I was so nervous up to the day of our wedding, but Judy and her staff reassured us all along the way that everything would be wonderful and encouraged us to relax and enjoy our time leading up to the big day. It became clear from the day of rehearsal that we truly had nothing to worry about. Judy took charge and made sure everything was as promised, and as it was supposed to be. Our package with Paniolo covered everything except the musicians, DJ, and photographer - and it couldn't have been more beautiful. The bouquets were perfect, the table settings and flowers were whimsical but refined, and no one left hungry. So many guests told us they had an amazing time. We rented out the entire place for my wedding my overnight guest loved it! My day was like a fairytale and exceeded my expectations. Ok, folks where do I start. We decided to have our wedding at the end of October and picked this location as an ideal location to have our wedding. We met the owner and she gave us the tour and was very nice. We talked to her about what we wanted and gave her our budget which she said was doable. We also hired her as our wedding coordinator which was our first mistake; she did nothing to coordinate the wedding even though we paid for her services. She almost never answered the phone and when she did she said she would call us back almost never did. She kept getting our records confused with someone else. My wife had to handle all the coordinating then at our actual wedding she catches the bouquet! Later her daughter apologized, she may have been drunk. Also, we were told their center piece fountain would be lit up for all to see, only to find on our wedding day it was broken. In the last minute she contacted us telling us the bartender had quit so she used the wedding coordinator she hired to help with our wedding to do and then made us pay for her as a bartender. In the end we had a good wedding but would recommend not using their services as wedding coordinator unless you want to waste your money. read more

Ok, first the good: Great views, and I mean great. This place is a truly beautiful piece of property, which we were told is 100+ acres. There is a large pond/small lake in the draw below the compound, and they have a dock and canoes for guest use (I did not use them, so I cannot speak to the quality). If you are looking for an out of the way place, it's definitely out of the way. The actual wedding was of a very sweet girl and a very good guy, and they were very chill and I had a lot of fun at their wedding in spite of the owner. Now to the bad: I wasn't part of the venue negotiations, so I won't cover the stories I heard about extra fees, etc, or cost. All I can say is that whatever the bride paid, it was too much. This will all be personal experience. - When we arrived as part of the wedding party, we were shown to our room. We were sharing the room with some other couples, which was fine and not the owner's fault. The room was obviously a converted garage/ballet studio. No one had bothered to carpet the garage or remove the indoor/outdoor door between the adjoining rooms, giving it a very 'thrown-together' look. The young lady who showed us to our room advised us that we had a fridge. I never found a refrigerator, but there was a wine cooler full of gas station honey buns and some hard boiled eggs which smelled like they had been there for a few days. The wine cooler masquerading as a fridge would chill to 44 degrees, which is not cold enough to abide by USDA guidelines for refrigeration. We were told this was breakfast. Laugh-out-loud. - I searched for ice, but none was available. So I went to the main house and knocked on the door to inquire about some. Judy answered the door and responded to my query with what I am sure was her best "eat shit" look. Her daughter did come to the door after an awkward moment and offer me some ice in a bucket, which was nice. - The A/C (a window unit) broke at the beginning of the weekend (Friday afternoon). The maintenance guy said it was a freon leak. No attempt to fix it was made by the time we left (Sunday morning). It was sweltering. I have seen other reviews mention broken A/C units. They probably break down a lot because they are 25+ year old window units. - The rehearsal dinner was very obviously a prepackaged, previously frozen meal. Some Costco alfredo with canned peas tossed in to make it look handmade. I make alfredo from scratch, this was not close. The proprietors served us in their pajamas, which rather ruined any elegance they may have been trying for. One of the guests had two young children, who (as children often do) asked for a pizza. Judy advised that they could have a pizza delivered, for $50. Judy also informed us that if we wished to use the pool, it was an additional $5 a person. There were no signs to this regard; the pool was obviously there as a guest amenity, and this is the first time I have ever heard of a 'pool charge' anywhere. I would suggest to anyone staying here to request a written list of what is included in your agreement/contract. If you don't see it there, it is likely to be an additional charge on the spot. - The day of the wedding, the bride informed us she had paid for 'wedding coordination'. Being a guy, I am not sure what the specifics of that are, but I assume it does not mean 'spend the days showing the property to prospective couples and do nothing for the wedding', which is a fairly accurate description of what I saw. The groomsmen, bridesmaids, and groom set-up the decorations and seemed to be doing all the work. The bridal suite was at 79 degrees during the whole wedding day, and the thermostat is locked. While I'm sure the response will be "but you did not ask for the thermostat to be turned down," it is the sign of a poor host when the accommodations are locked to a sweltering temperature unless you hunt down the owner for every room you would like to be habitable (while she is off showing the property to other potential customers). There was more, but to be honest I'd simply advise anyone to steer clear of this business until efforts are made to greatly (and I do mean greatly) improve the customer service and basic amenities (A/C, ice, a real fridge). Side note: One picture on here has the caption "Wedding chapel". This is not a chapel. It is a store room and bathrooms designed to resemble a chapel, there is no way to fit people into it. read more

My wife to be and I met with Judy a few weeks prior to the event, reviewed the contract, went over the the table arrangements and linen colors. The day of the event out party was running a bit late but the staff was VERY accommodating and moved all of our beverages inside as the weather cooled down. The views are spectacular!!! I love hill country!!! This B&B is gorgeous. It sits right on a lake, overlooking the hills. They have gardens all through the property, and awesome wildlife to admire (my husband and I saw deer EVERYWHERE). The downside of all of this, you ask? My husband and I booked the Pineapple house after reading all of the lovely reviews; private hot-tub, cozy bed, beautiful views...etc. After arriving, we decided to relax in the hot-tub, only to have it shut off 15 minutes later. No big deal, so we went to bed and decided we would tell the owner about it in the morning. After the owner charged my card, we told her about the hot-tub issue. She apologized and said she would get her hot-tub tech to go look at it. Long story short, the hot-tub was out of commission, and we were told to use the public hot tub. I did not want to use a public hot tub, if I had just paid for a private one, just like anyone else in the right mind would think... so we brought this up to the owner. The manager assured us everything would be taken care of. She helped us move to a different, slightly larger property down the road, with its own private hot tub. My husband and I were satisfied by the customer service. Low, and behold, I get home to see that the owner charged me to switch houses!!! As if it was my fault. Needless to say, I am in dispute with my credit card company. Beware, and make sure you get a RECEIPT! P.S - There were Cigarette buds and leaves in the pool, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned it a while (green mold on the side of the pool near the drop off). Paniolo is one of my favorite places in Texas! There is nothing better than an escape to the Hill Country and Paniolo, with its amazing views, accommodations, food and relaxation! The staff is so friendly too! It's location is top notch, being near Boerne and Fredericksburg for shopping and site seeing. It's also close to golf, the river for tubing, and Luckenbach for kicking back with music and fun! I can't wait to get back again this summer. I got married at the Paniolo Ranch. The experience was exceptional. The ranch has the best views in the Hill Country, and it was so amazing to have my family be able to stay on the property. We had so much fun spending 3 nights there. The outdoor venue was so pretty when I saw it in the daytime, but when the sun went down and the moon came up, the fire features were lit and the place came to life. The indoor venue was so cool because it was a nice night, and we opened all the large doors. It was incredible. Also, all the tables were lit so nicely! My flowers were highlighted perfectly. The staff was helpful and even helped me find a caterer. If you are looking for a Hill Country Venue, this is the one. First class with a reasonable price!! Thanks so much! read more

Wow! This place was awesome! I am so thankful that we found it for my brother's 60th birthday! We had use of the whole outdoor rock garden area, with both water and fire features that truly made it magical! The owner, Judy, was extremely helpful to us, warm and friendly. She worked with us on getting a caterer that would fit our needs, and drawing up a floor plan as to where we wanted tables and such. We had a wonderful dinner, and "Casino Night" going on at the other end of the garden. Fun for all! Everyone there on staff that night was MORE than eager to help us with whatever we needed.....that was such a blessing! We definitely made the right choice! The gorgeous countryside and sunset, along with the lights and fire, made my brother's party an event that he won't soon forget! read more

My wife and I spent a lovely weekend there for a friend's wedding. Very tasteful and relaxing. My friend had an easy time with all of the wedding details. The staff took care of all of that. There were a few last minute hitches, but it all worked out well. Everyone seemed to have a great time. The real show started when the stars came out! We were fortunate to stay at the facility. Fredericksburg isn't what it's claimed to be, but you would do fine staying on the ranch all weekend or going to some of the other small towns around it. read more

Paniolo Ranch Wedding and Spa Retreat with a fabulous view is a must add to your list of places. From the moment I visited the site to start planning my daughter's wedding event; I knew she would love it from the beautiful landscaped gardens to layout of the facility and she did! The venue was booked for wedding on May 23, 2015. Judy and her staff are awesome. We of course planned for an outdoor evening wedding with a backup for inside in case of rain, of which both were beautiful. Unfortunately, the 30 year flood came that evening and delayed the wedding an extra day...luckily everyone was able to accommodate us the next day and it all came together. Judy, Hunter, and the rest of the staff ensured our daughter's wedding day was a "bride and groom dream day". I can't tell you how many of our guests commented on how lovely the venue was. Despite the delay it was an absolutely beautiful wedding. I'm sure their first year anniversary will be spent there to really enjoy the many personal touches Paniolo Ranch has to offer.
