Came here after driving up from LA and we were starving. It hit the spot. I got the tuna- SO GOOD. It's real tuna. None of that mayo crap. And the artichokes. YUM! Love this place! On my highly regarded sandwich rankings for SB, the #8 (Italian) on focaccia is #2 in town. They also have a wide range of delicious sandwiches, friendly service, and a decent sized front patio area for eating on site, even in the Covid era. They have other locations in Goleta and Solvang and they are all delicious. I have never had a bad meal at any of them. It's going to cost you a bit more than most sandwich shops, but they are so well put together that it's worth it. read more

Now this is a Sandwich Place. Located in Downtown Santa Barbara this small location is one to visit. The overall atmosphere is inviting and the selection is to die for. They had a long line when we got their but they busted that sucker out. Quick status you know! I had a Tuna Artichoke sandwich on a Focaccia bread with the most delicious tapenade i have ever had. There hasn't been one time i have been to Santa Barbara that I haven't stopped here. Panino uses the best honey mustard but they also must have some sort of magic spell because my bread is NEVER soggy.. i don't understand it but I definitely appreciate it. The chicken salad isn't doused in mayo but it is just enough where you can taste it and not lose the flavor of everything else. I also love salami and get it wherever I can, the salami here is so fresh and of such high quality i could eat an entire log. Also there is a cute little outside area to sit and enjoy the SB weather. I think my expectations for good, satisfying food, just can't be met as well in Santa Barbara as in LA. I live back and forth between the two places, and I'll soon be living in LA... which I definitely will not mind, when it comes to food and restaurants. With a 4-5 star average rating on Yelp, I had high expectations for Panino. I love sandwiches and salads, and the variety of options nicely described on their website sounded delicious! I visited Panino during my anti-carb period, so I chose the chicken curry salad (with some slight reservations about the mayo in the chicken curry, but the reviews were so great on Yelp for the chicken curry sandwich and salad). There's not much to say about the meal... It was just okay... and slightly overpriced. I think this is where my LA frame of reference comes in. I do like the outdoor seating. On a sunny day, it's a peaceful, lovely place to eat. My boyfriend liked his sandwich, but it still doesn't compare to a cheap Bahn Mi sandwich or crazy hearty Jewish deli sandwich that we can get in LA, which are both more unique options as well. Oh well, I guess on a Santa Barbara sliding scale, this place deserves a 4. But I'm saving my money for LA restaurants. read more

5 stars for the Curried Chicken Salad Sandwich on the Foccacia bread! I was seriously a little hesitant because I thought the curry would just be overpowering in flavor. Wrong! The dried cranberries and apples really complimented it. If you're just looking for a light meal, split the sandwich with someone else. Then the $8.50 price won't seem as bad. Oh, number 29: I could never stray from you. I've gone to Panino again and again and again and again, and never get anything other than the avocado and provolone on ciabatta bread. These delectable ingredients are joined with tomatoes, cucumber, basil, onion, bell pepper, mixed greens, mayonnaise, and that mouthwatering honey mustard, which tastes (and looks) more like honey AND mustard, rather than your typically bottled honey mustard. The basil adds this whole new layer of perfection to the creamy goodness of the avocado. The whole sammich is absolute perfection. It ain't cheap (less than $10 for a tiny, but fairly filling sammich), but it's absolutely worth it. read more

This is the "go to" place for sandwiches in Santa Barbara. The "go to and must order" sandwich is the Curried chicken salad. My gf ordered that sandwich with wheat bread (you choose among 4 types of bread). I had the Prosciutto w/ Mozzarella on a ciabatta. My sandwich also consists of roasted red peppers, lettuce, basil, balsamic vinaigrette and olive oil. It's pretty much the same as any other prosciutto and mozzarella sammich. I do like the inclusion of roasted red peppers, gave it a good depth of flavor to the sandwich. Other establishments have a tendency to pair it with tomatoes. So the peppers was a nice touch. Ciabatta was fresh. Now for the Curry chicken, their most popular sandwich, consists of chunks of roasted chicken mixed with dried cranberries, pine nuts, sliced apple, honey mustard and organic greens. My gf chose wheat. Too bad, the ciabatta would've been a better choice. Never-the-less, this sandwich is really really good. You definitely can taste the curry, but it's not overpowering. It's sweet and slightly tangy all at the same time. The only drawback is that the sandwiches are slightly on the smaller side. Then again, I shouldn't be stuffing my face. It's just okay. Pretty much the usual assortment of nicer sandwiches and about half a dozen different salads. Pretty boring menu. I ordered the cobb salad (sans prosciutto and avocado). Didn't care for the stilton or dressing, so thank goodness I asked for both on the side. The rest of it was something I could easily slop together at home--green leafy lettuce, a few tomato slices, some red onion, a couple of pieces of chicken and a little shredded basil. It was really nothing special and a bit difficult to eat using the plastic utensils they give you. I wish I had just gone to the Whole Foods salad bar. My salad plus a 1.5 liter bottle of water was $15.00, which just seems absurd to me. At least the location is nice. Panino is a block or so off of State Street and you can sit outside and relax without the bustle. Street parking is also pretty easy to find. Even if the bread was fresh she had a smaller portion than my sandwich, so I'm saying based on my experience and other reviews, order the focaccia bread if you go here. I would have gave Panino's four stars based on my sandwich but the parking issue, high price, my friend's sandwich, the rust on her plate and them only selling soda in a can moved them down to a three. read more

Noticed this cute little sandwich/coffee shop while staying at the Spanish Garden Inn- as it is walking distance. They seem to draw quite a lunch crowd and rightly so. This charming shop has a number of delicious fresh sandwiches. I had a difficult time narrowing it down and finally settled on Prosciutto w/Fresh Mozzarella and Roasted Red Peppers (It contained Imported Italian Prosciutto, Fresh Mozzarella, Roasted Red Peppers, Fresh Basil & Greens with Olive Oil and Balsamic Vineger). A gem in Santa Barbara for a fresh and healthy salad and/or sandwich. Everything is written on a black board. The choices are great and the decor is adorable. It was a bit warm to sit inside, plus it was a gorgeous SoCal day, so we sat outside. Lovely spot. A couple blocks off State Streets, so it is mostly locals and not too many cars drive by. The portions are perfect. It is about $8-10 for a salad or sandwich, but the ingredients are fresh and full of flavor. Will definitely visit again to try more of the sandwiches! read more
