Such a great place! I've been to Diana there twice now and each time left feeling so great about my hair. When I was not able to get in to see my normal stylist I decided to look for a new salon. After reading what seemed like hundreds of reviews of several salons and stylists I decided to book an appointment with Mae. I was very uneasy about letting someone new cut my hair especially given that I was making a very drastic change, but she more than made me feel comfortable and took her time. Once she was done I was unsure of the cut so she offered to let me come back in a few days for another which I did and now I absolutely love my new Do! . Pangaea, you are amazing. But the most amazing part of this salon is the owner, Carol. I have searched long and hard for a home for my hair here in Denver. And this is it--all due to Carol. I have a good friend to thank, as she went to Carol for her hair upon seeing a yelp deal. So, upon a great recommendation, I made an appointment and was able to get in within the next two weeks (if I recall correctly, as this was some time ago). Carol is genuine, friendly and hilarious. I was greeted with a smile and a shining personality. One wall of the salon was "under construction" being painted by a local artist and the hairstylists were all incredibly friendly. The name of the salon, Pangaea, is no accident. This is a haven for people of all colors, backgrounds, and walks of life and Carol (along with her team) are well versed in how to cut, color, and style any type of hair. As I sat in the chair, Spanish was being spoken two seats away and people far younger than me were making rowdy plans for the weekend. The second time I was in, men from a barber shop where Carol used to work stopped in and there was a friendly neighborhood feel. That's how it is--every face here was friendly and rooting for one another to succeed. I love that Pangaea is in my neck of the woods, I love the experience I have when I go in for an appointment, and even better is the end result of my hair. I've got a thick mess of it and I'm never quite sure what I want, but Carol has executed perfectly every time. From highlights to a retouch to long layers to a simple trim, I love it. Plus, the price is right and Carol always can recommend a product in my price point, which I greatly appreciate. I really enjoyed my experience at Pangaea Salon. There was a mix up with scheduling, I wanted a curly Deva cut but was scheduled with Natalia, who is no quite certified in them yet. No problem, Carol was able to see me within 10 minutes and gave me a really great cut that was faster than any cut I've gotten before. UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM. PLEASE READ BEFORE MAKING AN APPOINTMENT! I would give this ZERO stars If I could! I drove an hour and a half to get my hair cut by a curly hair professional. I told Diana that I wanted to cut as little off as possible, as I was trying to grow my hair out. She cut off WAY more than I wanted! I also told her I don't like my hair in my face, and she asked if I wanted bangs. She didn't listen to ANYTHING that I wanted! When she was done I realized there wasn't much of a point in telling her how much I didn't like it, because she can't undo it. I decided to just straighten my hair until it grew out a little. When I straightened it, I found that I looked like Gollum! Very uneven and stringy! I called the salon and talked to KJ about what happened. He said I could have him or the owner re-cut it, but if I have curly hair it's meant to be worn curly and not straight and that I should have told Diana that. I told him I did tell her I straighten my hair from time to time and that I didn't trust to have it fixed what it so badly botched! I told him that I've gotten Ouidad haircuts for years, and have NEVER had a problem straightening my hair with that! She was supposed to be a curly hair professional and this is by far the WORST haircut I've ever had! I then asked for a refund, and he said the salon can't offer a refund if I don't go there so they can look at it. I reminded him that I drove an hour and a half one way, so I'm not driving back. Then he suggested Diana (the same person that messed up so horribly!) could fix it. I told him that she's not coming anywhere near my hair!! THIS WAS THE WORST EXPERIENCE IVE EVER HAD WITH MY HAIR!! THIS IS NOT OK!! UPDATE: Diana reached out on Facebook with the most UNPROFESSIONAL response! She told me that she wants 100% client satisfaction, but yet didn't offer a refund! Instead she told me that I drove an hour and a half to see her. FALSE!! I did not specifically ask for her, and I drove for a GOOD haircut! By the time it was all said and done, it's at my chin when it was right above my boobs. She told me that since I have curly hair, I shouldn't straighten it. That is a LIE! I have never had problems with straightening my hair before with curly cuts! Carol, the owner, reached out to ask if she could personally fix it. Our days off didn't align, so I had to go elsewhere to get it cut. Since Diana is the one that got all of the money, Carol offered to pay for half of the cut out of her own pocket, which I very much appreciated. Diana thought it was appropriate to call me out on Facebook rather than making it right by giving me a refund. If you go to this salon for a curly cut, ask for Carol and NOT Diana! Her reaching out via Facebook the way she did, and what she had to say (it's still there if you need to go read it) was VERY unprofessional and the response itself was HORRIBLE customer service! read more

I don't write yelp reviews but I am writhing one today cause I have had time to see my hair in different lighting and have been able to wash and do it myself. I am giving it one star cause I hate how my hair looks and feels. I have never had my hair bleached and he bleached the ends of my hair in order for them to be lighter cause he said the darker color wouldn't pick up the other color as well which may be true but I have been getting my hair dyed for years and no one has ever bleached my hair. I got my hair cut before I went to this salon to get it dyed and my hair is so dry now and my ends of my hair just look fried. For the color he said it was supposed to look like a Carmel color and I feel like it's going to turn orange. I have never been this disappointed with my hair color it also took 3 hours maybe more for my hair to get done and 130 dollars later. Wish I could take it back read more

This place ROCKS! I have curly hair and am always nervous that the hair stylist is going to make the layers choppy and not frame my face well. I went to see the owner of Pangaea, Carol. She was listed online as being a great curly hair stylist and she did not disappoint! Unlike my last cut (salon and stylist name I wont mention here), Carol took her time and gave my hair the attention it needed! She spent about 45 minutes giving me a wonderful cut and style. I love this place. My original stylist left last year and you know how it goes when you're looking for a new one. It's scary! And it usually takes a few tries. Not with Pangaea's stylists. I am so happy I scheduled with Yanin Lozano, for so many reasons. First of all, it was poor planning on my part because I didn't realize I had an event starting at 7 that night. I scheduled for 4 and wanted to get a balayage and style. Since I still had to get the rest of me ready and leave my house just after 6, there was no way it was going to work. But Yanin did a fantastic job of matching my previous color and just doing my roots, and hustling to make sure I was out the door by 5:30 with plenty of time to finish getting the rest of me prepared for my night. Not only that but she styled my hair beautifully while she was at it and gave me pointers on how to do it myself. I look better than I have in years. I love my new cut and style. I can leave it straight or curl it, I can not wash it for a couple days (which I prefer) and it keeps looking better as the days go on. It's now been a couple months and it still looks fantastic. We are unexpectedly moving to Seattle (which is one of the reasons I haven't been able to get a touch-up in a couple months) and Yanin is one of the reasons I'm bummed to be leaving. I am making time for seeing her again before I move and who knows. I just might be flying back every so often to see her! read more

I came upon Pangaea totally as a fluke. I've been going to cheaper chain salons just to get touch ups because I have historically had really awful hair stylists who would just either flat out not listen to what I say or for some reason didn't care about what I asked for. My normal place was closed, so I just hit up yelp for the next closest place that was open and Pangaea was it! I've been seeing Natalia for the last few months and she is just the best. She's got such a cute and bubbly personality, is really easy to talk to, personable, and is great at talking with you through your ideas and coming up with a really awesome result. She takes her time and is a perfectionist. I've had friends go to her, and they all love her now too! Her prices are super reasonable and I will definitely keep going to her as long as I live in the area. So happy to have someone that I know I can go to and get what I want without having major hair cut anxiety over it. read more

I Seasonally change the color of my hair and Kenny is patient with my ever wanting a change, he's quick (but thorough) and when I request a trim that's exactly what I receive.
