    Sev Puri
    Bharti S.

This review is been pending for many days so thought of finally writing it down. I & all my friends love their Pani Puri none of the store bought puris come close to this establishment they sell good quality products, the crunch of the puris & freshness add to the taste & experience of Pani puris that's the reason I have been going to this shop for almost 2 decades. I just want to inform that they only sell all the ingredients necessary for making Pani Puri & chaat u need to do it yourself at home as per your taste. I don't mind it, given the excellent quality I think that's the reason it's little expensive which is ok for us. I have tried all their food like - Bhel mix - ( I add chopped onions, jalapeños, tomatoes, avocado, fresh coriander & chutneys as per our taste) Papdi Gathiya (excellent taste) all my friends love it especially my Gujarati friends they always tell me outside India this is the best & authentic taste. Chaat puri- ( I customize it at home adding potatoes, onions, tomatoes , chutneys & Sev ) also I add it in Bhel mix too for added crunch. Sev - this is used in various chaat items like Sev puri , Bhel puri , Pav Bhaji , Dabeli etc. Mohan Thal (sweet) I loved it. Pani puri paste ( I customize it at home) Their 3 chutneys - Mint & Cilantro, Red Chilly Garlic & Tamarind Date chutney ( sweet tangy & spicy) which is good & I love that we don't have to make it from starch especially when u have the craving to have it suddenly (which I often get it) can't live without chaat. We have taken all of the above at various occasions like Holi, Diwali, Birthday parties which was a thundering success everyone in our friend circle love this shop. Their customer service is excellent I always preorder for parties & they have always taken extra care In packing the puris & chutneys. Plus I love that it's a small local mom & pop shop I & my husband always support local business especially from past 2 yrs it's very difficult for small business to sustain. I urge everyone to please support all the local business.

We got two packets of puris from Pani Puri co. Puris were soo good and stayed fresh for couple of days! Cons: 1. Timing of this place (wish they could stay open for longer on weekends) 2. Puri's are quite expensive.

Pani puri. Gol gappa. Puchka. While you decide what name you want to call these perfectly round, puffed, deep-fried, crispy, whole wheat flatbreads, I'll be too busy devouring these little bite-sized flavor explosions! Pani puri is hands down my favorite type of chaat (layman's term: Indian tapas). I consider myself a connoisseur having tried pani puri nearly hundreds of times in my life at every chaat restaurant/stall I have ever been to. No one even competes with the pani puri from Pani Puri Company. General pani puri instructions for novices: The puri is tapped gently by your finger to open a crater on one side to insert fillings. Fillings typically include some combination of: potatoes, chickpeas, sprouted moong beans, boondi, tamarind chutney, and mint chutney (not sold here), and then the puri is submerged in the pani (spiced liquid). It is then placed wholly in your mouth before chomping down and releasing all the flavors. I'm salivating just thinking about pani puri. PPC is not a restaurant. Instead, they solely produce only a limited list of items to purchase as ingredients to assemble at home. The quality of ingredients and consistency of each puri is astonishing. Yes, you can buy pani puri at your local Indian grocery store for cheaper, but they will not be as fresh, as tasty, or have the same exquisite texture and crispness of the ones from PPC. The ones at a regular store will likely break much easier and leak pani, defeating the point of pani puri on the first place. Whenever we host a chaat night, pani puri from PPC is a MUST and a guest favorite so much so that it is now specially requested! They have a limited list of 8 items they sell (see picture). Descriptions below: 1) Pani Puri- the iconic staple that you cannot leave without buying at least 2 packets. You may think one is enough, but it never is! Honestly the remainder of the menu is optional, but in order of most to least recommended, I like: 2) Bhel Mix (Really delicious. If you take this mix, add finely chopped onions, tomatoes, black salt, and tamarind/mint/coriander chutney, it makes for a quick savory and satisfying snack/appetizer.) 3) Chaat Puri (These are tasty as well, but flat puris so you can add toppings on top. Personally I prefer pani puri over chaat puri.) 4) Sev (Usually kept as a topping for various chaats-- this one is nice because it's super fresh and the right crunch factor.) 5) Papadi Gathiya (a great munching snack) 6) Pani puri paste concentrate (it works if it's your only option. We got this twice and both times we had to 'fix' it slightly by adding other spices/ chutneys. Apna Bazar sells pani of different flavors in their refrigerated section which is so much easier and provides variety.) 7) Mohan Thal (usually not a fan of Indian sweets, so I've never tried) 8) Kid-sized Puri (I've never bought these, but if you have smaller mouths to feed, you should buy these as the regular-sized puri may not fit into kids' mouths whole.) Note: they have limited hours making it hard to go on a weekday if you work a normal job & commute. They used to be weekdays only. The good thing is they are now open on weekend mornings to satisfy your cravings. Trust me-- You won't be disappointed! M-F: 8am-5pm Sa-Su: 8am-12pm Also, it's CASH ONLY, but there's an ATM nearby if needed to feed your addiction. :)

Got a packet of 50 puris and the pani puri paste from here and the quality was really good. Service is pretty quick and was in and out in less than a minute! As the menu says, one pani puri paste is sufficient for the 50 puri serving. This is going to be my go to place now for pani puris!

They make a batch of puri( crispy fried flour balls) almost everyday. The puris are fresh and pani (water) paste is consistently good too. Just add water to the thick paste and viola water is ready. I usually mix mint + cilantro + green chilli + ginger paste in this paste to give that green color and make water more flavorful. Add some roasted cumin, lemon, red salt and this can take the water to next level. This pani puri is always satisfying. The mathris are usually ok. I mostly get pani puri when some of our friends visit to enjoy this chaat together. They only accept cash. Also they close at 5 pm so plan ahead. You should try this hidden gem if you like pani puri. PS - this is not a restaurant. It's a togo place only.

At first I thought that tiffin will be enough for us but then my kids quickly gobbled the idli and mini dosa and wanted more. I am not the kind of mom who eats kids leftovers all the time. So I wanted my own dosa. For drinks, I did a medium strong filter coffee ( they make it to your customization and I was surprised to see they even had jaggery). My 9 year old took a mango lassi. Food was incredibly satisfying. Servers are very attentive and they came three times to our table offering more chutney and sambhar. We already had enough but if you like more sambhar and chutney with your food, this is heaven. One server even came with ghee for my little ones for idlis. I was so grateful. He was genuinely sweet to my kid. Felt a connection than just a business! Ambiance is classy and relaxed at the same time. Nobody gave me the side eye when my three year old was a little noisy. Have a corner for takeout containers for leftover food, very generous. I would highly recommend this place for its delicious food, relaxed atmosphere and friendly service. Prices are reasonable. They have happy hour daily from 3-6 pm and when we went at 5.30, the restaurant was more than 70% full on a Thursday. Eat early and save money too. We really had a very good time! PS- when you pay the bill ( you have to order and pay the bill before you eat at a room next to the dining area), do enter your phone number at the end and enroll in the loyalty program. I already redeemed an award today!

Tonight I was craving a home style chicken and rice dish similar to what my mom makes . Now I know it's not possible to get that from a restaurant, but the closest to that is the Donne biryani preparation that a few places offer in the Bay Area. So I looked up Yelp and found this spot. The fact that it already had 4.9 stars was reassuring but I didn't put too many expectations on it. But what I did was call the place and make sure they'd be open by the time I made that 28 mile drive. I spoke to a person named Sagar who took my order and told me to take my time getting there and drive carefully! Husband and I got there around 9:30pm and it's a cloud kitchen setup with kitchens in the back and a point of sale kiosk and counter at the front. As instructed I called Sagar and he came up to the counter with my food, and also let me know he had added a free dessert since I drove all the way from Hayward . Husband and I got home and immediately dug in and what can I say, the flavors totally took me back to my mom's kitchen. The Donne biryani was bursting with taste, and what made it superb was that the flavors were in balance, with neither the spices nor the aromatics being overpowering in any way. The other dish, the pepper chicken was epic by itself, and should have been enjoyed with a bread of some sort, because the biryani didn't need any accompaniment. As if this meal wasn't divine enough the cherry on top was the pineapple kesari dessert that Sagar kindly added to our takeout bag. Thanks Nalapaka, for a taste of home, away from home !

It was packed with the flavor and the rice and chicken were cooked perfectly. The onions ? Literal jammy perfection. My only note is I wish they put more of those onions because they're sooo good. The raita was also on the watery side but the biryani is just so delicious I'll forgive it. It's also the perfect spice level, but they bring you the sauce on the side if you want it even spicier. Also ordered the fried baby corn which we will pass on next time. They were good but not as much flavor as I'd hoped. The service was great and I appreciated the server's honesty in letting us know we definitely ordered enough food between us both LOL. Some of the best restaurant discoveries happen by complete accident…read more We were actually on our way to AnnachiKarahi when gps informed us it had moved and been replaced by Charminar. While my husband drove, I quickly pulled up the Yelp page. The menu immediately caught my attention, but I'll admit I was hesitant. There were only a handful of reviews, and the ratings didn't quite match the ambition of the menu. Still, Hyderabadi cuisine is one of India's great culinary traditions, and it's surprisingly underrepresented in the Bay Area. Curiosity won. I'm so glad it did. Having visited Hyderabad, I know it as a city obsessed with food, a place where recipes reflect centuries of Nizami, Mughlai, Persian, and Telugu influences. While many restaurants here advertise themselves as Hyderabadi, they often stop at biryani. Charminar embraces the breadth of the cuisine, with everything from mandi and gongura specialties to chicken sukka, Mughlai curries, and, on weekends, freshly made rumali rotis. That alone made me stop and take notice. The restaurant itself is warm and inviting, with tasteful artwork celebrating the Hyderabad cityscape and the iconic Charminar. The staff matched the atmosphere: genuinely welcoming, knowledgeable, and eager to guide us through the menu without ever rushing us. The meal began with refreshing drinks before quickly moving into what became one of the highlights of the evening: the kebabs. The Lasooni Kebab and the Malai Kebab were exceptional. Both were astonishingly tender the kind of tenderness that only comes from patient marination and careful cooking. The Malai Kebab, in particular, was outstanding. Delicate notes of ginger and garlic layered into a creamy marinade, finished with the unmistakable whisper of charcoal smoke, created a kebab that was elegant rather than heavy. It was one of the finest versions I've had in the Bay Area. For the mains, we ordered the Chicken Sukka and Lal Chicken alongside the weekend rumali rotis. Paper-thin, almost like silk, they arrived impossibly soft and stayed that way throughout the meal. Anyone who has searched for authentic rumali roti in the Bay Area knows how rare that is. Too often they become rubbery within minutes. And it's rare to find it on menus so get your hands on it (weekends only!) The Chicken Sukka was my favorite curry of the evening. Layers of roasted coconut, deeply caramelized onions, warming spices, and beautifully cooked chicken came together in a dish that was both rustic and deeply satisfying. The Lal Chicken surprised me. Given the name, I expected assertive heat, but instead found a curry that leaned sweeter and tangier than anticipated. Not a flaw, just a different interpretation than I had expected. And then came the dish that reminded me why Hyderabad occupies such a revered place in India's culinary landscape. The Gosht Dum Biryani. If you visit on a weekend, don't overthink your order. Get it. Anyone can pile onions and masala onto rice and call it biryani. True dum biryani is a lesson in restraint. Every grain of rice should carry the perfume of saffron, whole spices, stock, and meat, without relying on excess seasoning. The rice itself should be compelling enough to eat on its own. Charminar gets this exactly right. Every spoonful was fragrant and beautifully balanced. The lamb was meltingly tender, yielding effortlessly from the bone, while the mirchi ka salan added earthy warmth and the raita brought just enough freshness to complete the experience. It was, without question, the standout dish of the evening and among the better Hyderabadi biryanis I've had in the Bay Area. The most exciting part is that we barely scratched the surface of the menu. Finding a restaurant that doesn't simply borrow Hyderabad's famous name but genuinely celebrates the diversity of its cuisine is rare. Charminar feels like it was built by people who understand what makes the city's food so beloved. What a wonderful addition to Sunnyvale. I sincerely hope the community gives this restaurant the attention it deserves. We'll certainly be back Congratulations to the Charminar team.

Harry also helped us with setting a small garbage to throw our disposable plates and silverware, which was really helpful. Thank you Chaat Bhavan for a memorable and delicious dinner!

We were invited to dine at this restaurant in Mountain View. I thought it was far from home…read more The restaurant was big, our waiter was hospitable and accommodating. My favorites were the Pakoras, Cauliflower Manchurian and the Noodles. First time trying the noodles at an Indian restaurant and reminded me of a spicy chow mein. The Saag Paneer was good. I didn't try the garbanzos because I just had too many of those at recent parties. Overall, it was okay but still I wouldn't come back due to the far location. 45 minute drive is just too far from home for me.
