I just received an order through Uber Eats from this Papa Gino's. It was a #9 that I always get and usually love. Today it was cold/dry chicken/no cheese/very few vegetables. Disgusting and inedible. My dog won't even eat it. I had to throw away a $25 sub. Uber Eats refunded $2 and the Papa Gino's manager stated he couldn't give a refund because it was through Uber eats. What he could have done was offer to make another one and have it delivered. I've been a loyal customer for years but that ends today. I won't be ordering again. read more

I haven't been to a Papa Gino's in nearly 20 years. Swung in as it's a friend's go to pizza place and was not disappointed. Ordered a large pepperoni pizza and cheesy bread. Both came out after about 20 minutes hot and delicious! They must do a lot of walk in and delivering as the dining area was nearly empty but super clean and organized. Even though it's fast food they didn't call us to the counter to grab our food when it was ready. They brought it to the table and asked if we needed anything. Top notch staff read more

Awful experience. I have dietary issues. I read the menu for the vermonter chicken sandwich and it looked fine. I asked: "honey mustard -- there's no mayo, right?". "No mayo" they guy assured me. After waiting way too long for a simple grilled sandwich, it arrives at my table. It contains honey mustard DRESSING. First, that's like me offering to buy you hockey tickets and when you get there, you find a field and people hunched over, chasing a ball around. There' a big difference. Second honey mustard DRESSING is made by combining honey mustard WITH MAYO. No good, and a mistruth by the staff member. Sent it back. Second, menu says cheddar. I can eat real cheddar. I can't eat dairy unless it's aged dairy-- like cheddar. The menu says cheddar. Even after they removed the dressing, I was suspicious about real cheddar being on my sandwich. Sometimes, I'm just not sure. You know what is sure, every time? My sphinx-ter (typo deliberate to protect the innocent.). My sphinx says IT'S NOT REAL CHEDDAR. I left the restaurant not 10 minutes ago and I am writing this review from my throne, where I will remain for the next 15-20 minutes. MANAGEMENT : YOU NEED TO BE HONEST ABOUT YOUR INGREDIENTS. If I could give negative stars I would. Asked for xtra cheese on no 9 steak- didn't get. Asked for tomatoes and mayo- got 2 slices of tomato and lettuce- which I didn't want. Worst sandwich. I will NOT be wasting my money here...over $20 including tip for med sandwich drink and small chips. I've been to other D'Angelos that are - not here! Double charged. Told to call corporate. Corporate closed. Manager was condescending and tried to tell me how my bank works and wanted to run my card a third time for one order. Spent $62 and have nothing to show it except a guarantee I will never eat there again. Such a shame that the food and now the service have really gone down hill. Wow. TERRIBLE. When I worked for Papa Gino's I would have been embarrassed to serve this pizza (pics attached). Bubbles = dough the wrong temp. Cheese slid to the middle, very greasy, making the dough soggy and cheese slid off when picked up a slice. Black burned pieces on bottom of pieces (oven shelves not clean). Shift Manager Brian was making the pizza and ran the cash register (w/ungloved hands) for a customer, then went back to making pizza without washing his hands. Gross. In fairness they did offer to refund our money (or give a credit toward a future visit - not quite sure which). The offer came so quickly, however, that I got the feeling that refunds aren't a rare occurrence. I declined. I'd rather the company use my money and tighten up its quality control and safe food handling training. read more

I really should have listened to all the Yelp reviews here. This place is HORRIBLE!!! The food was the worse I've had, and I really regret pouring almost 50 bucks here..... First off, the menu said nothing about ordering by the slice. I was pushed to order an XL pizza for just myself.... The pizza itself when it came out looked disgusting! Cheese and meat were not fully cooked and not evenly put across the whole pizza. They forgot the buffalo chicken and brought it out later in a cup of grease and oil.... Never again!!!! read more

I've liked this place for years, until a few days ago. I've always gotten pizza which has been okay, but this time I ordered a chicken caesar salad. Once I got it, the chicken was supposed to be grilled but it wasn't even near warm and didn't tasted cooked. The salad came with NO dressing so I had to ask for it. It didn't taste very fresh either so I'm assuming it wasn't. Otherwise, the pizza here is good but I think there are better places around. read more

This was probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had. Ordered 2 subs and a French fry at 1:06 PM didn't get it til 1:40 PM. My sub had a receipt IN it, not to mention the sub roll was extremely cold and completely fell apart upon lifting it, the French fries are barely room temperature with literally NO salt, when I asked for salt I was told they don't have any. Lol. Tried eating some of the steak in the half without a receipt with a fork (lol again) and tasted something that made me want to vomit. And all of this with the restaurant full and I watched take out orders (placed after we placed our orders) come in and walk out with it ready for them. Prioritize the people literally SITTING IN YOUR RESTAURANT! I'm disgusted and will not be returning. This is why pizza chains will die off, have never had a problem like this let alone all of it at a Mom and Pop owned pizza place. Support small businesses, not this bullshit. read more

Customer service is on point here with the manager and employees. I ordered a sub for take out, and it came out as a pocket. They apologized and said they'd correct it right away, guy rang it in wrong by accident. Normally I'd probably have just taken the pocket since it's still the same sandwich, different type of bread, but I had some time and was really looking forward to their sub roll. They offered me a slice, drink, brownie, chips, etc while I waited and I just said I was all set, but thank you anyway. After all was said and done, they handed me my corrected sub (it was delicious), and told me they had added a $10 credit to my account. Definitely didn't feel like I was in a Papa Gino's chain pizza shop, other stores and restaurants should use this as an example of how to resolve issues. Yeah sometimes people are unreasonable and angry, can't please everyone who thinks that accidents don't happen, but this staff was great. read more

Very disappointed. We have been going there every Friday for a while and recently their customer service has dropped severely. We order online and go when told to pick up - usually 30-45 minutes because it's Friday night. The past few times we have had to wait an additional 30-45 minutes past our pick up time. The person behind the counter is rude when questioned and then won't respond nicely when we check in to see if it is ready yet. Tonight we went to pick up and it had not even been made yet. Again, we were met with annoyance and rudeness and were asked "Well, do you want me to make it or not"? We left called a local pizza place and it was ready when we got there. There was a time when I actually told the manager how awesome this place was and everyone seemed happy. Clearly that has changed. read more

I have been various to Papa Gino's (PG's) over the years in various places: Worcester MA (West Boylston St), Holden MA (Main St), Leominster MA (Commercial St), and each experience is universal it seems regardless of location: Mediocre at best. This location in Chelmsford isn't much different. It seems that PG's intentions are to provide below average food at above average prices. In the past it used to be different: Quality food and reasonable prices. The food now feels "fake" and overly processed. I usually get the Turkey Club pocket and no matter how explicit I am with the order, it gets screwed up. There's way too much mayonnaise, overabundance of lettuce, bacon is barely cooked if it's even in there, and if I ask for onions, it's hit or miss if they make it into the pocket. Some things I can live with, like an under-serving of mayonnaise or forgetting the onions. Unfortunately, when these oversights are nearly universal between PG's locations, that's an issue. Pizzas are "ok". They are basic fare with sweeter than normal sauce and the dough is usually cooked fairly even. The pizzas overall can be quite bland regardless of what the toppings are. The mozzarella sticks are heavily coated and have very little cheese. Usually when I bite into one, it's more hollow than anything. PG's is no longer one of the better chains. They've clearly downgraded over the years in service and quality. There are tons of independent places around where I work and live that offer a better experience and usually are a little cheaper if not the same in price. If you need a quick bite to eat and aren't picky, PG's is a so-so choice. If you want something memorable and made correctly, then try elsewhere. read more

Needing a break from dealing with no electricity (we were without it for five days), I stopped at Papa Gino's, which is usually pretty decent, considering it's a chain. Papa Gino's pizza reminds me of the pizza I used to have in college--thin crust, cheesy and crispy. I usually go with "all cheese" because I'm not that adventuresome. Mr. K called in an order for three slices of cheese pizza, to go, since it was going to take more than 45 minutes for a regular pie...and I am not a patient person (Hi, W). Got home, opened the box. The slices looked and tasted like burnt toast, and the only way I knew they were CHEESE slices is because that's what my husband ordered. They were awful. The reason I'm giving two stars instead of one is that I was given three slices fresh from the oven after I complained the following day that the pizza was inedible and that they shouldn't have sold it to me. The manager was very apologetic. The new slices were tasty. Memo to self: Don't have a pizza joint reheat slices that have probably been sitting under a red "heat" lamp all day. Love pizza places that offer slices! Foods hot and fresh and customer service was surprisingly excellent. They accommodated my quick service needs and did it with a smile. I'll be back.. I'm still a HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE fan of Papa Ginos and when I walked in and saw that they now make burgers I was ecstatic!!!! To tell you the truth, the burger was not bad. I had the regular burger which was built like a Whopper. The only difference was that all the extra things on the burger (lettuce, tomato, onion) were fresher. The beef patty was not horrible, it was though kind of crispy on the edges. So far I have had the burger twice and both times it was like this, which I thought was odd. Overall the new burgers at Papa Gino's aren't that bad, definitely not "the one" If curious about the one, check out my review of Jube's). OH!! and they come with fries which are good as well. Meh. I cam in for a quick slice on the way to a meeting. They were convenient, fast and curteous. The cheese slice was just ok. I founf the sauce sweeter than I like. Pizza worked out great today. You either know and love papa Gino's or you don't. The basic formula for their pizza is something I love and have loved since I was a kid. Sometimes I grab slices on the go and it is usually satisfying. Today I ordered a medium pizza with the toppings I love and told them I was in no hurry and would like it cooked a few xtra minutes. They have a term for this "crispy" for those who complain of undercooked that's the trick, order it crispy! The result was great, loving the pizza as I write this. Good stuff. Cheese sticks ruined me. Got advised to not get a soda I wanted and instead got root beer and I dislike root beer.

So I came in for a pizza at approximately 8:15 on a Thursday evening. Cindy the shift leader completely ignored me standing at the counter and when she finally turned around she said "be with you in one minute ". It wasn't until another employee got off the phone and come over to take my order. Cindy continued to pick through the toppings and made my pizza without washing her hands or even putting on gloves. This seems extremely unsanitary. What a joke to ignore your customers and make them wait for another employee. When you're dealing with a chain, a lot depends on what kind of manager each particular establishment has in place. I ate at this restaurant a few years ago and did not have a good experience. The servers were smart-ass punks, the food was lousy, and when I complained to the so-called "manager," he turned out to be an even more obnoxious smart-ass then his moronic employees (which was really quite a feat and which also proved, very nicely, that the old adage of "the fish rotting from the head" has a great deal of validity). At any rate, I ended up having to complain to the DM in order to get my money back, and I promised myself that I'd never go back there again. But, a month or so ago, I did go back in there (and was not at all shocked to find a new store manager) and I also had a completely different experience. I ordered a couple of slices (a little well-done) and was happily surprised at how good they were (reminding me of how good Papa Gino's used to be in my high school days) and the servers were polite, too. I also went back a week ago, ordered one of their pasta specials and, I must admit, I really did enjoy it. (And the service was good this time, too. In fact, between the service and the meal, I was tempted to give them 5 stars, but since I've only eaten there twice, that would be a tad premature.) Obviously, this place is not going to put any of the North End restaurants out of business (and I also can't speak for any of the other PG franchises in the area) but there is a reason why Papa Gino has been around for over 50 years, and this place proves that if a restaurant has some decent recipes going for it, along with a good, professional staff to run it, then there's really no reason why a diner can't have a very good experience eating at a chain restaurant. read more

I personally love Papa Gino's and have had no complaints in the past, but today, after going there for lunch, I regrettably would have to change that. I ordered a couple of pepperoni slices and a soda, and everything seemed to be ok, until I noticed that there was something on my slice. It looked to be some sort of hair or other fiber, and upon closer inspection, I realized that there was a whole lot of it melted into my cheese. I began to pick through and pull it out which revealed that underneath one of my pepperoni slices was a big clump of this plastic fiber. All i could think of was that someone shredded a plastic brillo pad and spread it around the pizza. Not only was this foreign material on that slice, but after examining my other slice, I found more. I mean, I can understandably imagine a rogue hair or two from one of the workers landing on a pizza from time to time, that's life... but to have 50 or so plastic fibers scattered all over my pizza slices, and a large clump underneath a pepperoni is just plain ridiculous, and I'm sure that you'll agree, quite disgusting. I don't plan on eating there again, which is a shame, because I truly do enjoy Papa Gino's pizza. read more

I live nearby and I'm always having problems at this store, particularly with online or app orders. The last 3 times I've ordered this way they haven't had the orders even started when I get there after the confirmed time. Because of these problems I don't go to this store anymore. I order from this Papa Ginos from time to time when I'm tired from a long day of work and dont feel like cooking. Usually the food is decent or mediocre. Tonight, however, I order from there and had a terrible experience. They were over half an hour later than their expected delivery time and when I finally opened my food the pizza was burnt and there was hardly any cheese. Furthmore, the breadsticks had clearly been sitting out all day and were soggy with grease. The cheese had congealed and was not at all melty or fresh. I don't know who manages the place but I never would have let food go out like that. A total waste of money. I will not be ordering from there again. read more
