coffee. It was just after 9 AM when I pulled into the drive-through. When I arrived, there were were four cars ahead of me. It took nearly 9 minutes to get to the pick up window and I do know that waiting is pretty typical for Panera during breakfast and lunch times. The drive-through is always clean and planted nicely so at least it looks nice while you're waiting. I ordered iced coffee with non-fat milk and a chocolate croissant and when I got to the window they let me know they did not have any non-fat milk. It seemed a little surprising that early in the morning to not have it but anyway got my coffee and my croissant and went home. The menu stated the croissant was a new recipe. I have not had a chocolate croissant before from Panera, so I can't compare. All in all it was... OK. It had a sugary topping and additional chocolate along the top, and the pastry itself was pretty dense not a typical airy, fluffy croissant. Personally, I would prefer to have one without the sugary topping and the additional chocolate but again, as I stated earlier chocolate is not my absolute favorite, so I would have preferred more of a regular croissant with a little chocolate inside versus this, which seemed more like a pastry/donut. That being said, I am not totally writing this off for future cravings. I did enjoy it especially with the coffee.

    Steak sandwich

This steak sandwich looks nothing like the picture.... I'm not sure if it's because it was a Mobil order or to-go but this is a terrible sandwich

    Baked goods

Went in on 6/1 at the beginning of dinner time. They had no drinks except lemonade and tea. The soda machine was out of most everything. The baked goods were barely there and were not inviting at all. When we got our order, they gave us a cup of soup instead of the bowl. The salad was to have dressing on the side, but it was smothered in it. The pizza sandwich looked nothing like the picture. It was basically a loaf of bread with a smear of tomato sauce and barely pepperoni and cheese. When we left, there were too many dishes on the trash bin because they left the soda fountain parts all over. This used to be a nice place to go to. So disappointing!

Panera is the best! They have fresh baked goods and the soups are the best! I like the quiet atmosphere here!

I usually get the $10 Gotta Habit meal, which comes with half of a Santa Barbara, five piece chicken bites, and your choice of a garden salad, fries, or tempura green beans, and a drink. The salads are always fresh and packed; the tempura green beans are always light and crisp, and the fries are decent. Their new garlic, parmesan cheese fries are good with a funky flavor. When they had their tempura avocado wedges, it became my habit, they were perfectly fried, crisp on the outside and warm and creamy on the inside with a hint of citrus. Their dragonfruit limeade is also my favorite, but it's seasonal. The staff are always nice and friendly. I order ahead to beat the wait. It's usually chill inside even when it's busy. There it's outdoor seating and the place is kept pretty clean.

Years ago I ate at a Wienerschnitzel in Visalia and it was not a good experience so I was hesitant to try again but always want to give places a chance especially when they are new to town. First note is that the entry to the drive-through is at the very front of the building and you need to turn into it as soon as you turn off of Olive street into the lot. Today someone was at the gas station next-door and was trying to back out and was blocking entry for myself and another car so it can get a bit tricky as far as traffic if that area gets blocked. Now I am a big user of apps and know that Wienerschnitzel does have an app however Porterville is not yet listed as a location so you cannot order through the app at this time I do not know when and if they will update it to add this location. The menu was pretty straightforward. I had wanted to try a chili dog and was kind of sad to see that there was not a combo that offered a chili dog fries and a drink their number one combo is two chili dogs fries and a drink and that's just too much for what I wanted. I did order a chili dog and had them add raw onions. I also ordered small fries and a small Dr Pepper. The drink was a good size, it was closer to a medium at other places so that was nice. It is a bit of a drive home so the food was not super hot by the time we got home but it wasn't bad. Fries were very pale but salted nicely and had a good flavor. I am unsure about the chili dog. It wasn't bad but the hotdog itself was probably the low point. It was very skinny and did not taste like a quality dog. Once I got home I looked in the app and noticed that they offer an upgrade to a "premium" dog which was interesting... based on my receipt it looks like I got that standard hotdog which was fine but if you are able to spend a few more dollars to get a better dog I might try this again with that option. They do offer different varieties of hotdogs as well; the Chicago dog looked interesting but I will have to wait until another time to try that. Looks like they have burgers, hotdogs, fries, drinks, a Polish dog sandwich, and ice cream desserts. I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the menu as the line was moving very quickly. I did not have to wait at all for my food. The young lady at the window was very nice. They have outdoor dining area that's covered. That might be nice during the summertime. All in all I would guess that this was probably not something I will crave but again I will go back and try a different variety of hotdog and see about the upgrade to the premium dog and see if that makes a difference in the flavor. If you are looking for a change from burgers at a reasonable price this may be just the spot.

Have always loved this chain. Great to finally have them here in Porterville. Don't forget to try…read morethe Polish Sandwich.
