Came for dinner after a day at the hot springs. We ordered a large Hawaiian pizza and asked if we could substitute pepperoni for the Canadian bacon. We were charged for an additional topping (pepperoni) and then they eliminated the Canadian bacon for free. I wish they would have told me about the extra charge because I may have not made it. The large pizzas were $2 off but we didn't get that discount...so remember to ask before paying. The pizza was just Ok. Everything is out of a can or box...nothing original. Cheap ingredients made for just a barely Ok pizza. The salad was head lettuce with 2 chopped pepperonis and a sprinkle of olives and cheese. Again, not worth the price. The gal ringing us up didn't know how to add a combo meal or how to give up the advertised discount. She never looked at us, made friendly eye contact, nor greeted us warmly....she looked like a deer in the headlights. I understand just starting out, but much more training is needed. Still the best pizza sub I've ever had! But it has slid a little down hill since a change in ownership. This establishment used to be owned by the Kelsey family that lived in the town of Wendell. At that time I probably would have given this restaurant four or five stars. Their pizza was never the best but it was always passable or good. But there subs were where definitely where the money was! They had the best subs which was due in no small part to the fact they made their own bread. Their pizza sub was (still is) hands down the best I've ever had and I have had a lot since this sub has led me to order a pizza sub anytime I see one on a menu. With the previous owners the establishment was always very clean and neat and the staff was always very friendly and presentable. It was a great, locally owned family business that was not only run well but had a great product. Some years ago (2004 I think) the Kelsey family that owned this particular restaurant moved out of town. They were trying to sell the restaurant but there were whispers that it may close all together. Which anyone who lives in Wendell would tell you that wouldn't be any good. But someone bought the establishment from them (to be fair I do not know who) and the restaurant was going to stay in business. Well ever so slowly over the years the restaurant has slid a little bit in the down hill direction. They still make their own bread and as I've said multiple times the pizza sub is still the best I've ever had but overall the experience itself is a bit lacking. The pizzas aren't as good as they were, and the restaurant itself is not as clean or neat as it used to be. Also, the staff doesn't always seem to be as presentable as the staff was under the Kelsey's. They are always nice and helpful (it is a small town) but there doesn't seem to be any dress code and they don't seem to care much about their appearance. The new ownership just doesn't seem to care about the overall restaurant as much as the Kelseys seemed to. Maybe its because it isn't their name on the door or isn't their family franchise. The overall quality has just dipped ever so slightly. But who cares?! I will still eat a Papa Kelseys pizza sub everytime I'm in town. It's still good, reliable food and if you aren't familiar with the way it was then you won't even know what you're missing. I struggled writing this review and toyed with whether or not I should give them four stars. I actually think that I was leaning a bit more in the four star direction but I think that sentimentality played a key role in that. I may change my mind, I don't know. I'm just trying to be as objective as possible. Here's the truth, I would recommend Kelsey's to anyone. If you haven't eaten there, go and try their pizza sub. Side note - its ridiculous (and always has been) that they aren't open on Mondays. read more

I always loved papa Kelsey's, but the one in Wendell is way subpar. What looked to be a 3 year old was running around the kitchen playing with the cups that go to the customers because an employee brought him to work. Our order was messed up. the service and the fact that a 3 year old was running around the kitchen getting into things was very unprofessional. 20$ for them to answer the phone "hold please" waited 6 minutes for them to pick phone back up only to give me stale/soggy fries and a sandwich covered in rain. The delivery person was also covered in rain as if she was standing in it conversing with my food. This experience reminded me of the prior one when I decided to never do business with them again. Absolutely disgusting. The cheese was raw and they put too much cheese I ordered a pepperoni pizza and got two pieces of pepperoni. Horrible service the lady there toke and my money and threw me my pizza. No hellos or nothing. I've now been stuck on the toilet for more than an hour. read more

Pizza came out super fast! Like less than 5 minutes. Almost as soon as it was set on the table you could tell it was cold! Not like under cooked, but I am 100% positive they served us a left over re-heated pizza. read more

There's something for everyone here, from light and healthy to fully loaded, with big portions, very reasonable pricing, and made fresh (and fast!) They even have gluten free options! This place was surprisingly good! We were on a road trip and called ahead to order, not knowing what to expect. We got there 10 minutes later and weren't sure if we were at the right place because it was an odd looking building. Don't be deceived by the appearance of the building! It is surprisingly roomy inside with cute decor. And most importantly, the pizza was delicious! I was surprised how fast the pizza was ready for us after ordering, and it was legit - real ingredients and great flavor. We loved the chicken bacon ranch pizza! I would stop in there again on my next trip through Idaho. read more

We went here out of a whim and tried their hot sandwiches, it was really surprising how good it was. Their sandwiches seemed to be made on homemade bread, they were well balanced and full of flavor. I'm glad I live near it. read more
