Panino has been one of my favorite sandwich places since they opened in Santa Barbara. Everything is high quality and served on your choice of bread (Focaccia, sourdough, baguette). I always get the focaccia, because it's light, soft and not too much bread. My go to here is usually #15. It has Genoa Salami, goat cheese, basil and sundried tomatoes. The honey mustard is perfect with the saltiness of the salami and the tartness of the goat cheese. I love creating this sandwich at home when I'm not able to make it here. I haven't tried the salads yet, but they always look good when served to customers. I tried the #8 Italian combo sandwich on my recent visit for sandwich week. It was a half size for $9. Luckily it doesn't take much to get me full, so half size was perfect for me. I only wish they put more salami in the sandwich. It was a little skimpy! Despite that, the sandwich was delicious. I don't come to this location often, but the ambiance here is casual, and there's a fair amount of seating. The parking lot can get hectic though. Sometimes it's easy to find parking and other times it's packed! So just be aware of that. Overall, a great place for a sandwich or salad. read more

I debated leaving this review because I come to this Panino location often and am usually very pleased but today was a huge disappointment. So much so that I'll hesistate returning. I ordered one of my usuals: Chicken Curried Salad, but this time it was full of bugs. I came across 3 bugs (& there may've been more) attached to the lettuce leafs (see attached photos). I think it goes without saying why this is a huge let down and of course, extremely gross. Please do better, Panino. read more

This place is a great stop for quality and good tasting food. The bread is so good and fresh, which really compliments all the sandwich ingredients. When I go here, my favorite thing to get is The Panino Cobb (19), with honey mustard. Just this sandwich alone is one of the highest quality and hearty sandwich I have ever had. The pungent cheese really complements the saltiness of the prosciutto. I added the honey mustard as it just brings everything together making a nice, sweet and salty sandwich. The staff are very knowledgeable and patient. When I was there, there was a very nice lady working the front. The restaurant itself is very open and filled with natural light. The tables are clean and the chairs are sturdy. This restaurant is a great place to go for a nice lunch. 4.6/5 read more

Passing through. Wanted a salad for lunch so I ordered a chicken salad to go. The chicken salad is literally chicken salad on a bed of greens. I shouldn't have been surprised but when I opened the box, that was really all there was. I did order to add avocado which was a good decision. Everything was super fresh and the chicken salad was perfectly seasoned with bits of red onion and red pepper in it. Thank goodness for that or this salad would have been a bit disappointing. I supposed I had hoped for some cucumber or tomatoes or something to bring a bit more variety but the menu didn't say these ingredients were part of it so I can't be too disappointing. It would just be my preference and suggestion should menu ideas need reviving. And the balsamic dressing that came with it is thick and tasty. A little goes a long way. Wishing the bread came with some butter. Solid lunch for the healthier fare I was hoping for so no complaints, just personal preferences. read more

Great sandwich's place - what I would call upscale. Gourmet/high quality ingredients, great creations and combinations of flavors, artisan yet approachable breads, the house-made honey mustard is wonderful. Good size sandwich, barely ate all of it - soo full! Very small for dining in, love the butcher block tables tho. The staff stayed on top of wiping and clearing tables even when busy. It is a bit pricey for sandwiches, but given above items not unreasonable.... also, you're in Montecito :) The only issue was my roast beef was a touch dry, not overly but noticeable yet not enough to downgrade a star. Still quality meat, but probably sliced the day before. It seems they do a much more robust serving of chicken and turkey, which looked amazing. In my quest for the perfect veggie sandwich I recently stopped by Panino's. I'm not vegetarian but I love a good veggie sammich. They have a pretty good selection of vegetarian offerings, so I went with the Mixed Veggie Sandwich- Marinated sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, greens, and a few other tasty toppings. It wasn't the absolute best veggie sandwich I've had, but it was pretty good. All fresh, quality ingredients. The staff was friendly, and my food was ready in minutes. I love, Love, LOVE me some Panino!!! Yeah, "it's just a sandwich" some people say! "You can get a sandwich anywhere" others will exclaim!! But my question to you is... would you drive an hour for a foot long at Subway or a large sub at Quiznos? What about the Giant sub at Jersey Mikes??? I didn't think so. Well this Saturday, I specifically got In my car and drove to beautiful Montecito to get my sandwich and then drove over to the beach by Santa Barbara City College and went to town on my #11. =) So what makes Panino so special you ask? It's the fact that they are a small mom and pop sandwich spot with 6 locations all within Santa Barbara County. This allows for the ingredients to stay fresh and to have consistency across the board. I first fell in love with Panino in Los Olivos, but discovered this location was even closer to my home and have made this hour drive on a few different occasions since then to reminisce this beautiful sandwich spot all made with that Santa Barbara County Love. What a disappointing meal! I was shocked by the low level of quality of my $15 caprese salad. The strips of supermarket-grade mozzarella (at best) were laying on top of shredded romaine lettuce (à la Subway), with the most anemic tomatoes I've ever seen. It is August in Montecito, the height of tomato season, and this is what Panino is serving their customers? The meal was rounded out with a few stale slices of low-quality sourdough bread and a small container with salad dressing that had congealed into something more like mustard. What really is surprising about this very poor quality salad, is that Panino is located in a shopping center in what is probably the most upscale, high-income location in the entire U.S., if not the world. Other shops in this center include very expensive, status-label stores. I cannot believe the clientele of this restaurant (Oprah, Meghan and Harry?) would tolerate this food, that, honestly was worse than what you'd get in a bad airport terminal. At the very least, get some decent tomatoes in the summer when you have access to the best quality ingredients. read more

I have yet to go to Panino in person, but I've had take-out sandwiches for a couple of at-home lunches during visits with family in Montecito. As far as I can tell as the person at home waiting with baby for sandwiches to appear, the ordering and pick-up process seems smooth enough. I've had the #15 and the #18 and liked both enough to get them again. The #15 comes with Genoa salami, goat cheese, marinated sun-dried tomatoes, fresh basil, greens, mayo, and honey mustard. A very nice salami sandwich with a pleasant mix of flavors. The #18 is the curried chicken salad sandwich, with tender chunks of roast chicken, dried cranberries, pine nuts, sliced apple, honey mustard, and greens. I almost always like curried chicken salad and Panino's was great, satisfyingly sweet and savory. (I was happy to discover that my one-year-old liked it, too, as I've had a hard time getting him to embrace meat.) I think I had both sandwiches on the ciabatta, which I would recommend. I'll probably make it inside Panino one day, but for now, I'm glad to have it as an easy take-out option when we're in Montecito. Our toddler has never been to a restaurant, so pandemic or no pandemic, I'm sure there will be times when we'd rather eat at home. read more

This place was fantastic! The sandwiches and tomato soup, excellent. We found Panino on our way up to Los Olivos off the 101 in Montecito and so happy we did. So hungry and not really wanting to go to a restaurant or fast food, we opted for sandwiches. The staff was friendly and patient as we asked questions and took our time to order. The place is clean and so are the restrooms. The parking was tough,but we eventually found a spot. I would definitely recommend stopping here for lunch, or taking some sandwiches to the beach. Convenient location with three outdoor tables. Prices are reasonable for the area, so no sticker shock. $14 bucks for a big deli-like sandwich. You can choose your bread: sourdough, whole wheat, or baguette. I don't think they close in the afternoon so if you come at an odd hour, you'll be able to grab a bite, like we did, at 3:30pm. The food was delicious and very quick. One star for the service because it was horrible. The woman who took our orders had to be one of the rudest people any of us have ever met. She was impatient and rude while speaking to us. When I did not hear something she mumbled about for here or to go she yelled it in my face. She told another one of us who asked what kind of breads they have to look to the menu really rudely. Dismissed all of us and acted like we were really bothering her. When the first one of us to order forgot the number at the counter when I came up to order she also rudely told me ugh she forgot her number. I cannot emphasize enough her tone and demeanor was so rude and off putting we were ready to leave the minute we got there. We were the only people there at this point so her yelling at each and every one of us was very disrespectful. Panino is my new addiction. I stop in here about once a week for lunch and the staff are always very friendly. One of the main issues with this location is the parking, the lot is always full since it shares parking space with Vons. I wish they had curbside pickup or a few ten minute pick up spaces for their customers. The food is always on point though and it's a good crowd pleaser. My sandwiches are always stacked with meat and very fresh. My favorites are the number 9 and chicken curry salad. It is a bit pricey about $20 for a half of a sandwich and half of a salad but in my opinion worth it! read more

The meat was plentiful and delicious, the veggies were fresh and the options are vast for a sandwich shop. The gluten free bread was Udi's and definitely needs improvement. There are many gluten free bakeries nowadays that Udi's shouldn't even be a consideration unless it's to make croutons; it's dry, falls apart and lacking taste.
