I always tell myself I will never order from Panera again, but I figured maybe it would redeem itself in the state of Ohio. I seriously regret my decision. I ordered the new Asian chicken salad. The lettuce was wilted and soggy, and the whole salad description on the menu did not match what I received at all. I got romaine lettuce with about 4 chunks of chicken, pickled onions, and ONE edamame (no exaggeration). I paid $14 for it and that kinda makes me want to cry. And my bowl of chicken soup....it had about 6 noodles in it, no chicken, and a few carrots. 2 stars for the fact that at least you don't consistently screw up your bagels. I like this facility, but something has happened there in the last 2 or so months. The quality of food is good. The service is another story. In the last three weeks we have had to walk out on three occassions. First two we stood at the counter waiting to get served. After 10 minutes it was clear no one was interested in taking our order so we left, and went elsewhere. Yesterday as we were leaving a couple came out complaining that the werent open. When i entered there were a few people standing around so I asked ghrm if they had already ordered they advised me that ghey werent ready as ghey were late opening. So we went elsewhere. To be fair, we revisited the Troy, OH Panera in hopes that our miserable experience was just a "bad day." Unfortunately, this Panera is just TERRIBLE!! Ordered a Green Goddess Cobb Salad. Began to eat it and realized the ONLY greens was kale...which was very bitter! Absolutely zero Romaine lettuce or Arugula. My friend also had a salad, the Fiji Apple Salad. 100% bitter kale! We sought out the manager on duty, who was actually preparing the food, only to be told, "I'm sorry!" Not anything more! She watched us throw our salads in the trash and leave! Placed an online order for bagels on Thursday evening for pickup on Friday. Got a call on Friday, 10 minutes before I was supposed to pick up my order, and was told they were out of bagels. The staff member I spoke to was unapologetic that I would not be getting the bagels - just asked if I wanted a credit or a refund. To get the refund I had to go back online to cancel my order. Since it was already past the order pickup time the order could not be cancelled for a refund!. I don't know if I received a credit or not as I was told, just come in and mention that I have a credit and they will apply it. Had to have the brunch without bagels. I remember the first time I went in at about 8:45 thinking I'd need to get it to go bc they close at 9, but they said, 'oh no we'll just be cleaning up and don't mind if you stay and eat'. Compare that to other nearby food places (ehem, Chipotle) where I'm often given that look (you know the one) for coming in at the same time, and they stay open til 10! This is the worst Panera I've ever visited, and because I generally like this chain's food I have given this location several chances, with the best result being a mediocre dining experience. Although the employees are generally helpful & mostly friendly, that's where the good ends. I am usually there just before the dinner rush, & several times there were few clean tables, as if nobody cleaned up after lunch. The chairs are never straightened, & the restrooms are also usually gross. Several times we have gotten sandwiches with a huge wad of meat, or in one case peanut butter, slapped into the middle of the bread with no attempt to spread out the contents to make a nice sandwich. The last sandwich I got was the worst. I bit into a huge ball of weirdly textured chicken, as if someone had grabbed all the little bits of chicken from the bottom of the pan & packed them into a tight ball, then placed it onto the bread. There were virtually no toppings & no condiments. It was awful. It is a shame this Panera is so poorly managed, because others in the area are usually safe choices for either a light or heavier/warming meal. It seems that every north Dayton Panera bread location is severely understaffed with managers who are ill equipped to provide quality or even adequate customer service. Tonight is the last family order I'll be placing there. It is the third time in a row that I've done so and all three times, my order has been wrong. The online ordering is about the worst and most confusing application that I've ever experienced. And if you'd like to post feedback on your order, that is also impossible to figure out. So if your order is wrong, call the manager. If the manager is not willing to correct their blatant error, file the complaint through their website. I am not a regular at Panera but the wife is fighting a cold and wanted soup. Against my better judgement I agreed to get carry out soups and sandwiches. On the menu is a newer sandwich, chipotle chicken avocado melt. The description provided by the cashier made the sandwich sound awesome, so I ordered the full size at $8.59. When I arrived home and opened my sandwich I instantly thought of the old Wendy's commercial "where's the beef" or in this case "where's the chicken?" If I lived closer to Panera I would have returned the sandwich. If you are looking for a "bread" sandwich this is the sandwich for you. The staff does a fine job. My criticism is that everything is vastly overpriced because the portions of sandwich and soup are really tiny. A "whole" sandwich is 2/3 the size of a 6 inch Subway sandwich, and costs more. A "bowl" of soup is half the size or less of a real bowl of soup. They ran out of the soup of the day. Noticed this location is not what it used to be! Went in and ordered. I had ordered a large drink. After she rang me up took my money cashier then informed me they were out of large cups. So she wondered if I wanted two medium cups instead. I told her I only needed one cup.. just refund me the difference between a large and med. So she then called the manager over told her I had ordered a large drink and they were out of large cups. Manager said ok just give her two med cups. Again I explained two cups are of no value to me , I can only drink out of one just refund me the difference. It took alittle to convince them I didn't need two cups. I have to repeat what I've heard so many others say about this location - It's not what it used to be. Honestly, it used to be pretty fantastic. Great food. Great people. Clean. Now....not so much. I now hear workers stating right in front of customers (workers talking among themselves) that they're not going to clean because they don't feel like it, and certainly not the bathrooms (yes, the bathrooms reflect this). When is it ok to talk in front of customers that way? And it seems lately that every time my daughter and I go in, they're out of something - usually baguettes, sometimes baguettes and other things as well.
