This a a BYOB restaurant specializing in their homemade brick oven pizza and pastas. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. So my family took me to Sette for Mother's Day Dinner. We had 7:15 Reservations and were seated right near the door (there were 5 of us) at 7:30. I should've asked to be moved, but it would've been a long wait, so we stayed there. Not great. People standing in the small vestibule laughing and talking right near my son's arm. Not pleasant. We were greeted pretty quickly and she took our wine order. We asked for tap water as well. One of our sons ordered a mocktail. She came back with a different wine in the same price point and said what we ordered sold out. Ok. No big deal. My son's Mocktail was no where to be seen. Neither was the water. Someone brought over olive oil and salt and pepper. But we then sat there for 20 minutes with no bread and no water. The bread finally came and so did the water, but at this point I was a bit annoyed. Still no mocktail. She took our app orders. She bought two of the three. The third took another ten minutes. But the apps were really very good. She then took all of our orders. We asked about the mocktail. (They have really delicious ones) She said "oh my I forgot!" Left. Came back and said the ingredients were out and could he choose a different one. He did. When it finally showed up he tasted it. Awful! It tasted like pickles! They did take it off the bill, but our son ended up with water. Then our meals came. Both sons ordered Pastaa Carbonara. BOTH orders were runny and ice cold (Carbonara is creamy). We sent both dishes back. We asked for another bottle of the wine. That came right away. She picked up the empty bottle, but she saw someone flag her down and she left it on the table. The table was kinda crowded so this was not good either. Meanwhile the rest of us had our meals. They did make it completely fresh, and it was good when they finally got it. Took awhile for them to clear the table and then they took the empty wine bottle, but I had to ask them to. So we ordered coffee and desserts. I asked for cream and splenda. My coffee and dessert came, as did the others. No cream. No sugar or splenda. Waited. Kept waiting. Couldn't get anyone's attention. No one brought it. My husband got up and went to the back to ask for it. She apologized and brought it five minutes later. So I'm giving it 2 stars because the food was good (when it was fresh and hot), but the service not so much. I know it was Mother's Day, but shouldn't there have been more wait staff scheduled because of that? By the time we got dessert the restaurant was mostly empty. We should not have had to get up to ask for cream etc. We had been there in the past with friends, not on a holiday, and it was much better. But I was not really happy at all with the restaurant choice after this experience. I think they definitely over booked and without the staff to meet that need it fell very very short. read more

"All that glitters is not gold." While I had high expectations for this snazzy suburban Italian spot, to borrow from Shakespeare, that line pretty much sums up my experience at Sette. Last night, my wife, our friends, and I braved the chaos of Marlboro Main Street's jam-packed strip mall parking lot and finally found ourselves tucked into a cozy corner table amid the Saturday night bustle. Let me start with the positives: the service was outstanding. Any qualms I have about Sette don't reflect the hardworking and attentive staff. From the moment we sat down, our waitress seemed to read our minds--setting out wine glasses to let our red breathe and even providing sphere ice cups for the little BYOB cocktail bar we had going. Impressive touch. Now, onto the food. The menu spans the full Italian-American spectrum--Chicken Parm, Zuppa di Clams, and so on--while also dipping into some more adventurous territory with dishes like Churrasco with chimichurri and a Cookie Butter Tres Leches. Ambitious? Absolutely. But as soon as you glance at the prices, you realize Sette is aiming to play in the big leagues: appetizers in the $20s, pastas in the $30s, and mains climbing from the high $30s to the low $100s. And that's fine if the food can back it up. Unfortunately, it didn't. Here's what we ordered and how it fared: Tre-Color Pizza: Good crust, but the "three flavors" on top didn't taste like much of anything. Fritto di Mare: Probably the best bite of the night--crispy, well-fried seafood with a solid marinara. The zucchini, though, was forgettable. Zuppa di Clams: It's clams in marinara sauce. Nothing wrong, nothing memorable. House-Made Tagliatelle: Fresh Pasta typically takes 2 minutes or so to cook. Somehow they undercooked it. That takes skill, just not the good kind. Short Rib Paccheri: Properly al dente, but for a dish boasting short rib and 'nduja butter, it lacked punch just beef mush without flavor depth. Lobster Ravioli: $40 for six ravioli swimming in a cream sauce that tasted more like water than cream. Hard pass. Churrasco: At $49, we expected a tender, juicy skirt steak. Instead, we got a steak that was chewey, full of gristle, and not prime. The chimichurri, though, was bright and flavorful--maybe the best thing on the table. Crème Brûlée: Fine. Not bad, not great. Cookie Butter Tres Leches: A sleeper hit--moist, flavorful, and probably the one dish that should be a permanent menu item. While I'd typically call this a solid 3-star spot, the sky-high prices ($500+ without alcohol for six people) paired with middling food drop it to 2 stars in my book. If Sette really wants to stand out, they might consider leaning into the South American side of their menu--because the few dishes that shined all seemed to have their roots on that side of the Atlantic. read more

Nice spot. 2nd time there. Food is delicious. Had PEI mussels in a red sauce for our appetizer that were very good. Wife had Lamb lollipops that were perfectly cooked and delicious. I had the Pork chop which was equally great. Both dishes were meats from Pat Lafreida and perfect cuts of meat. Jonathan was our waiter and he was very attentive to our needs. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night and packed, so it was a little loud in the main dining room. Last time we were in the back on the side which was a little quieter. Still a great experience. Prices aren't too bad unless you order the aged steaks which can get expensive. Highly recommend. read more

Listen, I love lively places with a good ambiance. It makes for a fun time. This places gives just that. The seating might get you a bit too intimate with your neighbors back though. The group had two pizzas, clams, spaghetti and a salad. The spaghetti was a bit watery and it was the only disappointment here. However, I am glad and disappointed that I need to get reservations to get good pizza like this. For a county packed with pizzarias they are all cookie cutters places that lack care and no one delivers the quality sette does. I'll definitely be back for their pizza! read more

Tried making a reservation online but the time I wanted wasn't available so I called in and was able to make the reservation. When we arrived, we were seated promptly on their side area. It's a cute setting but the seats are placed way too close to each other. My back was literally against a person's back at another table. We ordered and were given bread while we waited, which wasn't too long. Our dishes came out all at once, so there wasn't much room at the table. We ordered the mussel appetizer with red sauce, the Sette salad, a margherita pizza and a vegetable pizza, the spaghetti vongole with red sauce and a side of truffle fries. The seafood was fresh, the salad was large and the pizza was crisp. It did get a little soggy while sitting there and the margherita pie was slightly too salty. The sauce for the mussels was thick and full of garlic though the red sauce for the spaghetti was a little watery. Truffle fries were perfect. read more

I was truly impressed with my experience at Sette! We came on a Saturday night and honestly I am shocked they were not more packed. We made a reservation in advance and were seated right away. They do a have a bit of a large menu so there is truly something for everyone. We opted for a pizza for the table and the truffle ricotta, they were both crowd pleasers. The whipped truffle ricotta was a great portion; the focaccia was light and airy and the ricotta had just the right amount of truffle that it was not overpowering. The pizza dough was also light, and they did not skimp out on the toppings. As for entrees, we all opted for a pasta dish and everyone loved theirs. The carbonara was creamy, and had the perfect hints of salt from the crispy guanciale. As for dessert, the cookie butter tiramisu is a must try. I really liked how they had such a large range even for the dessert menu. Our waitress was kind and attentive, she was sure to make note of the specials for the night and made us feel welcome during our first time dining here. To note, this place is BYOB, they do serve select wines and they have a menu of mocktails. Our waitress let us know that you can also bring your own liquor that you can add to your mocktails! I recently visited Sette, a wood fire bistro, for a Friday night dinner. We made a reservation in advance, just in case it was crowded. While the restaurant wasn't packed, there were a good number of tables already occupied. The holiday decorations created a cozy, romantic atmosphere perfect for a date night, and the live music was a lovely touch. The performers played Christmas songs and smooth jazz, adding to the festive vibe. However, the restaurant's small space makes it clear they're trying to optimize seating. This led to the tables being quite close together, which made navigating to our seats and the exit challenging--especially with bulky winter coats. This might not be as much of an issue in the warmer months, but it's worth noting for winter diners. In addition, the table arrangement left something to be desired. Most tables were angled toward the performers to give guests a great view of the live music. Unfortunately, our table (along with two others) wasn't angled, leaving my back to the performers the entire time. With a reservation, I would have hoped for a table with a better view. For appetizers, we ordered the fritto di mare and grilled octopus. The fritto di mare was excellent--the calamari was fresh and perfectly breaded, and I appreciated the extra care in deveining the shrimp. The marinara sauce was a standout, with a subtle hint of creamy cheese flavor that elevated the dish. The grilled octopus, however, was a bit of a letdown. While it was tender and had a nice charcoal flavor, it was slightly overcooked, leaving the outer skin with a slimy texture from the collagen. It was served on a bed of heirloom pumpkin purée with grilled blood oranges. While the purée was creamy and buttery, it didn't taste like pumpkin, and the flavors of the dish didn't blend harmoniously. It felt like each component was competing rather than complementing. For our entrée, we really wanted to try the pizza, as that is what Sette advertises itself for. We chose the arugula pizza, expecting the thin, crispy, yet chewy crust that wood-fired pizzas are known for. Unfortunately, the pizza was a major letdown. The crust was soggy and sopping with liquid and moisture. I'm not sure if it was the toppings or the preparation, but it didn't live up to the expectations of a wood-fired pizza. I'm unsure if these missteps are due to Sette recently opening and still finding its groove or if this is just how it is. I do plan to return in the summer once they've been running for a few months. Hopefully, with more time under their belt, the experience will improve, and I'll give another pizza a try to see if the outcome is different. Overall, Sette offers a cozy ambiance with thoughtful touches like live music and festive decor. While some dishes stood out, there were several areas that left room for improvement. read more

I keep coming back to Sette in Marlboro because the hospitality is just that good--and the food keeps calling me back for more. This time, I was excited to check out their beautiful new outdoor patio and try some of their delicious summer specials, and once again, Sette did not disappoint. We kicked things off with the classic meatballs, followed by the summer-perfect cantaloupe, burrata, and prosciutto appetizer, which was chef's kiss. I'm now fully convinced that crispy prosciutto is the only way to eat prosciutto--total game changer. Next up was the hot honey 'roni pizza, which had the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, and savory. Their pizza is consistently outstanding. We also had the short rib, which was tender, hearty, and comforting, and the hanger steak special, served with spinach, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, and topped with a flavorful mushroom demi-glace--each bite was so satisfying. And of course, no meal is complete without dessert. The deconstructed Mille foglie made in house was as delicious as it was fun to eat, and the chocolate mousse was rich and indulgent. Any place whose motto is "feed me pizza and pour me wine" is absolutely my kind of spot--and I'm lucky to have this gem so close to home. The ambiance is nice and the waitstaff is amazing. The food very subpar for the prices. We ordered chicken parm, it came cold the cheese was barely melted. Seems like they took a premade chicken cutlet added cheese and sauce and warmed it under a broiler but for a few seconds. The grilled octopus way so chewy we had to really go at it to be able to swallow. Steak was chewy and over salted. Pizza was ok. Not sure if we would actively make a choice to come back. read more

I'm giving this two stars only because the food and our server were great, otherwise, it would be a zero. We had a reservation for a party of 15 at 8:30pm but weren't seated until 9:30pm. While an hour-long wait for a reserved table is ridiculous, the hostess was a real nightmare. She was incredibly rude and responded to our questions with nothing but attitude and eye rolls. This wasn't just bad service, she was being hostile and aggressive, to the point where she shoved two of our friends with the door. Management seriously needs to reconsider who they have representing them. This girl clearly hates her job and has zero people skills. Honestly, for the sake of the restaurant's reputation, she needs to be fired or replaced with someone else that is better fit for the job. Once we were finally seated, our server Cory was an absolute sweetheart. He clearly saw the mess we'd dealt with and went above and beyond to turn our night around. He was extremely attentive and kind. The food was delicious and the birthday platter was a hit but it's a shame the management allows one person at the front door to ruin the reputation of an entire kitchen and service staff. Hot Honey Pepperoni pizza was very disappointing -- barely any sauce, cheese or flavor. You basically are eating spicy pepperoni on bread. My Chicken Milanese was equally disappointing. The chicken was pounded so thin it was all crust. My son rated his rigatoni vodka worse than store bought Rau's. The service was ok, but glad I noticed that 3 bottles of water that we didn't order were incorrectly added to the bill. With so many great Italian restaurants in the area, don't waste your time going to this one. read more

First time here after seeing this restaurant pop up all over Instagram. Cheryl was our server and she was awesome. Super kind, attentive and detail oriented regarding our dietary restrictions. The restaurant was beautiful inside. Decorated with florals throughout. On the smaller side but we sat in the extended back area which we liked. The restaurant heat was blasting and it was definitely a little cooler sitting there. We did ask them to lower the heat and they did. We got the sette salad which was excellent, a margarita pizza which was pretty good and the chicken and sausage dish which was excellent. It is byob but they offer some wine which is good to know for next time. Definitely would come back! read more

This was our second time here and 10/10 again! Our first time we did the tomahawk for two and some apps and last night we did apps and pasta and pizza and everything has been great. Last night the hostesses were so sweet and professional and our server was great. The manager and owner checked in on us a few times. Cant say enough about this restaurant. The place was smaller than I thought but it was a very great atmosphere and staff! they were top notch and super friendly. Food was fresh and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We had lobster Mac and cheese, spaghetti, gnocchi, chicken Parmesan, cheese, and meat plate, pizzas. Literally almost everything since we were a party of 14. To first start off I don't like the valet parking. It's in plaza plenty of parking. I don't like how crowd the place is, I think they need to take few tables out. The staff is super nice and friendly. Even the manger came to the table to talk to us and see how everything was going. I have lot to say about the food. The pizza is amazing. I had made a reservation for a large party at 8:30pm over 2 weeks in advance to the date. Upon going to check in at around 8:20, the host told me I would be waiting "a little while". with multiple times checking in asking for updates, the host gave nothing but attitude and eye rolls and absolutely 0 information on my table. Without being said my party did not get to sit until 9:30 which I found pretty unbelievable. Aside from this, our server Cory did do a wonderful job and did his best to make up from it. Overall the food itself and our waiter was amazing, but consider finding a host who knows how to communicate and doesn't roll their eyes at guests who have been waiting an hour on a table they've had reserved for weeks. read more

Great date night! My first time and my wife's second. She said we needed to go because the food was good, so we used our date night for me to try it and I'm glad we did. From the moment we walked in it was nothing but smiles from the staff. We arrived around 5:00, it got really crowded around 6:00, so ho before if you're going on a Saturday. Our waiter John was super and his support staff was amazing. Loved that they cleaned our tale after our appetizer and gave us new silverware. It's the small things that ca separate a restaurant from a 4 to a 5. The tuna crispy was really good. I had the chicken parm because that's my test of a restaurant and it was good, not great, but good. My wife had the salmon and it was excellent. We left room for the chocolate cake and it was worth leaving room for. This is a BYOB so that's a big attraction and a money saver. They do offer wines for sale, but I recommend bringing your own. It got a little noisy as it filled up with people, but it was the kind of noisy when people are having a good time so it was fine. On our way out we were asked by multiple staff if we enjoyed ourselves and I'll repeat our comment, it was great! Definitely go, make a reservation and get there early to avoid the crowds. This was our third time in this restaurant. I have to say they are not prepared for Saturday night crowds in this area. If you go on a weekend and you have a reservation, be prepared to wait at least 45 minutes. The indoor waiting space was not planned well as you have a small waiting area with a sliding door to the dining room that if you're standing against that side you will be constantly bumped. Best to go here on a weeknight and save the weekend for a place better equipped for the mad rush. For the food, the carbonara pizza was outstanding and the crust was very flavorful. The wedge salad was difficult to eat because it was cut in half so it rolled when we tried to cut it. The flavor was good though. As for the potato crusted halibut the plate was not cohesive the potato was lackluster and very little flavor on the halibut itself maybe a little seasoning would've helped. The onion jam was delicious but was not enough of it and the pieces of apple were not fully cooked. The pear salad was over dressed and seemed rushed as there were still seeds in the pears and the walnuts had very little flavor because they weren't toasted. All in all this restaurant is good but they need to work out the kinks and plan better for Saturday rush. We have been here on a Tuesday and the food and service is outstanding. read more

We have dined several times at Sette since they opened. It has definitely become our "go to" Italian restaurant in the area. They are BYOB, although you can get a limited selection of wines from a local winery that they represent. On weekdays they have a 3 course special menu that is a great value. Last night my wife and I began our meal with the Crab Cake appetizer from the specials menu. Two nice sized crab cakes,, a perfect portion for sharing. The crab was flavorful and the breading gave it a nice crunch. It was topped with a garlic red cabbage slaw and a served over a remoulade sauce. For entrees, we stuck to the regular menu. My wife ordered the Lamb Lollipops. It consisted of 3 pairs of lamb ribs, perfectly prepared and served over risotto. I opted for the Fried Pork Chop served with roasted potatoes. It was delicious and the portion was large enough for me to take half home. For dessert we shared the Bombolone. Two deep fried donuts, one filled with custard and the other with nutella. They were outstanding. Our server, Katie R, was great. She was friendly, knowledgable, and attentive without being intrusive. We look forward to returning. read more

Sette serves personal-sized (meaning small) only pizza that's good but ridiculously priced. My margherita pizza with mushrooms, red peppers, and sausage cost a whopping $33, and a can of soda, $5. Regular-sized pizzas at an excellent local pizzeria is easily a third less in price and you get 8 slices! I don't mind paying top dollar at a restaurant, especially if the food is exceptional, but I hate feeling ripped off, as I did at Sette. I wish them well, I love to see new businesses thrive, but we won't return to this restaurant. read more

Where to begin.. had a 7:45 reservation Saturday evening. Sat at 8:15.. ordered apps and entrees. Apps came out by 9pm ... 10:15 still no entrees. Asked to speak to manager. He came over about 10 minutes later and apologized and said the kitchen put tickets ahead of our table. I said this is unacceptable, someone should be aware of what's happening in the kitchen and let us know. Gave us a bunch of lame excuses. Tables that sat after us left before us. Food finally started coming to table at 10:30 4 out of 6 entrees.. last 2 entrees at least 5 minutes later. Food was cold. Owner came over and apologized made no excuses took full responsibility saying their kitchen was at fault. He presented all 3 couples with gift cards and dessert.
