Way overpriced for mediocre food. I ordered the Chiptole Chicken Bowel and lemonade, costing over $16. The bowel is a bowel of rice and black beans with just a few chunks of chicken, cherry tomatoes, and an avocado thron in. No flavor, nothing Chiptole about it. To top it off, the bread was stone cold. They couldn't even warm the bread. Needless to say I won't be returning here soon.

Over priced for the portions they serve now. Tables were filthy as well as the serving station where you pick up the food.

Another customer came in hoping to watch the Lakers game, but she acted like the game wasn't available at the bar in what seemed like an attempt to discourage them from staying because she wanted to close early and go home. Later, I ordered two drinks and tipped around 50% on my receipt, yet I was immediately made to feel like my tip still wasn't enough for the level of service provided. The bartender wearing the orange wig then went on to call me ugly and broke for not paying more. I even asked what she considered an appropriate tip amount, and she refused to answer. It honestly felt like there was an expectation for customers to overpay despite receiving poor customer service. While the drinks tasted good, they ended up making me feel sick immediately afterward.

Music is lively coming thru the ceiling speakers. They are very quick and efficient. Nice servers!! A friend/colleague and her sister joined our table. Luckily, they made me aware a free drink could be had since its teacher appreciation week! 1/2 cut might be a new favorite. It's brewed very well. The wrap that one of them had was very tasty and palatable. The lettuce is frilly and fun. The spud Max was devoured very easily. Mcallister's is always a good choice for fresh hot and cold food. The service was great--Halle checked me out and she was super friendly, patient, and knowledgeable. I originally wanted the caramel apple lemonade, but they were out, so I went with a sweet tea instead. I ordered the 1/2 potato soup and 1/2 sandwich combo, and everything came out fresh and tasty. My total was around $18 with tip, which felt fair for a relaxing dine-in experience. I was also able to get some schoolwork done while eating. They have WiFi and my table had an outlet, which made it incredibly convenient. Staff even came by to clear my plate and offer a tea refill--small touches that go a long way. This was a comfortable place to grab a bite, unwind, and get a little work done. I will be sure to keep this in mind next time I'm out this way!

feels like stepping into a true old-school neighborhood tavern--the kind of place that hasn't tried…read moreto reinvent itself because it doesn't need to. It's dated in the best possible way: dim lighting, worn-in character, familiar faces, and that unmistakable local hangout atmosphere where regulars clearly outnumber first-timers. The highlight here is the Tweety Burger, and honestly, that's the reason to come. It reminded me immediately of the classic Midwest style you'd find at places like Minor-Dunn in Highland, Indiana. The patty is smashed thin and cooked flat on the grill, giving it those crispy edges and deep, savory flavor you only get from a well-seasoned griddle that's seen years of use. It tastes homemade--not engineered, not trendy, just a straightforward burger done right. You can tell they take their time with the food. Nothing feels rushed or mass-produced. The burger comes out hot, flavorful, and satisfying without trying to be gourmet or overcomplicated. No towering Instagram presentation--just a solid, honest burger that delivers exactly what you want from a local pub. Service matched the vibe perfectly. The staff were personable, welcoming, and genuinely friendly in that small-town way that makes you feel less like a customer and more like a guest stopping by a neighborhood spot. Charlie's isn't flashy. It's not modern. And if you're looking for upscale dining or trendy décor, this isn't the place. But if you want an authentic mom-and-pop tavern experience with a burger that locals clearly treat as a tradition, it's worth the stop. Best advice: stick with the Tweety Burger. Don't overthink the menu. Order it, enjoy the atmosphere, and experience a piece of local Terre Haute character. Not a destination restaurant--but absolutely a solid local classic you should try at least once.
