    Homemade Baked Gnocchi
    Jill S.

Papa Joes has become our favorite local pizzeria. Just a fantastic NY style pie! But it's not just the pizza that's amazing, everything we have ordered has been great! Our favorites are the baked gnocchi (just wow!) the meatball sub and/or the chicken parm sub (the best chicken parm sub in CFL and it's made on a sesame seed roll which is next level!) If you live in the area and your family needs a go-to Italian restaurant, choose Papa Joes.

Sicilian Salmon with garlic broccoli for my gluten allergy.

We have never had a bad meal here. We have eaten the pizza, gluten free white pizza, lasagna, cake and many other items on the menu. They have all been delicious. Tonight was really spectacular. I had the Sicilian Salmon without the butter sauce for my gluten allergy. It was so fresh. Just the right amount of seasoning, the broccoli was tender but not too much and the lighter sauce was so good and lemony, I loved it. My friend and hubby had sausage ravioli which they both enjoyed and her husband had lobster ravioli which was in a pink sauce and stuffed nicely. The service was impeccable and we almost always get a hello from the owner-tonight it was a Merry Christmas wish and wonderful conversation. Don't miss this little gem plus they have two more in Lake Mary.

Joe's Antipasta Salad. This was good.

In my heart of hearts, I want to give this place a high ranking. But, it's getting 3 stars, which is a C grade. First off, the ambience is fun and a bit campy. It's decent enough. A mix of Italian-inspired decor, with tons of Brooklyn Dodgers memorabilia (which is cool) and then old food service posters - you know those posters about cheese, tomatoes, deli meats, etc. So, it's all a mish-mash. But you get the point that the owner is an old-school, real Brooklyn-Italian. And he is. And he's really, really nice. And cares about food and restaurants. That's why I want so badly to give this place a 5, but because of the food, it's a 3. So what was good? Well, Joe's Antipasta Salad is actually very good. Large portions of meat and cheese on lettuce and a really good Italian dressing make this salad, not only a good value, but something you could devour after a workout, and still feel good about, while getting in some serious protein. So yes it was good, although it did have that food-service kitchen quality to it, rather than genuine restaurant quality. Let's get to the disappointing part. The garlic knots. They were dry, hard and stale almost. Covered in oil and basic, raw minced garlic. If you've been to a great Italian joint, or other places in Orlando (I'm talking about you Pizza Bruno) you know how good a garlic knot can be. Here, they were just bad. Not a pleasure to eat. Tough on the stomach. And almost thrown together. Then the pizza, which I ordered super thin and crispy. It came out not that way. It was chewy and still doughy. The cheese and sauce were good, but nothing remarkable. But again, it just doesn't come close to other places with smashingly good pizza. It's just really average. Which is the fitting term for this place in general. Really, really average. Hence 3 stars. Yes, it's a heart-warming local joint, with all of the best intentions. But somewhere that doesn't translate onto the plate. I wouldn't say don't go, but I wouldn't make it a special trip. And stay away from those knots.

Not the same Poppa Joe's as the years go by and time passes. Probably more of a 3.5 these days but still a good joint to stop by for a couple of cuts and a coke. Still wish they sold the bianca by the slice like they do in most pizza joints.

    Hot garlic crispy wings. Delicious!!

When you get to the top three there is no longer even a "best" discussion anymore; it really comes down to the style you are in the mood for. Service, for a pizza place, is beyond amazing. The place itself also has a "market" but it doesn't distract from making you feel like you are still in a quiet restaurant - as much as a pizza place will ever be. True, I had the BITE30 menu on this most recent visit. The Italian Meatballs - 100% Beef hand rolled meatballs served in our from-scratch marinara and topped with house croutons and grated cheese to start were amazing. The Stella - black truffle ricotta, mozzarella. Served with tomato, arugula, and a ariston balsamic dressing, topped with a burrata ball, well, what can I say. Generally, I'm not a fan of these star pizza creations but they do it right enough here where I would have this one again. Then for dessert, which I usually never have, was the Chocolate Mousse - Rich and airy chocolate topped with whipped cream and chocolate chips. Yeah, for my own good, I need to stay anyway from that one!

I know this place has quite the following and I hope y'all continue to support your fave business. This just totally missed the mark for me. When I met Paul the pizza connoisseur (he chuckled when I bequeathed this name to him) I again inquired about bite 30. He told me he was short staffed. I understand that completely. However, when I asked if I could order an appetizer, pizza, & dessert he said that was totally doable but to order off the regular menu. That's the same as what bite 30 offers but at a higher price point. Didn't seem right to me. There were 3 other tables while we were there. You order at a kiosk & it's not a full service situation so being understaffed as a reason seemed odd. I was watching them sling out pizzas, pastas, etc with zero problems. I hoped to try the Stella & margarita pizzas but it looks like I'll be living vicariously through everyone else's pics. During lunch ambience is quiet. Especially during the week. I wish them all the best & I'm happy they have regular patrons.

This is a cozy little place on the end of a plaza near the Altamonte Mall, directly next to Jason's Deli. They are open form aam-9pm every day and they have a yummy lunch special from 11-5 pm. They are generous with the portions and the food was excellent! I got the Anthony's Speciale pizza, with a small Caesar Salad and a drink for just $10! They do all of their pizzas not by the slice, but are 8' personal pizzas! That way you get a whole pizza to yourself! The toppings are fresh and of the best quality, even the pepperoni and cheese comes from Italy!! The service was quick and efficient. My friend started with the Minestrone soup, which I had a sample of. And wow that was one of the best Minestrone I have ever had!! When I walked in, there wasn't anyone at the counter, so I waited about 3 to 5 minutes before someone came up to take my order. Once I ordered, my pizza was ready in about 10 minutes. The first thing you'll notice is the size. The slice is huge and definitely lives up to its reputation. Unfortunately, the taste didn't do the same. The mushrooms weren't cooked enough for my liking, there wasn't much cheese, and the pizza just felt like it had been put together in a hurry. The crust was also pretty bland and didn't add much flavor to the overall slice. I visited about an hour before closing, so it's possible that played a part, but since this was my first experience, it wasn't the best first impression. A whole pizza is quite a bit more expensive than buying a slice, so based on this visit, I don't think I'd be willing to take that chance. Food: 2 out of 5 Service: 2 out of 5 Value: 2 out of 5
