We found this local gem looking for a breakfast place while on a road trip from NC. We always love visiting local joints rather than big chains, and this spot didn't disappoint! Our family of four was welcomed and our girls were immediately presented with bubbles! We ordered: tenderloin biscuit (so tender and an amazing homemade biscuit), gravy biscuits, sausage (wow, great taste and texture!), bacon, cinnamon roll, and pancakes. About those pancakes.... You may wonder, like me, why the menu says "one" pancake. Please see the accompanying picture for explanation. They're the size of a small pizza! Incredibly fluffy and delicious. Pancakes, eggs, and many other items are made to order; whereas bacon, sausage, and other items are available in the cafeteria-style ordering line. Highly recommend! Was in the area with my Granny for an appointment and stopped afterwards. It's cafeteria style. You go down the line and let them know why options you want. A variety of meats, vegetables and breads. The portion sizes were decently generous. I like that for some of the veggies that they put them in a separate container so the juices are not overflowing to the other food. Even though it was our first time eating here, everyone -- staff and regular patrons -- made us feel right at home with warm smiles and full plates that your grandma would approve of. Papa Jack's is in the heart of Braselton and it is a little gem of the town. The servers are super homely and attentive. The feel of the place ( we didn't sit in the front bar area) was like a rustic home setting. The food was good and was more like homestyle. They have a few items that change daily on the menu. Thought I would give an update, but everything is the same. Papa Jack's is my go to place and I've moved 15 miles away but I still come over here in the morning when I can to grab my bacon egg and cheese biscuit with some grits or ham, coffee or on Friday night still get my fried catfish and hush puppies, which are the best around. A lot of the same people have worked here 20 years and supported the local area and definitely were Norm goes ! everybody knows your name if you're a regular or they know who you are. Consistent quality, food , friendly, best service around you cannot beat Papa Jack's! Call it country food or soul food it's the place in flowery branch Braselton, Winder areas. Been coming here for almost 2 decades, since the old location next to the bottle shop as well. A Duncan Corners staple, this is what it's all about. This is authentic southern cuisine and a perfect country kitchen. Papa Jack is a standup guy and never fails to make your morning, along with the rest of the staff. It doesn't get much better and more authentic than papa jacks. They have great service, but I don't personally like the food. I have tried it multiple times, and they have a following that really enjoys it. Personally I think growing up around this area everyone has there preference on biscuits, and sides. Worth the shot, you never no it may be your flavor profile they always have a line. read more

My husband and I were looking forward to some real southern cooking and, especially, their fried chicken livers. We arrived about 11:35 in hopes of getting food that had not been sitting out for a long time. unfortunately, the chicken livers were not hot and were fried to the point that they were tiny hard rocks. we both had mashed potatoes and brown gravy, both of which were obviously not homemade. The gravy tasted straight from a jar. my husband had fried squash that was inedible (again tasted like something you would buy in the frozen food isle of the grocery store). The only decent thing we had was the turnip greens and they were nothing to write home about. I will say that the customer service was great. Very friendly employees from the servers to the cashier, etc. We really wanted to love this place since we just moved to the area but, unfortunately, we couldn't have been more disappointed. read more

My husband and I went into Papa Jacks and we were greeted by a lady who opened the door for us. We told her this was our first time in Papa Jacks and she directed us to the lunch line. We turned the corner and saw several steaming trays full of fried chicken and chicken fried steak, meatloaf and other comfort food entrees. We also saw vegetables and Mac and cheese, black eyed peas. The server asked if I wanted biscuits or cornbread. The food was delicious. We paid at the cash register and a server carried my husbands tray to our table. I would enjoy eating here again. I personally do not recommend. The food is bland. No seasoning whatsoever. My two year old refused to eat the food and he loves southern cooking. Complete waste of money. Service sucks. They will close drive thru randomly, not answer the phone, or bother to update their website. Food also sucks. You can tell just about everything is either canned or frozen. Ambiance is okay since they are going for a no class theme. Used to enjoy about 10 years ago but they have since made adjustments switching from fresh produce to fresh out of a can. Two things to start 1. I did take out through the drive thru and starting eating my food almost 20-30min later and 2. If you label yourself as a Country Restaurant and you have corn bread, I will judge everything on the corn bread. I really wish I could give Papa Jack's 3.5 stars, but don't think deserve only 3. I used the drive thru, since I was running home with 2 little ones. The drive thru was easy but I only ordered 1 meat and 1 side, because I was a little frazzled with their main menu and their Sunday menu. I got the chicken fried steak, mac and cheese, and corn bread. I got their popular peach cobbler as well- had to try it. The lady taking my order was very nice and quick with my order. I will say though after looking at their menu and prices, I feel I was over charged for my food. $8+ for my meal, when on their menu 1 meat and 2 sides are $6 and change. The steak was actually really good and I bet it would be awesome and crunchy but with the gravy and waiting it got it soggy. The gravy was a little salty. The mac and cheese was okay, wish they were little more creamy. Now let's talk about the corn bread! NOOO!!!! This was bad corn bread. It was very dry, lacked any corn taste and had no flavor or buttery feel. I was really disappointed. The peach cobbler was really good! It was sweet and syrupy. I will be back for the cobbler. I hope to go again and eat in, but was average food from what I had today. read more

I really enjoy the breakfast. The biscuits are huge and easily loaded with whatever you want. Buttery on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Full breakfast menu with the normal go-tos and plenty of meat options. Cozy interior with plenty of seating and a large back room. The people working here are even a reason to stop in! I wanted to be fair when I gave my review which is why I gave this place 3 stars. I'll be white honest, I'm not a huge fan of the food, but the service here is world class hospitality. If you're thinking of coming here there are a few things you need to know. 1. This is not a sit down and order you food place 2. You stand in a lunch (breakfast) line 3. They have a drive thru On to the food: I had 2 eggs over medium, hash browns, bacon, and a sweet tea. Eggs cooked perfectly. The hash browns were stale and rubbery almost: they're sitting out too long getting over cooked in that heat. The bacon was the star of the show. Crispy just like I like it! The sweet tea was perfect! Wife had. Scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, and biscuit with gravy. He's were good with the added Texas Pete hot sauce. Hash browns was the same story. The biscuit was not soft and fluffy, it was water chewy and hard to cut through with a fork. The gravy was not great either. Some extra salt or sausage grease would have jazzed it up more. It tasted like flour. That's the first thing I tasted right away. The reason I gave 3 stars was the service. The folks in the kitchen were all friendly and joking with the customers. The ladies on the floor taking plates and filling up cups are all very nice and chatting up the customers. I'd come back to eat the eggs and bacon only, just because the service was great. read more
