Hidden gem for fresh local trout! Hagerman is known for their fishery from the fresh spring water flowing into the Snake River. We would had never found this place if not for Fish Breeders of Idaho (amazing prices on fresh fish and caviar)! Idaho Fish N' Chips - Excellent!!! Nice crispy breading and super moist fresh rainbow trout. Get this! Captains Platter - The shrimp and calamari were the winners on the plate. The cod and catfish were a little over cooked with some pieces slightly fishy but still edible. Great fresh cut skin on fries though! Service was a bit lacking - the waitress was inattentive and unavailable despite the restaurant being empty but was super kind and friendly. The owner put together a great menu (the kids menu had me rolling! So hilarious) and I'm sure it's tough finding good help in a tiny town. And the pre-inflation prices were a nice surprise. We came around 7:30 for dinner and found a seat and got menus right away. My wife got prime rib that was moist tender. And delicious. I got the unbreaded finger steaks, they give you a huge portion and they are really good. Both meals come with a salad that's nothing special, also the come with there homemade green beans and backed jacketless loaded potato. My daughter had chicken strips and hand cut fries. Everything was seasoned very well Everything was great and service was good for only one waitress. She was on point and friendly. Food cost was cheap at $65 with 20% tip. You will not be disappointed if you chose to dine here! Everything was AMAZING from the customer service to the delicious food. Great atmosphere too! My hubby and I started with the hot artichoke crab dip then we ordered the Idaho Trout and the Rodeo Burger. The fish was incredible and the so was the burger. The ranch and fry sauce were perfect for dipping the hand cut fries and the side winder curly fries. The service was top notch! Thank you! We ordered some to go food. They told us 20 minutes on the phone, but when we got there, they said it would be another 30 minutes. That's okay, since we could see they were short-handed, but when we got home, we saw they didn't give us any blue cheese dressing (or any dressing whatsoever) for the full cob salad we ordered. We wanted trout since this area is known for its hatcheries and boy, we weren't disappointed! The huge portions were amazing and so delicious. We stopped by the Riverboat on a day trip. Great food and friendly services!!! We had the trout lemon pepper.

It isn't much to look at. The actual dining room feels very much like a diner. The other eating area is the lounge and it's very bar centric. We sat in both areas. It took a very long time to get our food, but our waitress was sweet as could be. My steak was delicious and my husband's Italian nachos was delicious as well. We would go back :-) read more

The best "fish and chips" I've ever had (and I typically get the local fish and chips when I travel. It was like if your grandpa had just caught it, and your grandma fried it up and put it right on your plate. The trout so fresh, a huge portion, and had the best crunchy crispy cornmeal breading. The others in my party also enjoyed their food. There was a bit of a wait, I think because they are understaffed (as everyone is!) but it was worth it and it seemed like a place that really cared about making good food. read more

The food & service in the restaurant is great! The problem is the bartenders. They never fill the drink up, rude & inattentive & always irritated that they have to serve you in the first place! If you are going to sell drinks - at least fill your teeny tiny glasses before serving the drink! I'm not wasting any more time or money on this place even though the food is great. Clean restaurant and rest rooms. I had the Ranch burger; great; French fries were great; salad bar was minimal, but everything was fresh. My wife had the fish and chips; fish was poor to fair; some parts were inedible. Service was excellent; friendly waitstaff and checked in on us often. What would I do to improve the experience? Enlarge the salad bar (add fresh spinach, green olives, onions), and if fish is going to be on the menu; make it fresh fish or make it seasonal so you can offer fresh fish. Will we go back? What a joyous experience. I was in need of a meal so badly and when those glistening onion rings and golden trout fillet was put before me, I was giddy. Giddy with more excitement than I have felt in ages. The food was served speedily and the service was immaculate. Place was clean as well. One of the BEST burgers and home made fries in all of Idaho. I should know. I have eaten at many, many places. It is called "The Rodeo Burger"! So let me start off by saying that if you are coming with a family, call in advance or you will sit in the back with no light which was very depressing. The table was very dirty & sticky. I had to order three different times because they had none of the food supplies needed for the meal. For example: Italian nachos had no chips, the Alfredo shrimp had no pasta, the steak & cheese wrap had no sirloin steak so I got stuck with the classic bacon cheeseburger. Unfortunately, the waitress seemed annoyed with our presence, menus were dirty (like actual dirt all over the back), we waited almost 30 minutes for our food, I saw the waitress drop my cup on the floor but refill it anyway, and the trout breading was burnt. On the plus side, my shrimp basket was perfect, I liked the music selection, they were competitively priced, and the outdoor seating option was a plus. My first time going here will also be my last. As we got our menus, me and my wife weren't welcomed like many other restaurants out there, almost like the waitress didn't want us here. While we were waiting later on, one waitress made a mess on the floor(a couple of fires) as she was cleaning a table and didn't care to pick it up from the floor for 5-10 mins. I also didn't have my water refilled until a few mins after i got my food. The food was really displeasing. It tasted like reheated leftovers, i also didn't get any napkins for my meal(which was very messy). What's worst of all of this was i did get sick later in the day which pretty much ruined my plans. I checked out a few other restaurants in town first, and it seemed like everything here was going to be either a tourist trap or a dive. From the parking lot, the River Boat looked like it could go either way. Inside, the decor was dive-y but the menu was middle of the road. Screw it, I figured, I'm hungry and tired of driving around. It turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Despite a run-down building and a menu heavy on bar foods, dinner was pretty tasty. I got the captain's platter with a variety of seafood.
