Da Rosario is our go to for when we want Italian delivery. The penne alla vodka, pizza and fries is our typical order because it consistently hits the spot. The portion sizes are generous and easily sharable. Orders arrive within a timely manner. And prices are pretty consistent with competitors. Although we haven't gotten the chance to dine in recently, the times we have in the past, the food was equally as great. The Nachos Italiano are amazzzingggg - unique and deliciously cheesy! Absolutely loved this place!! I visited when this place was called Panini Grill years ago but it seems they have done some rebranding, and it is working great for them!! It is an authentic Italian restaurant and definitely deserves some recognition. There are also nice decorations around the space, a flower and candle on the table, etc., and we came on a night when they were having a large birthday party so we got to hear some live music performances during dinner. The staff is all very friendly & so helpful with menu suggestions and questions, even on a busy night. I believe the owner came over and checked on us twice on top of our server, which is always a very nice touch! Apart from the great service, the food was outstanding! We started with the burrata and it was amazing - so creamy and tasty. That and the combination of tomatoes, arugula, and bread with balsamic was divine. We did not leave any crumbs! Their bread basket was delicious, and man, the pesto gnocchi was absolutely phenomenal!! It was perfectly flavored and home-made. The gnocchi was soft and pillowy, just the way gnocchi should be. It transported me to Italy. :) The pesto tasted so fresh and herby, and it was just the perfect dish. Highly suggest the gnocchi al pesto! The vodka pizza was also to die for. I ordered their Tuesday Special last night - 2 parm dishes for $30. The bread they include is MONEY. It is fantastic twist bread with sesame seeds. However, the chicken parm (both dishes were chicken parm) was just BAD. The chicken was hard and dry. The breading was thicker than the chicken as well. The Pasta was not great either. While the Tuesday Special would be a good value if food was good, it is worthless with such bad food. This is the last time I will try this Da Rosario - I even blocked their text number. read more

There was red and white wine on every table and a fantastic selection of beers in the cooler. Each table received 2 loaded platters of cold appetizer foods which included Sopressata, Genoa Salami, Roasted Peppers, Cheeses, Prosciutto, Olives and Mozzarella. In the meantime, delicious house made oven hot rolls were delivered to each table and just came coming throughout the meal. Each table then received 2 loaded platters of hot appetizer foods which included Fried Calamari, Eggplant Rollatini, Arancini, and Stuffed Clams. FABULOUS!!!! Next we all enjoyed a garden salad made with lettuce, tomatoes, onion, olives, with delicious house made dressing. Well, you guessed it our next course was pasta. The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce or as some call it gravy was fantastic. We all had a choice of 3 entrees which included Fish or Eggplant Rollatini or Steak. My wife had fish, and I had steak each served with mashed potato and vegetable. We finished with a tray of Italian Pastries, a celebration cake for the soon to be newborn and coffee. Everyone was totally impressed with the food, quantity and service. On October 24 they are having a Halloween Party with dinner and dancing, which I believe my wife and I are planning to attend, and we live in Bergen County but that's how wonderful a place this is. here for my 60th, the place is decorated for Christmas and very festive. We were greeted by our waiter who was very nice. This is a BYOB. Started out with warm fresh bread however eat it within 15 minutes because it turns to toast. Dress a little warm and casual. It's 55 degrees outside but inside is on the cool side. We started out with Nachos Italiano which is wonton chip, sausage cheese sauce and a cornucopia of stuff. They are light, airy and Very very good this will easily feed 5 people. Doggie bag please. We then ordered Polo Daniel which is chicken, shrimp and mushroom in a cream sauce. The kitchen split the meal for us which was very nice. The chicken was a tad dry however the cream sauce was amazing and hid the dryness. The pasta side was fresh and very good. one dinner was def plenty for both of us. We are older now and really don't eat much. Sh*t happens. Ended with sharing the Molton chocolate cake with ice cream. Again nice portion and very good. I'm giving this 4 stars and not 5 only because the up charge of $5 for gluten free. As much as I'd like to not say something I just fell like it's just a bit much. Now the positive, the woman who helped me Angela was amazing, and sat with me and went over each ingredient in the label of the "panini bread" aka pizza crust and I was excited because we use these at home. They take great caution with your meal and I was told they clean up before the make your meal. The grilled chicken burrata sundried tomatoes arugula and side of pesto was wonderful. Our daughter made a reservation and never mentioned closed for a large baby shower group. We were seated by ourselves behind a curtain, group was extremely noisy and food was disappointing. Had a 7pm reservation on Friday night and good thing we used Open Table. It was very busy and also very loud. Acoustics are not great here as we could barely hear each other. The menu was pretty large and filled with lots of Italian selections including Paninis. It's definitely not just Paninis. The menu has plenty of pastas, brick oven pizzas, (which looked good), entrees, salads and appetizers. I opted for the Primavera pasta in white wine sauce with rigatoni. Honestly, it was just OK and probably the reason for my 3 star review. My husband had the Momma Salad with steak and enjoyed it. Our friend had a Panini and didn't seem to eat much and took most of her panini home. No desserts. Funny by 815, the entire restaurant cleared out. Where did everyone go? It was Friday night in Freehold. Maybe if I go back again it would be for lunch with less noise and a nice salad. Our server Andrew did a great job. We had dinner at Da Rosario last night for the first time. We will definitely be back! We loved the place. The decor, the service and of course the food, all excellent! Best pizza (had the Margherita as an appetizer), also had the hot antipasto which had an array of incredible bites and a large amount of fried calamari that was crisp and delicious, then we had the Pollo Daniel and the table side Cacio e Pepe -- both amazing! For dessert we had the table side Tiramisu -- it was delicious! Love that it's BYOB because we prefer to bring our own wine. The owner, Rosario, is caring and attentive and made us feel so welcome in his establishment. Just wish it was closer to where we live, but we'll be sure to frequent this amazing restaurant as often as possible! read more

Originally I was weary of trying here because my friend said it wasn't good. She couldn't have been more wrong! It's the brother of the Panini Grill on SI. We started off with the meatballs and arancini...both were tasty! We had a crispy chicken panini, salad & penne rustica. Everything was really, really good! I've eaten there, numerous times, and always had a delicious meal. The portions are large so be prepared to take some home. The specials are always creative so don't think you can get these at any other restaurant, Italian or otherwise. Desserts are always great. I always leave room for some, or I just take it home. The service has always been great, friendly, polite, and accommodating. The ambiance is nice, especially when it's decorated for the holidays! There are always holiday parties, Halloween, Christmas, which have a full course meal and loads of fun with music and dancing. I've been to several and always has been a great experience. Rosario also is an event planner and caters private events with the classiest decor you can imagine. I am looking forward to having him plan an event for me. I am Italian, I grew up in Brooklyn, and Brooklyn pizza is the best on the planet. That said there ARE some great pizza restaurants here in Monmouth County. While in Freehold for a family member's wedding, my parents and I were looking for a nice spot to grab dinner. Across from our hotel, we saw signs for this place and thought a Panini sounded delicious. We were all glad we came! It was around 6:30-7pm on a Friday night when we noticed a small sign for this restaurant across from our hotel. The restaurant is on Main St. in downtown Freehold, but slightly hidden within a plaza (we only noticed it due to a small sign on the street). There was a plenty big parking lot in front though. When we walked in, the place was packed! Luckily, they were able to find us a table in the back. The hostess was working hard but was very pleasant and cordial. The waiter we had was alright, though he could've done a better job checking on our table throughout the evening. The restaurant was buzzing with families, friends, and chatter but remained clean and never came across as too loud. To start, they bring out complementary bread and marinara, which was very good. The menu contained all sorts of Italian favorites but we were most interested in the Paninis. The variety was great, something for any palate. I ordered the "S17" on their default white brick oven bread, grilled: grilled chicken, fresh mozzarella, bruschetta, and arugula. For three Paninis, it took about 20-25 minutes, which we were fine with as the restaurant was incredibly busy. Each Panini arrived on a big, wood paddle, split into halves, and, my goodness, each Panini was ginormous! The bread was toasted to perfection: each bite was crispy with the perfect amount of crunch. The ingredients inside were plenty hot and very fresh. The amount of grilled chicken in my Panini was incredible and had great flavor. The mozzarella was melted perfectly and blended well with the arugula. The bruschetta was generously spread throughout each half as well. This Panini was phenomenal, from the taste to the portion served, I would order this again in a heartbeat if I come back to Freehold. I was plenty full after eating both halves. We also ordered a side of their sweet potato fries as we weren't sure if the Paninis would be enough (which, again, they were plenty!). I would also order the sweet potato fries again. These were perhaps the best sweet potato fries I have ever had: they were thick cut, seasoned perfectly, and cooked to crispy perfection, while not being overly crunchy. The food was amazing and the service was pretty good for being busy on a Friday night. The only mis-step was from waiting for our check. Our waiter took it but didn't return. We waited for almost 20 minutes before I finally stepped up front and asked. They had already ran our credit card through but they forgot to bring it back to our table. All-in-all, our experience here was great, I would definitely come here again. Maybe try the pizza next time. :) read more

We had a large family & friends group attend a baby shower at Da Rosario's in Freehold yesterday. It was a cozy restaurant that left me with the best impression! The ambiance is very welcoming when you walked in, charming, & the ambiance was stunning. The tables had beautiful presentations, down to the tables being animal safari themed, (you can pick what theme you want and he will accommodate you) and tables were set up with gorgeous greenery centerpieces, stuffed animals on the table, down to the gorgeous chandeliers with exquisite top notch designing. Rosario, the owner was accommodating and you can tell he wanted his customers happy and they were his main priority. All the food selections were delicious, & love the Italian classics. I family visited the Panini grill. Heard great things about this place. First off the bread on the table definitely seems fresh with the marinara; nice touch. We ordered appetizers Fried calamari and Baked Clams. To our surprise the baked clams had something very wrong with them. The chef confirm this and we had to take it off the bill. The fried calamari felt rubbery and wasn't really anything special. My Panini was fine. I put it on focaccia thinking it was a standard focaccia bread, but it didn't come across as one. I tasted an Americano on white bread and thought that was better. The highlight of my night was is the donuts. This is one of the tastiest desserts I've ever tasted. Donuts were stuffed with cannoli cream and topped with a raspberry jelly. It was damn good. I recommend coming for dessert and having those donuts. The Panini were average. Not sure if it's worth the price, but I would definitely get this place to try once. If you're disappointed with the meals definitely get the desserts. read more

First time we came here and loved it. It was recently bought in Februrary. Used to be San Marzano. This is much improved with a wider menu of favorites....various pizza options, panini, fresh fish and seafood, steak, veal, chicken entrees which come with pasta or veggies. I ordered a veal Milanese which was not on menu but they made it for me. I was very impressed by updated decor, great service, fair prices and delicious food and portion size. Came in on a Friday night, I was surprised it wasn't more crowded but was happy to get a table right away! The servers were very attentive and so friendly. We started with a plain pizza and asked for it a little well done- it came out perfect and we all agreed that it was one of the best pies we've had!
