This is one busy place but the staff knows their stuff, get in line and you'll be seated faster than you think. It's laid back island time but worth it. The breakfast menu is huge and you'll want to try all of it. The portions are huge too, cafe con leche is primo or cafe Americano is also excellent. Overall Pannes wasn't that bad! I will say it is mostly tourists that were dining here, so if you're looking for an authentic Puerto Rican experience there are better places. However, their Puerto Rican options are decent! I got the beefsteak "encebollado" which was pretty good and the portion size was perfect. My friend just got rice and beans and tostones which she said was decent as well. Their dipping sauce for the tostones was not as good as other places...there was something slightly off about the proportion of ketchup and mayo and it might have had a slight garlicky flavor? I couldn't figure it out. If you have a mix of somewhat adventurous eaters and those who are more picky and want to stick to more traditional American cuisine, this place would satisfy both parties. This was a dessert stop only. We were on a mission after dinner and were walking up the Condado strip when we noticed Pannes on Ashford Avenue. They had a display case that caught our attention and after being warmly greeted we decided to sit down for a few desserts. I went with the Pistachio Cake and my partner chose the Chocolate Lava Cake. Both were so good and hit the spot. The restaurant and restrooms were super clean. The staff and our server were very inviting and the restaurant has a fun vibe to it. We asked to sit in a booth but the waiter says booths are for big parties only.... Except there was a woman eating by herself in one of the booths and the place was DEAD lol. Literally the worst food I've had in awhile. I ordered the French Mess and this was a big mistake. They used Kraft singles as their cheese!!! Walkable from La Concha, this is a great place for breakfast which opens at 7 AM. My partner got the Power omelette without the meat. He removed the entire layer of cheese too, so overall not so powerful an omelette but he did rave about the freshness :) . I got the cajun fries to go and coffee, both were good. A bit on the pricey side, its a great place with many vegan options, and go early or you might have to wait long in a queue to be seated. Mofongo Relle Churrasco with garlic sauce is amazing. So many people have recommended this spot and I can see why. It's delicious and definitely shareable. Cuban egg rolls were a perfect to share with the group. We all had a chance to taste the wonderful flavors. I felt like we had a tapas experience because we also share the empanadas of chicken, cheese and beef. Two of each. Everything we had was made just right.
