    Lemon Ricotta Blueberry Pancankes
    Josh B.

These may be the best pancakes I've had in the city. People rave about this other resturant that is French in Brooklyn and has a three part french name. I've reviewed them and found their portions to be lacking and the price to be overly expensive, even for NYC. Instead come here. The pancakes are similar, meaning that these are better. Crispy edges, fluffy center, doused in real maple syrup, with macerated berries. It's lovely and feels fancy without breaking the bank. Their bacon was also perfect. High quality crispy, but not burnt. Just perfect. This place is SO GOOD. I would say get here before 11am as it fills up and you may not want to fight the (older) Chelsea brunch crowd.

Stopped by La Bergamote for a large black iced coffee, which came out to $5.40. Simple, smooth, and exactly what I wanted. What stood out just as much as the coffee was the space itself. The café has a warm vibe with marble tables, vintage-style lighting, and a pastry case that immediately grabs your attention.

We were going to Chelsea market to walk around and eat breakfast, but didn't realize that even though the market opens early, most of the tenants don't open until much later! So we decided to look for a restaurant relatively close by, and found this place. OH MY GOSH, their breakfast was amazing. Our group of 7 all agreed it was the best breakfast we had on our visit in New York. I got the Lemon Ricotta Blueberry Pancakes, and it was perfect. Pancakes had the barest crunch on the outside, soft and gooey with sweetness on the inside, and the berries add a nice sweet tartness to the whole dish. Definitley a must visit for breakfast. I don't have a photo but also tried their scrambled eggs and again, perfectly executed french scrambled eggs. Wonderful. The people working there were very nice too!

Solid food, mid-tier service. I came in with a group of 6 for brunch, but note that they don't take reservations. I came here to try the pancakes, and they were quite good! Their only pancake option is the lemon ricotta blueberry pancakes. It comes as a standard two stack, and is crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, which is the exact texture I love. I was a bit disappointed that I couldn't taste the lemon or ricotta moistness, but overall these are a solid stack. The maple syrup isn't overdone, and the pancakes were cooked perfectly. The wait staff were not very attentive nor friendly, which was a bit sad given how quaint and small the cafe/restaurant is.

I went for breakfast while visiting New York with friends. I had the croissant and the chicken apple sausage. Both were pretty standard and kept me full. The server was also very friendly and attentive. It was a very cute place as well! Everyone else really enjoyed their meals.

We came for bakery items but they had no cake style desserts. They had lots of beautiful mousse style desserts and other lovely choices. Sadly that's not what my friend was craving. I had the Bleu cheese burger and it was delicious. It had a really thick block of cheese and nice crispy bacon . The fries were skinny and fresh. They had a very nice wine list.

La Bergamote used to be a favorite pastry stop for me years ago because a friend of mine really loved this place. They are still as lovely as ever and the pastries are still excellent.

Probably the most tasteful French food I've had outside of France! Ambiance was simple, service was good but come for the food! We started with the onion soup of course a good classic and it was excellent. My husband had the steak frites and delicious! The star of the show for us though was the Cajun chicken, the seasoning was perfect, the bird was juicy and all cut into perfect portions. Desserts also can't be missed! This will be a regular go to when I'm back in NYC.

It's a small cafe, not fancy. The staff covered both indoor and outdoor seatings and was quite busy though they were friendly and the service was adequate. I had Eggs Baltic which was delicious. I highly recommend it. I also had a lemon tart to go which was tasty as well.

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: A cute dessert shop on the corner that had a lot of patronage and a wide selection to choose from. The extended review... Food: 3/5 - We got a few desserts ranging from pistachio to strawberry to lemon. The taste was standard fare. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 4/5 - Some seating both indoor and outdoor. When we went seating was fairly hard to find but we were lucky.

The AppleCelery soup was very delicious and vegan. This is my favorite spot better than the Reserve. My opinion.

I had French Onion soup and a Croque Madame sandwich. Both were alright--soup was salty and the sandwich tasted kind-of bland. Service was the opposite of friendly and tried to hurry me out when I was taking my time and there were open tables after 2pm. There seemed to be a lot of regulars and it was pretty loud. I loved the glass case of pastries, but am glad I went elsewhere nearby for coffee.

Images of bills for parties of two from 2 adjacent tables. See the difference.

You have a choice of meats, so we chose the grilled chicken. Second, we ordered the falafel bowl that includes three falafels, pickled onions, avocado, cucumber, whipped garlic feta, kale salad, romesco, and Za'atar dressing that had a delicious flavor. However, our ultimate favorite had to be the Thai Crunch Wrap with sweet potato fries. It was fairly busy, and our drinks took a while to come, but the food arrived shortly after. Think vintage wallpaper, little knick-knacks, and warm lighting. It's got character. I ordered the market salad with mixed greens, honeycrisp apples, goat cheese, candied pecans, and sherry vinaigrette. It was a hearty portion - super fresh and flavorful, and honestly more than I could finish (not a complaint!). I also ordered a Diet Pepsi with grenadine; they don't carry Diet Coke, which I almost docked a point for, but the mix was unexpectedly delicious. Highly recommend it. My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water.
