The place is small and the design seems very random, with many things on the walls that try saying "you are in Italy" but failing. Service was sub-standard, with one of the workers not really paying attention to me as a customer and looked extremely annoyed all the time. In regards to the food: I got a burrata sandwich with ciabatta bread. It was good and quite big, the only thing I didnt like much was the prosciutto di parma used (seems commercial, I think ferrarini, from a plastic bag based on the shape of it). For 20 bucks and a place that says is Italian I'd expect them to cut the prosciutto at the moment. This is an okay place for a quick bite but no more than that... and this comes from an Italian who knows about food and service. read more

can only speak to the sandwiches, but Panineria definitely delivers when it comes to Italian flavors. Even though I came in close to closing, the staff were welcoming and provided great service. I'm always drawn to spicy Italian meats, so I went with the Diamante--loaded with spicy salame, provolone, and olive oil--and it absolutely hit the spot. Really flavorful and satisfying. Overall, I'm glad I stumbled across this place and would definitely recommend it for sandwiches. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu. read more

I contacted Panineria to cater a lunch meeting in the office after it was recommended to me by one of my colleagues. The order was placed late last week for today. Placing the order via their website was very simple, and I received a confirmation via email right away. They communicated to me on the day of the meeting with an update that their A/C wasn't working and they were going to close early. However, that didn't prevent them from delivering the food order in time for the meeting. The food was delicious. There weren't any leftovers. The food itself was good -- nothing mind blowing but tasty. However, we asked for our food to go and after paying our while and waiting a bit, we never received our to go food (which was like almost 2 whole sandwiches). I forgot about it because we lingered for a while and I'm not sure why it would take so long to pack up a sandwich. Partially on me for forgetting, but also disappointed in the slow service. Narrow sandwich spot with some viability as a hidden sit-down restaurant that serves alcohol. Very fast service and fresh sandwiches. I don't have a particularly strong opinion on how it stacks up against the rapidly-spreading All'Antico Vinaio or the other gourmet sandwich shops all over the Village. It tasted good, although the focaccia was a bit soggy by the end, and the POS tip percentage was on top of tax, making the sandwich + lemonade a bit pricey ($35+) for what should be a go-to lunch stop. read more

Plenty of options available at this elegant pasta and panini spot. Sure, the gourmet sandwiches are pricey, but they're big, and the quality of the ingredients is top. I split a Fresh Truffle on an onion focaccia that was to-die for. Their sangria is also very good, and so was their complementary pistachio cream shot... mmh. The tiramisu was very little for its price tag. The staff is super nice, too. I had the focaccia with potato which was the star of my sandwich. So soft, buttery, and a slight crunch from the potatoes. The perfect bite. I felt the prosciutto to be a little salty and the sandwich I had modified to have no cheese but still came out $20. Spending more & more time in the city these days. Saw a post about Panineria somewhere with a positive review and decided to have a sanddd-A-beeech. Drove to St Marks Pl. Walked in, it's a small place in a 'residential' neighborhood off of 5th Ave. This was mid afternoon. There were people walking in & picking up orders. It does have a few tables for 'dinning in'. It looked clean & had a nice aroma of... herbs & food. The staff was extremely friendly. After perusing the menu for a few minutes, decided on the Fresh Truffle sanddd-A-beeech (prosciutto de parma, organic mozzarella, truffle cream, organic arugula & truffle oil). I had a choice of three breads - baguette, ciabatta or potato focaccia. I chose the potato focaccia based on two recommendation from the staff, ordered it warm. Finally it came out, back to grandma's. Woe, that is huge, Jurassic Park size. Probably feed a family of four from elsewhere in the world. I was somewhat disappointed with the flavor of the potato focaccia - lacked something...seasoning...onion, like a French potato/onion tart... Will be back soon read more

Came here twice on a 4 day trip. The sandwiches are made with a lot of organic and super high quality ingredients and SO GOOD. The service is very nice and attentive for such a spot. Panineria is unique I think because it kind of skirts the line between an italian sandwich shop and a nicer italian restaurant. The spot in the village is quite small, but cozy feeling instead of cramped. The sandwiches are great, with great bread (I had a potato foccaccia sandwich which was a first for me). Came here for an event. It's a cozy Panini shop that also has pasta. I like the lemon trees wrapped around the pipes above the counter, and they have fun Halloween decorations up. Tried a few different sandwiches. Service was friendly. Bread was great, as was the mozzarella and salami. Going to have to come back and try a couple others. read more

We visited Panineria and tried 2 sandwiches from their special menu that just came out! They are both amazing and wonderful. First we tried the 4 Cheese Lover Sandwich on their baguette. The baguette is just the right amount of crispiness and not hard! The sandwich is really cheesy and flavorful, with every bite blending the flavors of four different cheeses. Next is the Chicken Cordon Blue Sandwich on their ciabatta. It had a juicy chicken cutlet, Italian ham, and fresh mozzarella. The sandwich came out so hot that it was still steamy when I got halfway through! It was simple, flavorful, and so satisfying. For dessert, we had a lemon sorbet with peach purée. It is perfect for summer. We also had the rich chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. Definitely will visit again! read more

Buono. Fresh ingredients, good bread, fair prices. Great service. It was worth the trip to check it out. To compare with other similar places, I felt the ingredients and bread are fresher/more tasty than the chain Antico Vinnaio. I can't speak for the OG location on Sullivan where I had some of the best sandwich memories of my life but have not been back for many years and only visit their franchise locations which are subpar compared to panineria. I hope that as panineria expands that it will maintain that same quality I experienced today. One nitpick is that the restaurant was a bit dark for lunch and was lighted as if for dinner service. I love the lunchtime vibe a Da Capo and wish it was a similar vibe here but I guess they have a more extensive menu and want to give a more formal restaurant feel.
