I struggled with keeping my hair frizz free and defined but Dani was wonderful and very helpful when it came to hair care advice. She helped me figure out what products would work better and how to properly treat it and style it! I had a great time here and conversations were really enjoyable the vibe is very mellow and the interior has a nice modern loft tropical vibe to it which is refreshing. Have been here a couple times- first time with Dani was great, she gave me an awesome cut. Then came back and had someone else cut my hair and he did an ok job, nothing special. Then returned a third time- this was my last time at Pangaea. Dani absolutely destroyed my hair. I showed her pictures from my first cut from her that I had really liked and asked for something similar and she started cutting huge pieces off the back. Gave me the worst haircut I've ever had- super uneven, choppy in the back, looked terrible for about three months. Can finally laugh about it now that it's growing out, but I won't be returning. Confidence was in the drain after that haircut. Uneven from the front, back was weirdly short, no way to style this. read more

I saw Dani at Pangea. I was super nervous going into it since it has been so long since I've had a hair cut and it's super long now (for me). Dani took the time to sit with me and talk through what I wanted before doing anything and really calmed my nerves. She talked me through every step of the way before doing anything. All the while staying super positive and enthusiastic about it. I left feeling like $1,000,000 without the price tag to match! I kind of want to go back just to hang out. I've never gotten a curly hair cut before but have done a lot fo reading online so I knew sort of what to expect. I am very low-maintenance with my hair and made sure Dani knew this upfront. She recommended products that will help keep me curls easy to manage and hydrated and shaped between washes. Total plus for a not-morning person trying to get back into the swing of things post-vaccine. They have two days a week that are dedicated mask days and the other days are mask optional. Dani wore a mask while she did my hair, the other two stylists did not. The check using Vagaro was super simple and easy. I'm totally looking forward to going back! read more

After many years, I decided to update my review for this hair salon and an experience I dealt with 4 or 5 years ago. I was bullied and intimidated by one of the hair stylists Dana, about my Yelp review. I wanted my hair a burgundy color (my hair was black/ dark brown) and after explaining what I'd like to achieve at the time, she totally agreed and said it was achievable. It was still my normal hair color and she just curled it/ washed it. Sold me Paul Mitchell hair products and said I needed to restore my hair, in order to get it into a bright color. After 2 months of selling me Paul Mitchell Marula Oil, I felt it did nothing for my hair. I was very disappointed that after investing time, energy and money for this product, she said she wouldn't lift my hair color. She was also rather cold towards me and overall felt like I was getting scammed. I totally understand that there were not bad intentions and decided to no longer buy the product. I was a regularly Yelping, just doing my own thing and left an honest review about the experience; Dana lost it and sent me intimating, threatening text messages to silence me. She also said she would never service me again and totally made fun of my hair condition (at the time) and was downright rude. I was so shocked from the text messages that I was forcibly asked to update this review and give her a better review... but it's not fair to me as a client to be asked to manipulate my review for her sake. If she doesn't work there anymore, that's great. I totally am able to return, but if she does still work there, I want her to know that I'm still going to keep my review honest. She bullied me the entire time and also threatened that if I didn't remove the review ... Well, you know where I'm going from there. She completely ruined my salon experience and I didn't go to salons for a long time-- she was cold, callous and totally unprofessional. I came to Shane for a cut and color correction. The first day I came in my hair was a complete wreck! Pictures added for your reference lol. He recommended some services to hydrate my hair and used some purple shampoo to tone a bit. He couldn't do any color the first day but I returned a few weeks later and he did my roots and evened out my color. He gave me some products and recommended ways to keep my hair healthy and without brassy tones. All of this for an reasonable price. Like I was shocked!! He's amazing! She took forever and I was the last client out. If you are going to promote your salon as a curly salon then train your stylist. The stylist should not be telling me that she's going to attend a training for curly hair. If there's any bullying going on its your overpriced nonsense for crap service! I called to see if I could get squeezed in for a haircut while my friend was watching my son. I was told that there was an opening immediately and I could come right in. I was greeted by hairstylist Yanin when I arrived. I had not gotten a haircut for months and I wanted to get a long bob to freshen up my look. Yanin listened carefully and clarified exactly the length, layering, and style I liked. She is a very good listener and made sure she understood exactly what I wanted. She carefully cut and styled my hair and explained what she was doing and even game some styling tips along the way. She didn't sell me on any products. I've been to too many salons (even high end ones) in the past where the stylist doesn't really listen and tries to push their agenda or own tastes on you. Kenia is customer-focused and really cares about making her client happy. DETAILED: Kenia very precise and has great attention to detail. This was important to me because I happen to have straight hair and any miscut can be really obvious. I just had a cut this morning and already got several compliments! Kenia can cut men's hair as well as women's hair. I've watched her do both with precision. In terms of the actual salon itself, it's easy to find parking in front along the street. The place is clean and has a cool vibe. The owner Carol is super nice and works there as a stylist too. That's important because there's nothing like an absentee owner who doesn't care about the customer. At Pangaea you don't have to worry about that. Carol is there and working with clients. I keep going back because I can always trust that anyone I go to at Pangaea Salon will give me a great style. I have gone to four different stylists at Pangea because I am awful at making appointments ahead of time. I have wavy thick hair that other salons actually complain about because of how much time it takes to style my hair. I have never gone to stylist before that celebrates my hair and knows how to cut it. Yanin Lozano showed me how to manage my wavy hair with its random curls so I now have many fun hairstyles to choose from day to day. Marco and Carol are wildly knowledgeable about colors. I have natural auburn hair and again, never found anyone to help be brighten it up with more red and copper tones. U n t i l NOW! I feel like a celebrity when I leave with my new fancy hair.
