Fast service, clean and inviting dining room, and delicious sandwiches - what more can you ask for?! I got the half sandwich/half soup combo, and it was perfect after a hike to the Hot Springs in Montecito. The lemon chicken and farro soup was absolutely delicious, so much so that I'm looking for a dupe recipe and recommending it to friends; and my partner and I really enjoyed the salsa included with the Turkey Avo Salsa Verde sandwich. We even tried the salsa on Prosciutto Chicken sandwich and it really cut through the sweetness of that sandwich (we loved the crunch from the candied almonds tho - it needs a more meat/salt to balance the sweetness). The DRINKS were exquisite - the pomegranate mint lemonade was our absolute favorite, so much so that we got seconds. Guava lemonade and the passion fruit tea plus lemonade makes a nice Arnold Palmer, but the pomegranate mint lemonade takes the cake. Will be recommending catering from here to my boss and PTO president for our next staff lunch. read more

So not sure what is going on here. I was hopeful the first couple of times we were here. Food was good, service was good. In here today and there are no menus? What happened to the menus, did someone take them or ? They were also out of drink cups for water. When I mentioned they were not any by the water, I was told they were out of cups. What? The atmosphere was organized, clean, bright, and option of indoor or covered patio seating. The service was fast... You order up front and they bring it to your table. The staff are all very pleasant and accommodating, especially Mason at the front (he looks like a young Msrk Ruffalo-- tell him Ruth sent you). The menu is fantastic and creative, especially for sandwiches, soups, and salads. The ingredients taste like they're fresh from the farm and they are very generous with the portions. I had the 1/2 sandwich and soup. The Farm Club Avocado, Turkey, Bacon, Mixed Greens, Herb Aioli, Pickled Red Onion, Tomato, On Original Mom's Seeded Honey Whole Wheat, and Lemon Chicken & Farro Soup a hearty chicken soup with whole-grain farro, carrot, celery, onion, baby spinach, lemon. It is my new favorite and may pick up some more to take home this weekend. The sandwich had to wait until today because the soup was so filling. I was afraid the bread would dry out and be soggy inside, but it was perfect and tastedfreshly made. I loved every bite and it had a tiny bit of crunch to and was full of flavor with just the right combination of ingredients. It was a very generously stuffed sandwich as you'll see in the pictures, and it took both hands to hold it! My friend did a Buikd-Your-Own sandwich as she has specific dietary restrictions. Mason was very patient and accmodating taking her order. He repeated it back perfectly. Someone in the kitchen messed up some of her ingredients so she took it back and they brought her out a new one and the manager came and gave her a gift card for a free meal. He was very apologetic and kind. Don't let that deter you. This will become a new gathering place for many people with their healthy ingredients and variety of combinations and customizable food. I visited twice this week, and my experiences were very different. My first visit was excellent. I ordered the Thai Chicken Wrap and Lemon Chicken Farro Soup online before arriving. To my surprise, my order was ready about 10 minutes earlier than expected. An attentive employee greeted me, handed me my bag right away, and everything was packaged neatly. The food was fresh and delicious. I especially loved the Thai Chicken Wrap. The cilantro flavor really stood out, and the ingredients tasted crisp and fresh. The only drawback was the dining area. I tried sitting both outside and inside, but the acoustics made it surprisingly noisy in both spaces. Because I enjoyed the wrap so much, I ordered it again a few days later. This time I also ordered online, arriving about 10-15 minutes before the scheduled pickup time. The restaurant was extremely busy, so I waited at the pickup area. When my promised pickup time came and went, my order still hadn't appeared. After asking an employee, she looked around and discovered my sandwich had been sitting behind the counter and had never been bagged for pickup. She apologized and kindly gave me a complimentary drink, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the sandwich itself wasn't nearly as good as my first one. It seemed like it had been sitting for quite a while. The lettuce and spinach had wilted from the dressing, there were noticeably fewer carrots, and it had a spicy kick that my first wrap didn't have. The first one had a fresh, bright cilantro flavor, while this one just wasn't as enjoyable. Since these wraps aren't inexpensive, consistency is important. I'm hoping my second experience was simply the result of a very busy day and a new restaurant working through the rush. I'd definitely order the Thai Chicken Wrap again because my first one was excellent, but next time I'll probably order in person rather than online, since my pickup order was overlooked while walk-in orders seemed to be moving more quickly. read more

We got Mendocino catering for our work lunch. I got the club sandwich. It had turkey, bacon, red onion, avocado, tomato and lettuce on some deliciously fresh baked bread. The bread was awesome. What a beautiful spot! So thankful there is another healthy and delicious place for takeout when doing lunch with my coworkers within a reasonable distance from my work. Food was excellent all around. My salad was perfect seriously well balanced with protein and fiber. My coworkers all got different sandwiches and they were all satisfied with the uniqueness of the sandwiches. I also loved the passion fruit tea because it was unsweetened so that was a win. The cashier was friendly and helpful in answering my questions. Price was on point for the salad. I'll be a frequent flyer for sure. My new favorite place. Who knew that the combo of healthy, affordable, and tasty would be such a great combo? I also like the layout and mellow ambiance. Customer service is on-point. I don't see coffee on the menu (kind of refreshing tbh), but the juice and iced tea is great. I've had two lunches here; Chicken pesto sandwich with cous cous and a vegan bahn mi with lemon chicken soup. Both were satisfying and tasty. Both gave my body the sense of "clean eats". Neither decimated my wallet and my conscience the way many SB establishments do. I am so grateful for this spot. Please don't change or sell out or take any cheap shortcuts. For a new sandwich shop in town I loved it! Everything was spot on pretty good. The sandwich was the "Top Seller" the cashier said. I was definitely intrigued to try this place for the first time. It was quick to put my order in, however some reason I signed up early to get a "free" sandwich for their grand opening but that email never went through or I signed up to late after the deadline. (Please let me know if you had that issue too) also overall great ambiance the place was clean and very brand new. Stop by for a good quick sandwich, salad or soup to your must tries. Spent the 4th of July in Santa Barbara and was craving the Not So Fried Chicken sandwich, so Mendocino Farms was an easy choice. It's quickly become my favorite thing on the menu. I usually go to the Pasadena location on Lake, and I needed a quick meal before heading out. Shoutout to Alyce for being so friendly and welcoming. Great customer service always makes a difference. I also LOOOVED the design of this location. It's much bigger than the Pasadena store, and I especially loved the blue tile throughout the space.. it gives the restaurant such a fresh, coastal feel. My first experience with Mendocino Farms was back in 2006. At the time, I worked in downtown Los Angeles at One California Plaza and frequently visited the Mendocino Farms at California Plaza. I got to know the owner, Mario, and always admired how hard he worked and how focused he was on the quality of his product. His sandwiches were out of this world. I especially looked forward to Thanksgiving, when they would bring back the turkey sandwich with stuffing and cranberry sauce. It was something I genuinely looked forward to every year. So, when I heard that Mendocino Farms was coming to Santa Barbara, I was incredibly excited. I couldn't wait to reconnect with the sandwiches and salads I had enjoyed nearly 20 years ago. Unfortunately, my first visit to the Santa Barbara location this evening was a real disappointment. I didn't walk into the restaurant looking for things to criticize. What immediately struck me, however, was the lack of focus and attention to the customer experience. The restaurant itself also lacked the level of tidiness and organization I remember from my experiences with Mendocino Farms in Los Angeles. The biggest issue was the staff. The employees seemed far more interested in socializing with one another than paying attention to customers or the orders coming through. My wife and I waited 20 minutes for two sandwiches. Seriously--20 minutes for two sandwiches. That kind of experience makes me wonder whether the issue is a lack of strong, local leadership. The employees may be young, but that shouldn't mean the customer experience takes a back seat. Good leadership and training should set the expectation that customers come first. That said, I want to give credit where it's due: the food itself was actually very good. I ordered the Peruvian Steak sandwich and the Happy Hippie. My wife said the Happy Hippie was outstanding, and I really enjoyed the Peruvian Steak as well. I would definitely order it again. That's what makes the experience so frustrating. I still believe in the product, and the food reminded me of why I loved Mendocino Farms in the first place. I just hope the Santa Barbara location can bring the service, attention to detail, and customer focus up to the same standard as the food. I really want this location to succeed. After nearly 20 years of being a fan, I hope this was simply a rough opening and not a reflection of what the Santa Barbara Mendocino Farms will become. read more

Terrible experiences here, the only reason I've given multiple opportunities is because the food seems fresh and healthy. Twice before I've asked for no dressing on a salad wrap and its come drenched with it. I've ordered online to skip the wait, yet waited 30 minutes longer than my estimated wait time. Today I decided to arrive early so I could order right when they open to avoid the frustration of online ordering (their app is terrible in many different ways). Ordered at 10:32 (they open at 10:30). Waited 20-25 minutes for it to come out while I watched them make plenty of online orders (ironic). I assumed it took long bc they had to cook the chicken but its pre cooked and cold in the salad lmao. Get home and the salad is just lettuce, avocado, onions and chicken. I asked for no cheese so they omitted the beans, corn, jicama, tomatoes and arugula as well. Brilliant love it. The lettuce looks and tastes terrible. Also got a root end of a lettuce head that looked days old. Called to speak to a manager but they were too busy so I had to ask the poor FOH staff for a refund. Greta was very helpful and kind--hopefully these managers (in store and corporate) can get a handle on this. Usually I dont mind a small mistake but its become a trend at this point. Couldnt even eat the free salad besides the cold chicken and avocado bc it looked so unappetizing. Looks like I need to spend my money at local businesses! Blue Owl, Thai Bistro, Mission City Sandwich Spot etc have never had issues like these. I hate wasting my time writing reviews especially negative ones but the word needs to get out abt this place. read more

We've been in a few times and have been happy with out orders, till today. They were out of goat cheese, so couldn't get our favorite salad. I offered to take it without the cheese and would put my own on it, but they said that would not be possible. So we tried the Goddess salad. Got it home and there was no container of dressing. It needed it. Ordered the Not so Fried Chicken sandwich and the veggie one. Both were sloppily made and the bread was torn. No side sauces either. Disappointed in the lack of attention and mess of sandwiches falling apart. They were busy, but that is really not my problem and they should be prepared. I still paid full price. I really love the happy hippie sandwich, the bread and the beet caviar make it sing. love that there are so many vegan and vegetarian choices, even though I do eat meat, so I tasted the chimichurri bacon sandwich, also great. I was looking forward to trying this one. I loved that they have their "purpose" framed on the wall right as the line to order is forming. The food was "ok", however what struck me most was their lack of "friendly service". They had plenty of people working, however their beverage dispensers were out and when a customer mentioned this, they handed her a bottled beverage and didn't address the beverage dispensers for the rest of the customers. The manager was walking around yet not really doing anything or addressing obvious issues.
