Both the food quality and service has been consistently fantastic the last few times the wife and I came down here. Ambiance is nice outside, inside is always busy! But makes sense! I got the double char burger combo and added bacon. Got my fries extra crispy with a large Diet Coke. So delicious! The bacon was crispy, cheese perfectly melted, patty well seasoned and still juicy! Match that with fries that have a nice crispness to them and that cold soda to wash it all down; I was in heaven! My wife got a Caesar Salad with no chicken, add avocado and dressing on the side. When I ordered at the drive through I requested No a yellow beets on the salad, no onions on the burger and two onion rings. This took several attempts. When we received out order the salad had YELLOW BEETS, and my burger had NO CHEESE (and luckily no onions). Lastly, I only received one of my onion rings! This is our chosen hamburger and fries franchise in Southern California--there is always an ongoing debate about that. ;-) But when we're not in our regular neighborhood and we see one, we're like, "Oh yes, we know what we're eating." And this location has the expected quality of burgers, fries and shakes we've come to know and love. But what stood out to us is the history of the specific location. It used to be a neighborhood family diner that struggled and people tried extremely hard to save it. When The Habit acquired it, instead of tearing the building down and starting from architectural scratch, they preserved what made the original diner charming. The First-Born loved taking pictures of the outside as well as a nice model right in the middle of the restaurant on the inside. Just lovely. I used to be a HUGE fan of The Habit in Visalia. In fact, we lived down the street from the restaurant for a few years several years ago and would stop in for a meal or a snack multiple times a week. The service used to be great, the food was consistently prepared accurately and tasted fantastic, and the prices were reasonable for what you got. It was definitely our family's go-to place. Sadly, none of those things are true any longer. Over the past few years, the overwhelming majority of our orders are not correctly prepared, the quality and consistency of the food has gotten progressively worse, and all the while the prices have escalate, making it not remotely worth the money. I tried to give it a shot again tonight, ordered a grilled chicken sandwich, fries, a drink, and a shake. The only thing that was correct out of that order was the soda. The sandwich was not prepared as ordered, missing items that always come on it. I ordered the fries extra crispy, they were soggy, limp, and entirely undercooked. The shake was ordered without whipped cream, they put a thick topping of whip anyway. They literally have the receipt with the detailed order attached on the front of the bag, which was entirely correct, maki it overwhelming clear that the person preparing the food either didn't bother to read it or lacked the literacy skills to follow it, and the person who packed the order failed to check it for accuracy either. I specifically asked for napkins, they don't even put those in anymore. If this was a one time thing, or even an uncommon occurrence, that would be one thing. But it has become a consistent pattern that The Habit staff here just simply does not care enough about the customer to even really try to do a good job. Theres clearly a lack of adequate training and supervision, and as a result, if something significant doesn't change, they're just going to keep losing customer. As I said, having been such a Habit lover in years past, I hate that one of favorites is now such a consistent disappointment. It's also extremely frustrating that we can't just contact the store directly with a problem, making it incredibly challenging to get help or address issues. At this point, I wouldn't recommend wasting your money here, it seems, based on their service, they don't need or want it. read more

I went to the DT to order today and waited for a bit (per the usual) but then discovered when I got home that my order was wrong. I ordered an ahi tuna, no teriyaki, no tartar sauce, add garlic aoli. I got an ahi tuna with ZERO customizations. To top it off, I try calling the store, which takes an act of God to actually reach someone, and then all I get is the standard "well, drive back across the entirety of town for us to fix it" so I guess I have learned to be the jerk that holds up the line to check my order since apparently making changes on a menu item is so jarring that they can't get it right . Heads up DO NOT go here if you have food allergies or sensitivities as they do not care and do not pay attention! My sister and I both have severe reactions to garlic and especially onions of all types. We immediately go into severe gastric destress that can require hospitalization. Again it's not because we don't like the taste, it's the "two exits, no waiting" with incapacitating abdominal cramping We had not been since before the pandemic ( used to be regulars). So pulled up, ordered two char burgers, stressed no onions, or anything that had touched onions because of severe allergies. Whomever took the order, repeated it verbatim and stressed "No worries about onions". Great! Got home and we had taken a few bites ( we take our time eating) and first I felt the familiar cramping starting and barely made it to the bathroom in time. My sister looked inside the rest of my burger and there were bits of onion mixed in the lettuce. Not a lot but definitely a small amount. She then also started having a reaction and found a smaller amount mixed in with her lettuce as well. She also had a nasty reaction, but since I had eaten more I had it worse. To the point she was considering calling an ambulance. We have medication on hand for such emergencies and it helped, but I was extremely sick the majority of the night What we both are is beyond angry that while we were assured that our allergy would be accommodated, this was obviously not the case. Either ignored or purposely put in "for fun". Years ago had that happen and when we had a reaction the chef came out and "I thought you just didn't like the taste and was using an allergy as an excuse ". This was a 5 Star restaurant on Rodeo Drive. Only one time, but it does happen. If they were unable to accommodate, no problem. Just thank you for letting us know and we will go somewhere else. However will never be returning for our own safety. Just not worth the risk. You guys need to take food allergies seriously. And we used to love this place read more

Super disappointing. The only highlight was the guy at the window was so good at what he does and a promotion should be in his future. Other than that everything else was sloppy and not tasty. We ordered a sandwich and 2 burger combos. The burgers were so soggy. The bottom bun was incomplete half of it was missing. And the other half flat like it got stepped on and was completely wet. We didn't order our burgers with onion yet both burgers were jammed packed with grilled onions. The fries were so salty like the salt shaker lid fell off mid shake. I absolutely love The Habit!!! It's one of my favorite places to eat! I first found out about it from my friend. We were on a road trip and he suggested we stop by. I had never heard of it. Once I tried it it's been a staple in my life. I absolutely LOVE the grilled chicken sandwich on ciabatta bread with teriyaki sauce. I get it every single time. I'm not a big red meat girl. I never really eat it. However my friend got the Santa Barbra Char and let me try it. Sooooooo delicious. I also like my fries softer rather than very crispy, and they happily accommodate when I ask them to be made a certain way. Neon lights are rockin' at night, while upbeat music plays inside all day. The table and seating layout inside is also fun and spacious. I finally got to try the Santa Barbara Char, and I have to admit that I was a little disappointed. It tasted kinda plain on its own. However, the peppers substantially enhanced my meal. Although the sandwich itself had fresh ingredients, it didn't have much flavour to it. Service is always great. Employees are kind and helpful. Prices are still reasonable. My complaint is how they make the Chicken Cesar Salad now. They put the dressing on the side. They don't mix it in like they used to. The dressing is way too thick to pour on and comes out of the plastic cup in clumps and is difficult to stir into the salad. I realize they are trying to save money by eliminating a step but it makes for a mediocre salad that used to be fantastic. Unfortunately it is one of the few thing I am allowed to eat there because of medical restrictions. I would pay a little more to have it mixed into the salad before I pick it up. read more
