I am really not sure why this place has such low reviews. This is a sandwich counter right off the 99, so was super conveniently located on a road trip with my husband. Right by a gas station and tons of bathrooms-- perfect for a pit stop. Is the service super warm? No, but again, I don't expect that for a pit stop like this. I'm here for the sandwiches! The restaurant was quite busy during a Saturday noon hour which surprised me due to its hidden location in a shopping center. I was quickly met by someone to take my order. Apparently, I was placed on a need to know basis because this guy was not the least bit helpful. It was actually pretty uncomfortable, and I just wanted away from him as quickly as possible. I placed my order for a Tri-Tip & Jack Sandwich on sourdough and made it a combo , then sat at a table while I waited. The table looked as though it hadn't been cleaned that day, and as I scanned the drink area. It looked pretty disgusting too. There weren't many employees around , in fact, I only saw 2, so perhaps they were under staffed. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. I also doubt that I will return to this location. We don't come here often because the bad service BUT we do enjoy the food this 2 stars instead of 1. The previous two visits I attempted to call in my order so I can pick it up and be in and out. Both times, I was on hold for over 15 minutes and ended up just driving over and stood in line to order. This last time I called and was already on hold for 5 minutes but this time I stayed on hold and drove over. I pull up, there is no line, 1 person dining in, and I'm still on hold. I hung up once I walked in. I would think since you can't order online they would be GREAT on the phone. There is no excuse for leaving me on hold for 15+ minutes 3 times in a row. The sandwiches at Deli D are so good!! They pack so much meat and veggies that the small is more than enough for an adult to be full but not too full. The beer battered fries are AMAZING and make sure and try them with the ranch which is also so freaking good!! The staff are VERY nice and courteous and go out of their way to serve you! I saw the shift manager touch food and then the screen with the blue gloves at the same time training a new guy with no gloves that was handling money using the same equipment and touching the same surfaces the other guy was as well. First of all, the guy making my sandwich had to keep going to the other employee to ask for information about the order. The bread was slightly toasted but the pastrami was cold! There were barely any pickles and almost no cheese! Hardly any mustard either. The beer battered fries were ok except for the fact that they had all these black specks all over them.
