If you know anything about Chicagoans you know we're usually pretty serious about our food in general and ESPECIALLY our pizza in particular. I'm sure I haven't eaten from Papa John's in 20 years, and even then it was likely something that somebody had laying around and I decided to grab a slice. I don't consider it real pizza so I never wasted my money on it. That said, I was hungry and didn't feel like cooking and lo and behold I've been watching this Shaq-A-Roni commercial with Shaquille O'Neal in it. Ordinarily I'm not sucked in by marketing (cuz you know, stuff NEVER looks like in the commercial) but I must admit this one got me. Mostly cuz I like Shaq. Cool dude. So I ordered one, and it's $12 +tax.... So I figure for that price how bad can it be? Turns out it's (really) not bad. I certainly don't taste any double cheese like the commercial says but the pepperoni does go all the way to the edge and I zhooshed it up with some fresh basil, Italian seasoning and pepper flakes. It was a decent $12 expenditure. I thought about ordering some wings but I didn't feel like pressing my luck. Papa John's is still high school/college pizza for the unintiated to me but this one is a little bit better than a regular pepperoni so I'd recommended it. Ledos certainly isn't in danger of losing me long-term. I might add that the pizza was super hot when I picked it up. The bottom was almost too hot to handle and it certainly was too hot for me to taste a slice after I walked outside of the location (like I wanted to), but it got cold fast by the time I got to my next stop. Its ok... is about the best I can say and what sums up my review. However, should you decide to read on I'll give specific examples on things that they (Papa Johns) can do better, and what we as pizza lovers can do to ensure we get the best pizza. Tips up front: Order on their app, if you use the phone they use a central ordering system, you don't speak to the store, and their prices (through phone) are higher. Carry out special is $10.99 (Always select cash payment option, you can pay with card when you arrive) Delivery (on average) takes an hour Order well done as their pizzas only cook for 6:55 which means your pizza sits longer Never use door dash or any other delivery service other than papa johns I moved to the Fort Washington area a year ago and in that time I've probably ordered from this location at least once a month. I've mainly went with carry out because the delivery on average takes over an hour. I'm only 2 miles away and frankly that's just way too long to wait. Did you know a papa johns pizza takes just 6:55 minutes to cook? That means if you order delivery, on my averages from the last year, your pizza has sat for at least 53 minutes or more. Additionally, if a store is slammed with orders, they have these "WOW" ovens that only take four minutes. Personally, I order every pizza and request that they are "Well Done" but even with that request, most of the time its ignored because I'll continue to cook their pizza in my oven at home as it still feels vastly undercooked. Your delivery driver is tasked with getting all of your sauces, drinks, etc. and more times than not, they forget to bring them. On ALL of my delivery orders something was always forgotten (usually the extra sauce cups I bought). But with this last time, they forgot to bring the drinks and stated that they only had "diet." Sorry, there's usually a reason I order your overpriced drinks, and its always because I don't have anything other than water in my house so diet would've been better than what I currently am offering my guests. I'm very understanding and that didn't even bother me all that much, but when the delivery driver told me it was "not her problem" but "your problem" when I asked for a refund, I felt like that was a bit harsh. After sleeping on it, and forgetting about altogether for a few days, I decided to reconsider and call the store. All calls to the store are re-directed to a central ordering system (with higher prices) and after a frustrating amount of time and explanation of how its "your problem" (thanks delivery driver) you're finally forwarded to the store. Once I got the manager on the phone, he told me I waited too long to get a refund and outright refused... ok man, sure, sorry I had guests and didnt call right away on Saturday night but I also didn't wait a month either, it was Tuesday. If that $3 drink means that much to you, I can file a dispute with my credit card, cite what you said specifically, what the delivery driver said and, provide the ring video, and receipt in the end, the entire order was refunded. Remember the card holder agreements should you use a credit card, the burden is upon them to prove it. Since the "my problem" I've just ordered pickup and I always select the cash option, which as you probably guessed, there is a reason for. Last month, I ordered my pizza, showed up to pick it up and the store was slammed, it was pure chaos. I saw pizzas being dropped, sauce cups being thrown, and angry customers. The waiting room is so small that if there are more than two people you have to wait outside. Therefore, while we were waiting outside the five of us that were trying to be orderly, we'd watch people whom we thought were delivery drivers but were in fact three customers, cut the long line of pizza customers and were being served because papa john's fails to have organization towards long lines. After what felt like an eternity of waiting, (only because it was December and frigid out) I had had enough and decided to go home. That Friday night, the 10.99 carryout special just wasn't worth the wait. I had selected the cash payment option and I'm glad I did because I was able to walk away, and even though I left sans pizza, I didn't lose any money, just time. In conclusion, I haven't reached that I'm never ordering again stand, but I'm getting there. I understand mistakes happens and more times than not the delivery driver is teenager or young adult. However, the manager, who is obviously an adult, and outright refused to refund an order that they failed to deliver is concerning and is exactly why I let my bank handle it. Moving forward, I've implemented my mitigation strategies to ensure the best "ok" pizza experience possible: well done, pay in cash, always pick-up, use their app for the best price and hopefully with that I can continue to get an "ok" pizza. read more

Management improved! We have been ordering from the Fort Washington location for over 10 years and it's always been hit or miss. There has been a marked change recently. Delivery comes much faster. Tonight there was a mix up on our order . When I called, the gentleman on the phone was super professional and had the issue rectified and delivered to our house within 10 minutes!!! Food poisoning. I was in the mood for pizza yesterday night- and I wasn't getting home from work until 9pm. So I ordered from Papa Johns for pick-up and got their new stuffed crust large pepperoni pizza, wings, jalapeño poppers, and a cookie for my husband and I. I had 1 slice, 3 wings, and a cookie slice. Not enough to make you sick on overeating by far. My husband had 1 slice as well, but didn't eat his crust. He said the food tasted funny, and that his stomach hurt. I put the food away (which I will now be throwing in the trash) and we went to bed a few hours later. I woke up this morning and my stomach really started to hurt, but nothing happened. I brushed it off, but later I got nauseas. Like- saltine crackers and water with some rest couldn't do the trick kind of nauseas. I was sitting up in bed trying to ease my discomfort for a few hours until my stomach finally gave me relief and I just threw up everything my stomach could offer. So this Papa John's is located in a strip mall off of Fort Washington Road! It is the nearest location to the Guy, so we go here every now and again! For some strange reason, we always pick up! Not sure why! LOL! Either way, of the couple of times we have ordered here, the pizza is good, its as advertised, however, the problem with this location is a customer service issue! This location appears to be run by teenagers and very young adults, hence a lack of customer service! You go in to pick up and there is absolutely no greeting upon entry or even when you go to the counter in the small space! They continue on with their conversations as if you're not even there! Extremely unprofessional! But my pet peeve with this location is that they don't even cut the pizza clean! We've had to break out knives to cut the slices clean! Its very frustrating! I just had THE WORST customer service at Papa Johns in Fort Washington. I will NEVER patronize them again off of principal. I ordered 3 pizzas which one was supposed to be the NY Style Pizza. I got home and noticed it was just a XL hand tossed pizza. So I decided to call the store. The guy answered the phone and I explained this to him. His response was "How do you know?" I was really taken aback by his comment. I told him we know what a NY Style pizza looks like and this looks like the other pizza I ordered. So he told me I could bring in the pizza they will look at it and then make me a new one. I told him, I am in a rush and didn't have time to wait because I needed to be somewhere, can you start making it so it is ready. His response was "The manager has to look at it first then we can make it." So I asked to speak to the manager, so I can explain that I needed made and didn't have time to wait. This guy then says the manager isn't here. Huh? So I am confused at this point and asked how he is going to look at it when he isn't there. So I asked for the manager's name and his name. He refused to give me the name and HUNG UP ON ME. So now I am furious. I called back twice and he placed me on hold immediately (because they have caller ID). Round 2: I use the house phone and he answers. I confronted him about hanging up on me. I told him I was recording the conversation and that I wanted to speak to the manager. He said "I am the manager" What? I continued to say I needed to speak to someone else other than him and he refused and got smart with me. I repeated that I was recording the conversation and that I needed his name, he says "Jason" At this point, I want ALL of my money back. Round 3: When I have to go act crazy for decent service. I show up furious. I waited for the lady who assisted me to avoid a conflict. He tried to approach me and I told him I didn't want to talk to him numerous times. I explained to the lady the whole ordeal. They guy continued to interrupt the conversation and continued to engage me and I let him have it. I told her I needed a full refund, she said that he is the manager (mind blown) and she was the assistant manager. She would need to ask him for the refund. Do you know this guy REFUSED to give me a refund and said the general manager had to approve it? Like wow. I said I AM NOT LEAVING WITHOUT A REFUND. He actually threatened to call the police on me. My response: Call them. Finally the general manger walks through the door and I let me know the issue. He refunded my money and said he'll talk to him. I asked for their names because oh, I AM STILL CALLING CORPORATE. The most mind-blowing this is we really had to do this over a $10 pizza, when I literally have patronized this store and Papa Johns for decades. And the fact 1 of the 3 pizzas I order I just wanted corrected. I am appalled that he had the audacity to conduct himself like that and should not be working in customer service and I don't want anyone who cannot respect patron and the residence servicing this shop. read more

I figure I'd take the time to write this review because I have plenty of it. It's 8:40pm We placed our order at 6:13pm and got it around 40 minutes later. Awesome timing. Unfortunately, they got most of it wrong - missing parts of the order, added toppings we had specifically asked not be added because of allergies, etc. Called back and they acknowledged they had made a mistake and said they'd resend it. At 8pm we called to find out where the order was - we figured an hour was plenty of time. They said the driver couldn't find our house and so turned around. If only there was some sort of handheld device that you could use to magically communicate with people. We could call it a ... cellphone! Apparently the driver didn't have one because no attempt was made to call us. Update: Pizza finally got here. They messed up the order, again. Almost three hours after the original order was placed, we still didn't get the right one. The one upshot is the poor young lady answering the phone was very, very nice and apologetic. While we have always loved Papa Johns, today's order was sub par. We ordered the family special that was a large specialty pizza and large 2 topping and 2 orders of wings. The pizza itself has too much sauce and was undercooked. As soon as you lifted a slice, everything rolled off. The wings were the size of my pinky and barely had any sauce but a spot here or there with maybe a tablespoon or so of sauce in the packaging. The best thing about our dinner was the garlic sauce. No amount could've made my pizza any better, but because of it i gave a 1 star rating. I would not give Papa Johns any stars but in order to write this I had to give them 1 star, when they should recieve a negative number! I spent $33.00 dollars on two pizza that I threw in the trash!!! First of all when I walked I the store there was a group of 6 employees hanging out at the front counter. It made the situation uncomfortable and very non welcoming. Some reach over several of the group and shoved the two boxes onto the counter. All the way home a smelled this fowl smell. When I opened the boxes something just reeked a fowl oder. No one wanted to eat it. Most tasted it s spit it out! I think the meat was rancid!!! I ordered the thin & crispy crust... there's was nothing crispy about it, even after heating it in the oven. The crust might have been the rancid item we were not sure. It appeared old and had a yellowish coloring to it. At any rate we threw it all back in the box and threw it in the trash can. Horrible, horrible horrible. Used this place to order one of their NFL specials "8 toppings". Ordered online and picked up on the way home. Out of the 8 toppings I requested on the pizza, there were about 5 and those were slim pickings. I counted about 3 pieces of chicken on the ENTIRE large pizza! The pepperoni was about 2 pieces per slice, and the olives and mushroom were almost nonexistent. I ordered from here about 2 years ago with a bad experience, and decided to give them another try considering this deal. After eating, started feeling nauseous not long after and still feeling bad this morning. Not sure what is going on with this Papa John's, but they need a huge overhaul in workers and management. I'm surprised this store only has two stars. We live in Fort Washington in a hard to find cul de sac, yet we have had excellent service on four separate occasions. The pizza is always fresh and hot and I am impressed with how quickly the delivery team makes it over to us. The estimated delivery window is usually 40-50 minutes, but we've received our pizza in less than 30 minutes each time-- including tonight... a Friday night. Now I'm a generous tipper, but the same is true as to my respect for other local chains and none has delivered (no pun intended!) like this Papa John's has. Highly recommend! read more

I went to this papa johns to place a carry out order. I should have walked away when I witnessed one of the cooks with no uniform take an order of chicken strips off the cooking belt, handle the food with no gloves and take one to eat! As he looks up he noticed I was watching him so he tried to slowly hide the piece of chicken!!! I shook my head and was thinking what other orders does he or the staff pick over before sending it out to the customers? I was hungry so I continue to place my order and went outside to wait in my car. I got my pizza fairly quick 15 minutes top, but when I got home which was less than 5 minutes I was surprised to have an uncooked wet a$$ pizza! This place was not very sanitized and the quality of service and food is terrible! This is not my first time experiencing very low quality food from this particular store but it will be my last time!!! I will be calling Papa John's corporate office ASAP to inform them of the pathetic quality of the food in this establishment! Ordered a medium pepperoni and sausage, and medium beef and bacon pizzas. There may have been two pieces of meat on both pizzas! The delivery guy showed up with a passenger, and proceeded to pull the pizzas out of his trunk, no warmer bag, nothing. God only knows what could have been in his trunk! Just hoping that the two pieces of meat that were on the pizzas were actually meat! If you want to be completely disappointed proceed with ordering from this establishment. The standards here lead me to believe that this is a rogue faction, operating outside of the Papa John's franchise purview. read more
