But it's tasty!! They have some exotic selections here that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. My personal favorite is the chicken curry sandwich. Well, Panino's salads is definitely NOT on the diet plan list, because it's so large that it can feed 2 people ... I can't believe I ate it all ... after 3 hours. It was my first trip to Santa Barbara and my friend took me on a tour of downtown on a sunny day. We grabbed lunch at Panino and while the grilled sandwiches smelled wonderful, I opted for a light salad instead. I ordered an English Stilton with chicken. The pear in the salad was very refreshing and the dressing they tossed it in was also delicious. I began my food adventure in search of *other* restaurants on this fine Saturday. My first pick was Arigato, which unfortunately was closed during the afternoon hours. So I decided to peruse other restaurants on my downtown-to-try list, and ended up going to Jill's Place. Once I parked and walked into the restaurant at 2:30, I was informed that they had just closed. BOO-HOO! The yelp app on my droid told me that they were open all afternoon. Liars. So then I decided to check out either Our Daily Bread or Panino for sandwiches. First I walked into Panino, looked at the big menu, then went across the street to see what ODB had. Their menu was itty bitty and not nearly as customized and fresh sound as what Panino had. SO- back to Panino! And now, what to decide on..hm..Luckily, I had a very sweet employee (don't remember her name but she is vegetarian and had lovely dark eyelashes and eyebrows). She helped me decide on the #9, which is essentially the #1 Turkey sandwich but with brie added in. It was YUMTASTIC! I also added a bag of chips and a Coke to my order, and took it to go. The food was super yummy, the brie really added something special to my sandwich. The bread is freshly made by D'Angelo (which might make for awkwardly neighbor relationships as ODB is *right across the street!*) This location is better than the Goleta one, which I visited the next day. I stopped here for lunch on my way up north and enjoyed it so much I stopped on my way back down south! Great little place just a couple of blocks from the hustle and bustle of State Street. Service was quick, friendly and competent, and the sandwich spot had a great vibe. The first time I got the Chicken Curry sandwich and loved the combination of chicken, curry, apples, cranberries on focaccia. Also delicious, was the mozzarella, roasted pepper, basil with balsamic on focaccia I got the second time. The ingredients were fresh and high in quality and the bread fantastic. Delicious and healthy! Nice casual outdoor seating. I love the food here. I wanted to order everything. They have a large selection of artisan salads and sandwiches. I got the Curried Chicken salad, we also ordered Insalada Caprese, Chicken Noodle Soup, and Panino Cobb. Everything is excellent. The salads come with lots of high quality meat and interesting cheeses, and fresh baked bread. You could literally make a separate sandwich from the bread that comes with the salad. The dressing is a creamy balsamic. They also serve you on these funky colorful plates. Service is also great. Hot damn! These sandwiches are so good. My wife had the Turkey and Brie on Ciabatta and I had the Salami, Kalamata Olive and Goat Cheese on Ciabatta. On a whim, we went with the 1/2 sandwich and soup option because we thought the sandwiches looked pretty big. We were not disappointed! The sandwiches were so flavorful, fresh and just divine; the serving size for the half sandwich was a perfect portion for me, especially when complemented by the cup of soup on the side. I love olive tapenade and it really accented the flavor of the salami. And my wife raved about the Turkey and Brie, I had a bite and it was mmmmm mmmmm GOOD. Quick, efficient service too. It's a small sandwich shopped nestled in the historic part of SB... right across the street from El Presidio. It's almost impossible to find parking because the lots around Panino are permit-only, and the streets are mostly small one-way streets. But once you do, and walk into Panino's and see their menu written on a huge chalkboard all the frustrations kind of melt away. You can either sit in the patio, which is perfect for a sunny day in SB, or sit inside at the large wooden tables. Everything here is really homey and welcoming. All in all the sandwiches were amazing. Fresh ingredients. Simple tastes. Rich flavor. Mmm.. I was a particular fan of the Harvest salad. greens mixed with pine nuts, dried cranberries and dried apricots tossed in a vinagrette. i was definitely a happy girl eating it. the ONLY downside is that they got one of our orders wrong.boo. Short and sweet: They make great sandwiches. The type that aren't your normal sandwiches. Each are custom designed with special ingredients and everything tastes great. By far, my favorite is the Cobb Salad Sandwich with the stilton cheese on Focaccia bread. Other popular sandwiches are the chicken and pesto and chicken and goat cheese I think. The salads are good as well. There are many locations now, I think 6. The only downside is they are pricey. The Cobb Sandwich I love is their most expensive at about 10 bucks so you're no matter what paying a few more dollars than other places but they are worth it sometimes as it's not your typical mustard and mayo and meat sammies. Each one is thought out like a recipe. Certainly worth a try if you haven't been. There's one in Montecito by Vons, one downtown, a few in Santa Ynez and Solvang/Buellton and one more place in SB I think. read more

She neglected to tell me water was self serve, so I asked again when it was brought out. Great salads and sandwiches, especially for lunch. The sandwiches can definitely feed a large appetite as well as the salads. My go-to salad is the Caprese Salad. The basil in the salad sets it off, and the vinaigrette dressing is creamy and unlike any other dressing I've had. The Chicken Curry salad is a little heavy but unique and tasty. Sometimes the curry is overwhelming. I always call ahead and pick my lunch up to avoid wait times and long lines, as it is especially busy at lunch. It is always ready in 10mins or less.
