Grabbed lunch at Pannes. The restaurant was clean and well lighted. We were shown to a table in the back. Our server greeted us and said she would be right with us. Although the menu had several tempting items we decided to share the aquacate relleno pollo with plantains. It was just the right size for use to share. The avocado was ripe. The chicken was tender. The sauce had a nice flavor. The plantains had been flattened then fried. We had two sodas. Our bill including tip was $24.
This place was in walking distance of our hotel. We ate here twice for breakfast and we had ordered takeout once for a late night snack. It's got a very diner feel to it. The first time we went, we had a chicken BLT that was on a soft bread that was very good. After it was delivered, we noticed that there was no bacon on it on the way to brought us out a whole bunch of bacon, which is probably a lot more than they would've put on the sandwich. We got tostones on the side and ketchup/ Mayo already mixed together is a big thing here. So we dipped our tostones into that and it was very good. One morning we went for breakfast. My husband got the breakfast tacos. I thought they were a little bland, but the hot sauce kicked it up a notch I had an omelette that had ham, veggies and cheese and I opted for American cheese. That was very good. The late night snack we ordered was on crispy bread and it was a Cuban and the bread tasted like it was four days old. It wasn't crispy. It was hard and not good at all so I would highly recommend staying away from any sandwich that is on crispy bread, or ask him to sub for the regular bread. We also got an orange juice that was fresh squeeze and it was probably the largest orange juice I've ever seen. It was probably about 16 ounces and it was very good.
Diner vibes. Good and swift service. Okay food. Fruit bowl wasn't as much of a delight as I hoped and it definitely wasn't worth $10. My fried egg breakfast was good. My bf said his sandwich was filling. Not cheap enough breakfast for the food served. It's not a place I would actually recommend since there are so many better options in the vicinity.
Went twice on my vacation because the banana bread French toast is AMAZING. I kept thinking about it and I wish I had more to bring home! Also the piña colada I had was perfection. My sister ordered eggs and received a side of coco bread and OMG--maybe the best coco bread I've had in my entire life. YOU MUST TRY IT! RIGHT NOW!
Attentive and friendly service with informative tips about the food choices. We came on a Sunday in November and it was pretty quiet at 6pm due to the rain. I haven't eaten a lot of Puerto Rican food, so this is coming from a newly christened foodie. The food came out quickly and the waiter described the mofongo entree well and also recommended his favorite sauce. The chicken had a nice, grilled flavor and the garlic sauce was savory and smooth. The mofongo had an amazing plantain flavor with a mashed yet nice texture. The steak was good and the rice and beans were also yummy. The food was absolutely delicious and well-priced for the area. It wasn't the cheapest but it was in the average price point for being in the center of Condado area along the Main Street.
Great find down the street from our hotel for a few meals other than our resort. Think diner/comfort food with breakfast being star of the show. From Nutella French toast to omelette's. the food delicious and service is friendly and prompt. We enjoyed a late lunch and a "to go" dinner there also. Highly recommended!
My wife and I were in Puerto Rico and we saw this restaurant on Yelp, just a few feet from our hotel and my wife was out in the rainforest , so I was on my own for the day. I entered the restaurant about 11 and it was PACKED. My great server came by and I ordered a beer and a Cuban, which was 2-1 this day! The Cuban was great size, as I took the second one home for a later meal and the pork was super juicy and just the right amount of pickle and mustard, the must do right portion of the Cuban. I ordered another beer and the people kept coming in! Glad to see such a great place get such good business. Lots of people were coming in for their coffee. Great place for a lunch!
Visited for a work conference but still managed to squeeze in some quality time for a good meal and two of my lovies (baby boy youngest son and hubby) aroma was absolutely delicious. After stumbling through my rusty Spanish, we managed to order a brunch like meal - me: omelette with cheese etc (se llama "tortilla de huevos" en español ) y papas. A bit heavy on the grease. Server was patient thank goodness! The space was simple not fancy but adequate with a great location on strip with numerous other businesses. Worth a try if you're in town.
After landing in San Juan and checking into our hotel, my family and I walked down to Pannes for lunch. We were seated quickly upon arrival near the front door and given our menus. We ordered the sorullos appetizer and the crazy pollo to share. I wish the sandwiches came with more fulfilling side to be honest but potato sticks are the norm so I don't count it against them. The sandwich was nice and the corn based app was a hit with the toddler so pretty decent visit overall!
This was our last brunch together and I loved it. It was delicious and I recommend this place. The food was great and the service was amazing. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. I ordered fried pork chop chunks and they were delicious and were cooked. I also ordered mamposteao as my side dish. We ordered fresh orange juice and champagne to make mimosas. The place does get filled; we did have to wait for a table. I loved this meal and I would love to go back again.
We went in search of some great food to start our day and came across this local busy spot. This was the Perfect place for all things food. I mean the door was ever revolving and it got so crowded people were standing waiting out the door. We were seated and looked at the menu. There was so many different t options from eggs, to pastrami sandwiches to stuffed avocado to mofongo. I was drooling. And checking out the tables around us everyone's dish looked desirable. I said the hell with it and went all in and ordered some spicy sandwich that had meat, caramelized onions, pepper jack cheese, and sweet plaintains. The sandwich was enormous a d I had to share but I regret nothing! If you're ever in PR this is a daily must oh and the coffee was to die for I mean I have to have coffee and this was the place to have it all! read more
From the moment you walk in you're greeted with a warm smile and you're made to feel welcomed. The ambiance is relaxed- they explain that you can either order at the counter for take out or feel free to have a seat and a "mesero/a" (waiter/ waitress) will be right with you. And they certainly were. The service is excellent. I only went in for a simple Cuban coffee and tostada (pressed bread with butter) and they did not disappoint. The bread was fresh and delicious. The coffee hit The Spot- y'all know exactly what I mean! It was too much to eat at one sitting so I ordered a coffee to go and finished it up in the hotel room. Will definitely be back! read more
So many items on menu to choose from that we had to visit it twice during our trip. Everything we tried was good. The sandwiches are huge and the flan de coco was so creamy and delicious. The service was super friendly and made us feel very welcome. read more

Slow service but the food was worth the wait. I had French toast & bacon; my hubby had the Ashford special. I forgot to take a pic of the food, but it was good!!! My mimosa was good, too. Food was so good we went back from breakfast this morning, 4/6/25. The service was much quicker & our server, STEPHANIE, was fantastic!! Had chicken & French toast & a mimosas!!! read more

We'll start with the good. The service was great, waitress was very kind and patient while we decided and checked on us the perfect amount. Restaurant was clean and quiet enough to chat but not so quiet it felt awkward. I got a white chocolate mocha iced latte that was VERY syrupy, almost too sweet to drink. I feel like the menu was a bit misleading with their descriptions. I ordered the stuffed avocado with fried eggs and whole wheat toast. I imagined from the description that the avocado would be stuffed with something, but alas it was just half an avocado with two eggs on top and two tiny slices of toast. Overall very unexpectedly bland. My husband ordered the banana bread French toast which was a large portion, with bananas and strawberries on top. Two thick slices of tasty banana bread, however, not French toast. They were definitely not dipped and cooked in egg mixture, just warmed a little and put on the plate. The whole experience cost just over $60 for the two of us and I feel there are much better places to go for breakfast in the area. read more

This is a truly well organized friendly place. The coffee is excellent, delicious pastries and breakfast. Save yourself the frustration of other places with "high reviews" that are full of rules, frustrations and attitudes. Thanks Andrea for a great experience; which we had come here before. read more

This place was conveniently located right next to our Airbnb, and we wanted to enjoy a good brunch before exploring more of El Condado. The service was mediocre. Our server forgot several items multiple times--for example, we had to ask three times for MayoKetchup before she finally brought it. The food took about 45-55 minutes to come out, which I understand because they were busy, but it wasn't worth the wait. The beefsteak sandwich had decent flavor. The bread was soft yet crunchy on the outside from being toasted, which was nice. However, the beefsteak was overly chewy; every bite felt like a workout, as I had to chew repeatedly before swallowing. Rating: 4.8/10 The chicken and waffles were good. The chicken tenders were soft and not dry, and the waffles were fluffy. It wasn't bad, but it was just your average chicken and waffles--nothing exceptional. Rating: 5.4/10 read more

Stopped in for breakfast with a friend. I had the Super Bowl scramble and it was terrible. The egg was overly wet and the potatoes were old. To add insult to injury, they charged me for the food I did not eat. My friend enjoyed his scrambled eggs which were pretty basic. I wouldn't return. read more

This is fairly a new place in San Juan on Ashford Ave. it's clean and welcoming. Friendly staff awaits you. We sat at a high table and immediately asked for coffee. It's PR you must have their coffee...and creamy oatmeal. They serve breakfast all day long so no worries if you're sleeping in. I noticed more locals there than tourists who liked to be enjoying their chicken and ribs. Today I needed breakfast so I ordered the eggs over easy, with 2 pancakes topped with fruit and a side of their local toast which was sprinkled with sugar. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the pancakes were thick and fluffy. As they should be. But watch yourself because the toast was addicting. I usually go for rye bread but they only offer wheat or white or their local bread. I made the better choice. I'm recommending Pannes Condado as your go to breakfast place to be. If you enjoy watching tv while you eat, don't worry they have that covered as well. read more
On the last day of my trip to San Juan the restaurant we wanted to grab a bite before heading to the airport and stumbled upon this restaurant which was a few steps from our hotel. The minute I walked in I said to my friend that I have a hunch this is going to be some of the best Puerto Rican food we've had and IT ABSOLUTELY WAS!!! The place itself is fairly large and gives off local diner / lunch counter vibes but the entire place was filled and buzzing with great energy from both the customers and staff. Our waitress was covering multiple tables but greeted us as soon as we were seated. We also knew that service on islands is typically more relaxed because no one is a rush to go anywhere but we were surprised that wasn't the case here because our server was beyond attentive and friendly. THE FOOD: When I tell you that I've had Puerto Rican food both in Puerto Rico (on this and other prior trips to the island) and at Puerto Rican restaurants in both NYC and other major cities and I now realize that food was nothing compared to the food we had here at Pannes! OMG! The shrimp mofongo was literally not just the best bite I had on this trip but literally the best mofongo I've EVER HAD!!! My sandwich was a spin on the Cuban sandwich with pernil and it honestly was also one of the BEST pressed sandwiches I've ever had ... I only ate half and asked for the other half to be wrapped so I could eat it at the airport lol. My friend loved the steak and eggs and our rum punches literally packed a nice punch and were made with freshly pressed juices. I am making it my business on my next trip to visit this restaurant again so I can experience that shrimp mofongo again and try other menu options as well. read more

Pannes is your go to spot along this Condado strip when you don't want to overpay for food at your hotel resort. If your palate is not overly adventurous for authentic Puerto Rican food, this is your spot. If you lean Puerto Rican, you can get a hint of that authenticity here. This is certainly your breakfast or lunch kind of place. It's a simple no frills decor that puts you slightly in the mind of a diner. Our server, Natalia, was responsive and respectful. I ordered the Messi skirt steak sandwich that comes with string potato sticks and my girl ordered the steak Volcano mofongo. The Messi looks very sizable and impressive, with a somewhat flattened footlong type of bread. It is served on what looks like a sheet of newspaper atop a wooden cutting board. There is melted cheese and some kind of creamy sauce and diced tomatoes in there. The taste is a bit less impressive, but certainly good for most tastes. I took about a quarter of it back to the hotel. The Volcano steak mofongo at double the price is another animal. The mofongo is a high stack affair with chunks of steak atop and everywhere. Anyone will be pleased with the amount of steak on this oval platter. The steak and mofongo is served with a creamy sauce that reminds one of the sauce for chipped beef. It resembles a volcanic mofongo. It's comfort food that requires two sittings for most people to consume. It tastes great. It's not that the steak is marinated, but that sauce works well to bridge the mound of plantain and steak. The sauce brings it all together. That too was taken back to the hotel. It's hard to eat reasonably along this Condado strip. Pannes should be high on your list of places to visit and revisit. Add Natalia's quality of service and you'll find Pannes represents a good value not to be ignored in this area. Three and a half stars. read more

This place is unassuming from the outside but huge once you step inside. We went for breakfast and despite the rush we're seated quickly. Our server was on it the entire time- quick, friendly, and always aware. The popeye special was delicious and my fiancé loved the Ashford special. He said the French toast was a bit dry, but I personally don't prefer it super moist. Coffee was great! Our favorite breakfast spot in Condado so far. read more
One of the better places in Condado area to have simple breakfast or lunch. The menu is large and they serve breakfast all day. We ordered various items for breakfast. Husband enjoyed his smoked salmon platter, which had a large portion of salmon. 20 year old ordered regular pancakes. 18 year old and I shared a ham, cheese, & egg Mallorca sandwich and corn bread French Toast. The French toast tasted like grilled corn bread, but it was good. All of the portions were big and the food was solid. The coffee was very good. Prices weee a little high but that is expected in such a touristy area. read more

My husband and I stopped by this spot twice during our trip to San Juan. Initially on our first night we enjoyed the Puerto Rican delight sampler tray. It was perfect as it gave a great way to sample a few of the local delicacies. During our second trip we enjoyed desserts and coffee. The desserts are very good. We enjoyed the carrot cake and the tiramisu. The coffee was also delicious. The service was amazing. The servers were happy to explain the dishes and the customer service was 10/10. The ambience feels more like a cafeteria spot; but the music was fun and well selected. We would definitely return. read more

My sister and I were staying down the street from Pannes, and with all the reviews, I knew right away we had to come here! My sister and I walked over here around 7:30 am. We got seated right away. We decided to get the French toast with nutella and strawberries/fruit and 2 eggs w/ toast and ham. It's a very beachy vibe in here. Things are relaxing and not pretentious whatsoever. The French toast was fantastic. She asked if we wanted 2 or 3 slices, we went with 2 because my sister had a pretty small appetite. And it was still huge. Loved all the fresh fruit that came on top. With the whipped cream and just the right amount of drizzle of nutella so it wasn't too overpowering. The eggs and ham were tasty too, pretty average. We did really like this place, and I stopped by here for a quick bite again. There were a lot of take out orders too. read more

Of all the highly rated breakfast restaurants in San Juan, this one had the best food by far. We rarely go to the same place twice when traveling but this was a good exception. You can tell by looking at the pictures that the food was exceptional. The service was very good during the first visit, but it dropped a bit on the second. The inside of the restaurant was modest with different height table and chairs. The restaurant was also cleaner than many of restaurants we visited. Highly recommended for future travelers to San Juan. read more

The food is delicious! We enjoyed the fresh squeezed orange juice, scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and fruits. We regret not ordering the French toast because the regular toast was so good. The service was great! The host and server were really nice. The decor was nice and the restaurant was spacious. This is a great spot to check out if you have a layover in Puerto Rico. read more

We went for breakfast & were very pleased with the fast service & great food! My best friend & I split our order and we highly recommend the PR Breakfast sandwich (not photographed) - The bread was so soft & the flavors were exactly what we had expected. We also ordered the French toast sandwich which was pretty good, but I have had better. I would definitely go back to try more from the menu. read more
I was trolling the local restaurants in the area out side our hotel "the Vanderbilt" and I stumbled upon This gem it is a local workers spot unbelievable menu of authentic Puerto Rican foods I had at the recommendation of Anita my server / ambassador There signature offering. Pastrami roast beef and ham , pepper Jack cheese and the kicker fried plantains with carmalized onions on a homemade crispy bun and it was fabulous but let me tell you come hungry and you will still be taking most of it with you amazing sandwich highly recommend will be back tomorrow read more

We found this place for breakfast/brunch after searching on Yelp. This place was highly recommended and it was absolutely worth it. Our server, wish we remembered his name, was very engaging. He made time to chat with everyone. Asked us about our plans for the day, etc. he was very friendly. We shared a giant breakfast platter and it was really good. The decor was simple, almost had the vibe of a fast food restaurant but the food was really good. Pannes deserves every one of the five stars. We would totally go there again. read more
