Their office visit fee is now $79 (used to be $65), and there's no multiple pet discount (used to have $5 off the office visit fee for additional pets). We have been using Paoli Vetcare for nearly 15 years, and we have had nothing but outstanding care. Our sweet Buddy had a lot of recent health complications, and Dr. Rowan was incredibly attentive - he went way above and beyond what I would think was necessary to help Buddy and us through this difficult process. When it came time to say goodbye to Buddy, we had Dr. Rowan do that for us, and the experience, while obviously super sad, could not have been more caring or thoughtful. We could hold our boy the whole time, giving him comfort, and we were able to stay with him for as long as we wanted to when he was gone. I could not imagine a more caring vet experience. read more

Me and my family went here to put our cat down. They didn't let us hold her, and the Head Vet immediately injected the stuff to make her pass away and didn't give us a chance to say bye. We just had to put another one of our cats down due to similar health conditions and had such a better experience for about the same price somewhere else. DO NOT PUT YOUR ANIMALS DOWN HERE. I have been going to Paoli Vetcare for about 20 years. I have 2 dogs and a cat. I called them today at 2:15 because my cat seemed very lethargic, and her 3rd eyelid was showing. I could tell she wasn't herself and I wanted someone to take a look at her. I have been a faithful client for a long time. The receptionist said, there were no appointments available today or tomorrow, but she would tell the medical staff about her and someone would call me. Ok, I told them that would be great. It's now 8:00 on Friday night and nobody called from the Vet's office. I was waiting for a call back, but decided to call VRC, and have her seen by someone. I'm not sure why I have stayed with this practice for so long. My experience over the years, hasn't been great, but it was convenient. read more

Erin, I tried to reply but was only redirected to sending a message. I feel it only fair that my response be visible to your comments. The state of the economy has many businesses short staffed. I explained to the vet tech that Molly was barely drinking water or eating so to expect her to be able to either eat a pill or take liquid medication was not a solution. If the tech hadn't been so focused on her agenda that kennel cough was going around but instead open to hearing how sick Molly was she would have suggested Molly be seen by a vet. This wasn't offered, and I was too angry and disappointed in Paoli Vetcare to want to take her back. My frustration was/is with the attitude of the person returning my call on 1/6. I stated that I felt Molly was given too much of the vaccine. The tech dismissed this feelings convinced that Molly caught kennel cough from another dog; however, she is never around other dogs except when boarding at Paoli Vetcare. What DOES make sense to me is that if sick dogs are not housed with healthy ones as you state the only logical conclusion is that Molly was overdosed. She receives the semi-annual vaccine and didn't have this reaction last July. You yourself stated that the vast majority of dogs do not get very sick from kennel cough, and she was so ill that we didn't think she was going to make it. At the very least I expected to receive a follow up call from someone to hear if Molly was improving. I'm not interested in discussing this since Molly is no longer a client of Paoli Vetcare. As Molly's parent for 16 years I feel I know her better than anyone. My suggestion to your staff is to put attitude aside and actively listen to your clients. read more

Everyone that works at this practice is so incredibly nice. A coworker recommended this place when I moved back to the area. My dog had a cyst a week before boarding and they made such a fuss about him and gave him lots of treats. When I went to pay, I was told the first visit was free. I'm boarding him next weekend and when I was given the total, I thought that was each night but it was for 3 days. I have no anxiety about leaving my dog there. I know he's in great hands. Paoli Vetcare is wonderful. Over the years we have used many vets and have had 3 dogs at a time for over 20 years. PV has provided consistent practical and professional advice. A perfect example - our dog hurt his leg and was limping over a weekend. As PV was closed, we took him to one of the "corporate vet practices" farther west on Route 30. They charged us about $850 to diagnose him with a torn ACL - they recommended immediate surgery for nearly $2000 additional. I have owned dogs all my life and never heard of one tearing an ACL. They really browbeat us for being bad owners, because we wouldn't agree to the surgery. The next day, we took the dog to our regular vet, Dr Rowan at Paoli Vetcare and he diagnosed the problem as a broken toe, and said the dog would be fine in a week and needed no further treatment. - Total charge about $100. He was right, the dog was fine, PLUS we got half of our $850 back from the "overchargers" up the street. Paoli Vetcare is the best! read more

Everyone was kind and caring and Dr. Dawn Urioste was so gentle, respectful and knowledgeable. I was instantly relieved and at ease with her warmth and compassionate care. I remain inspired from the moment I walked through the door, as every person working there was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The office and examining rooms are so clean with unique decor and wonderful photographs. WE lost him........Liver and heart ....Advanced stage . But during 2 years I was bringing my dog to Paoli vet. I new something wrong with him.... Doctor(male). always was saying his good. Hi never wanted listen his heart ,never took blood test. ONLY HI NEW ITS TO CLEEN HIS EARS. IF you love yours animals DO NOT BRING THEM HERE. This review is for Paoli Vetcare and Dr. Jay Rowan. This is a long story but definitely worth reading before you decide to take your pet here. I adopted two three-month-old kittens last week and took them here last Thursday. Everything seemed to be fine and Jay told me that they were healthy. The next day I noticed that one of the kittens had hair loss behind her ear and above her eyes, so I took her back to the vet on Saturday. Since Jay was not there, technician Emily took a look at her and said it is not something urgent. She also emphasized that it was not vaccine reaction (they gave vaccines to her on Thursday and were afraid of the responsibility). Since Jay was not there, Emily booked an appointment for me and PROMISED TO WAIVE THE VET EXAM FEE (SHE PUT A NOTE ON THE APPOINTMENT). My husband and I were both there when we had that conversation. And this is what happened during today's appointment. 1. After I got into the room, a nurse/staff (let's call her AA) examined the kitten today and went out. Jay came in, WITHOUT TAKING A LOOK AT THE KITTEN (SHE WAS STILL HIDING IN THE CARRIER), HE CLAIMED IT'S RINGWORM. How did you even know? Superpower? 2. There was something red, which looks like animal blood, on Jay's hand when he touched the kitten. Did he wash his hands before? I don't know. 3. After the exam was done, I went to the front desk to pay the bill. Since the amount was higher than I expected, I asked if the vet exam fee was included in the bill and mentioned that Emily said the exam fee would be waived. Since Emily was there, she confirmed that right away. But maybe she was not authorized to do so, after having a conversation with her colleague, she brought up a new condition, saying that the symptom has to be 'related' to the prior physical exam, and claimed that the ringworm issue was 'not related'. This was not mentioned before and I pointed that out. 4. Since my husband was there when we had the conversation, the vet asked my husband to come, which seemed unreasonable to me. He's at work and couldn't come, so I called him. Three staff were involved in the conversation, and finally, AA said she would check with Jay and see if he agrees to waive the fee. She said Jay was busy at the moment and I had to wait, so I waited. 5. After about 30 min, she asked me to get into a room and said that Jay would be there. After a while, Jay still didn't show up so I came out to the front desk area and asked if they have an update, and my husband was also on the line at that time. 6. Since there were other customers in that area, I guess the vet didn't want me to ruin their business. So the nurse/staff yelled at me 'You cannot have the conversation here, get back into the room!" I refused because I felt uncomfortable being in a small room. AA was upset, and she CAME OUT OF THE FRONT DESK AND PICK UP MY CARRIER AND TRIED TO WALK AWAY. I immediately said 'put down my pet, I'm going to call 911'. I was so scared at that moment since I didn't know what would happen and where she would take my kitten to, so I called 【911】 and asked for help. 7. After I called the police, Jay came out immediately, SAT ON A CHAIR AND POINTED HIS FINGER ON ME. HE YELLED 'YOU ARE A LIAR, YOU ARE A BIG LIAR' and ordered me to leave the building immediately. I was crying, shaking, but I had to protect me and my kitten. Since the police just came in at the same moment (they were fast!), I left the building. I told the police what happened, they went into the building and investigated. I waited outside. After a while, the police came out, saying it was a miscommunication, and said the vet doesn't welcome me anymore, which was funny because I would never go back there. Just as a side note, I took them here last Thursday and the hair loss was found last Friday (the next day). Based on what I said in 2, although I have no evidence pointing directly towards cross-infection in the hospital, I highly doubt if there is any correlation between the first visit and the ringworm problem. This is my first time going to a vet and I feel really bad that I had such experience. read more

I've been bring my dog here for over 14 years. I have always received professional, effective and caring treatment for my pet. The staff, vetrenarians and vet assistants have been outstanding. Dr. Rowan, the owner and head vet is widely knowledgeable and caring. I've had occasions to bring my dog to UofP Vetrenarian Hospital, reputedly the best hospital on the east coast, and I found no vetrenarian or specialist there any more knowledgeable than Dr. Rowan. Dr. Dawn is also excellent. If you're looking for excellent medical care for your pet I would really recommend this office, they've consistently provided wonderful treatment for my dog for years. read more

When our dog helped himself to a dark chocolate bar, I called Paoli Vetcare as soon as I found the empty wrapper and they said to bring him right over. I dropped him off and they made sure he was okay. It was such a relief that I could drop him off and have him monitored while I went to pick up my kids. I have been using Paoli Vet Care for almost a decade for all of our pets. We have been actively involved in rescuing senior and medical-needs GSDs for eight years and all have been seen by Paoli Vet Care. They are top notch in understanding our needs with these special pups, and assisting us in how to provide appropriate, realistic, and needed medical care under varying circumstances. Dr. Rowan, Dr. Urioste, and the tech team are excellent providers, and they care about each pet individually. When needed, which is not often, they never hesitate to refer us to specialists. They have also been excellent with our three cats. One, a few years back, had a significant eye issue and the advice of Paoli Pet Care saved the cat's eye! I was recommended to Paoli Vetcare by a friend whose dog had cancer and needed extensive testing/care. My first appointment was with Dr. Urioste(Dr. Dawn). Not only was she an an amazing doctor but perhaps one of the sweetest people I have ever encountered. Moving forward with my many visits(I have 2 dogs/1 cat)I also had appointments/surgeries with Dr. Rowan(smart & caring). I cant say enough about these two professionals. Care, compassion, amazing follow up and all around animal lovers. My dogs have had ACL repairs, dental surgery, eye issues..you name it. They didn't rest till my one dog was free and clear of health issues, its personal to them. Frankly amazing. Phone calls, follow up appts, check-in's..they care as though your pets are part of their family. I'll add their pricing is more then fair, in fact low if you account that they are very specific about how they charge. I have had pet family members for more years then I can count, this is by far my favorite practice because of the feeling that they "know" you and your pet, they care beyond the business aspect, they just do things "right". I'll also mention the doctors staff(April/ Theresa-Emily/Janine)-They all work so hard, and I appreciate them all so much. Fantastic veterinary service! I have been taking my dog there since he was a puppy seven years ago. Dr. Rowan is exceptional with animals - he owns several dogs, chickens, birds, a horse and a mule! I have always found their service to be prompt, the facilities to be clean, the staff to be polite and prices to be fair and competitive. He always puts my dog at ease. Dr. Rowan blows away the "pretty" veterinary service up the street in terms of his knowledge. Also, unlike other offices, you will not get a different vet every time you show up (I lost a dog at another vet, the "pretty" one, due to their incompetence). My sweet dog was very sick this summer. She was diagnosed with immune mediated hemolytic anemia (IMHA). It is a horrible disease. Dr. Rowan and staff helped us navigate this devastating diagnosis with compassion, patience, and competence. Dr. Rowan called to check on her daily while we were trying to care for her at home.
