Moving back to central California, I miss my Papa Murphy's Pizza. I have to constantly remind myself that, even when I was living in Orange County, I still had to drive about 30 mins to get Papa Murphy's Pizza. It didn't seem like a big deal back then because everything in that area was 30 mins away. It just seems longer now that I am back to my small town, but maybe I should make the trip up to Santa Maria for my beloved pizza, more often. I just happened to be passing through the area for another errand so I decided to grab a few pizzas. Everything was fine, but I simply want to note that out of the three pizzas I ordered, one of them was requested to have non-dairy cheese for my elderly mother who can no longer tolerate dairy in her old age. I foolishly ordered a pizza with a dairy type sauce, but the thoughtful and considerate employees at this establishment noticed the dietary contradiction and waited for the pick up to confirm before completing the pizza. Most people these days would just make it and forget about it, but these employees decided to help me out and THANK YOU SO MUCH that you did. I am not used to this level of thoughtfulness. I tipped them my cash on hand, but I feel people need to know that good and responsible people are still trudging away out there and taking time out of their day to provide the experience they recognize their customers want. That's pretty rare. I'll definitely make the trip for my Papa Murphy's Pizza in Santa Maria. Especially with these considerate people making it for me. Thank you. read more

It's good to have a take n bake pizza place. I remember when this same location was called Jake's take & bake. There's pros and cons to getting take n bake. Pros: fresh ingredients with a fresh awesome out of the oven taste. Con is that after a couple mins when getting cold, the dough gets rubbery& chewy. Things to know when ordering online...they allow you to order & pay for items they don't have available. When you arrive to pick up your dinner (pizza & a salad) THEN they tell you they don't have it. I found out that they make the salads in-house but they only make a few a day & when they're gone...oh, well. We have been enjoying Papa Murphy's pizza since 1998. Lately we have noticed a significant decline in quality and consistency at our regular stores in Utah. So much in fact we have chosen other options. Recently we ordered a pizza from the Papa Murphy's on Broadway in Santa Maria Ca. We were blown away! It was absolutely one of the most perfect pizzas we have ever had. It was TV commercial quality! Thinking this might be a one off we have ordered additional pizzas. Every one is consistently the same and of top quality. The owner/manager is a pleasure to deal with. She is the icing on the cake! If Papa Murphy's corporate is paying attention to these posts, they should send this individual to their Utah stores to train and educate their employees! read more

I order weekly and new owners took over several months I always get Gourmet vegetarian and add chicken, garlic and extra sauce. So two weeks ago I arrive to pick up pizza after placing order online and was told at pickup they were out of chicken, Last week they forgot all the veggies And today when I picked up I was informed they were out of zucchini and it appears they used a thin crust when I ordered regular crust. It's Halloween, they serve cheap Halloween pizzas, and Santa Maria loves cheap stuff. All this collided today when I went there, during rush hour, while days get shorter, and children wait (many of them, anyway) for things to get dark before heading out to scavenge for candy. Yes. Everyone wants a home-baked pizza shaped like a pumpkin, with pepperoni eyes and a sausage smile to fall into when the trick-or-treating commences. Great promotion. The way some of the adults treated these kids ( and exceptional manager who could have been my sweet mother) was actually disgusting. Maybe the kids these days "don't want to work" because they have to serve self-entitle boomer snobs like you with a smile. But there they were, behind the counter doing the best they could to calm down the few frothing fellows destroying the lobby mood. The Papa Murphy's crew in Santa Maria held it all together with poise. I saw so many frustrated customers acting with passion, knowing these workers were getting pulverized. It's the others I have a problem with. So good on you, Papa. But shame on you to the man-children acting in ways that make me feel embarrassed for your spouses and kids. I've been looking for a great Veggie Pizza here in town and I think I found it. I found that Papa Murphy's has the website and I proceeded with looking for a coupon via email, found one, then I was sent to papa's link, it wouldn't show the coupons authorized number. I thought I had to do troubleshooting which was a waste, then I tried via text, but no coupon authorization was sent. So I just back on the website and had to view the link via View page source. Then when ordering the pizza on the website using Chrome it kept asking me for select crust, and I couldn't get past it, I tried using Explorer and Edge and finally got it going, not sure how I got past it because I was getting frustrated. So I ordered the Rustic Veggie and the Hawaiian. The website gave me the details, I got the email reference and picked up the pizzas. Customer service is good, they asked my name, I told them what I was picking up and handed me the pizzas on the exact time it said it was ready. I followed instructions on the label and found that this is the best Veggie Pizza locally even though I have to bake it. The Hawaiian is okay but not the best. I went ahead to download the app and tested the app and I love it. It has the history of my last order, so next time I order I will be using this app. Next time I order the Rustic I'm planning on using my Traeger to bake it. I don't love pizza - but I love Papa Murphy's in Santa Maria! My husband loves pizza, and he really loves the calzones. I pick up one for him almost every Friday; he is always happy, and so am I, since I don't have to cook. And I love going into the store. The manager, Mavi, is amazing! She treats customers like family, and is always so upbeat and positive! A lot of the employees are young and she treats them with respect and encourages them to do their absolute best. The store is always spotless, and well organized. And the pizza is the best!! My husband hasn't found a restaurant pizza he enjoys as much as these, and they are sooooo easy to bake and serve!!! read more

Just went in 15 minutes before closing @7 worker then tells me they're not taking anymore orders only thing they have is salads. I then proceed to say well you have 15 minutes before closing they said very rudely well we have to close and clean if I'm not mistaken those chores are done after closing mind you everything was already out away such as meets cheeses etc. So disappointed I didn't get to get my family's favorite pizza tonight. read more

What a great concept of taking the premade pizza home and cooking it whenever you please. You can also customize the pizza by ordering half and half. The thick stuffed pizza was okay but I would definitely come back to get more of the signature pizza. read more

So apparently new owners and employees. I have given many chances but lately they always come up short. Last time I placed an order on line at 5 p.m. and it was supposed to be ready by 5:30 So I roll in to pick up at 6 and there were at least 15 or more un happy customers all asking what is going on. They were getting crushed with orders and they were short staffed. My wife always likes the Pan pizza which now they charge a lot more for on $12 Tuesday when they never used to plus they are always out of the Pan anyway. I give up. These are the best Pizza's period. I drive 40 miles from Los Osos to buy these pizzas. I so wish they had one of these closer to us. We buy at least 3 family sized pizzas and freeze 2 of them. They freeze perfectly. The staff is great, and we order online and they are ready for us when we get there. If you plan on freezing them the staff will gladly double wrap them for you so you can just stick them in your freezer. read more

Our great experience began when we called in our order on our way back from walking on Pismo Beach. A courteous gentleman took our order and gave us great detailed information on the various crusts they offer and the specials. We ordered a large 3 topping pizza and a garden salad with ranch. We arrived within 10 minutes and our order was ready! The establishment is very clean, updated, plus the menu and prices are well organized. BTW great prices too! As soon as we got home, I preheated the oven with easy to read directions. The crust was excellent and the toppings were super fresh. We can't hardly wait for our next pie visit!! read more

The staff here are some comedians as I was talking to a young lady Giselle she had mentioned to me how her diet is to only eat seafood and was shocking as I asked why she works here and she busted out many jokes. Which made my day better. Other than that my only complaint was that the pizza was raw and I didn't order it for myself. One of the employees mentioned they have an oven in the back and I asked whether they could bake it for me to give to the homeless man outside. That employee proceeded to tell me to back to my house and cook it myself. I was very much offended and didn't think that comment was called for. Best take and bake pizza place in Santa Maria, definitely a place I'd highly recommend trying as there are so many options for customization and there's something for everyone. My pizza pan was smoking. Even though I followed the instructions provided on the piece of paper, the pizza was overcooked and sticked to the plastic pan. The pan became brown and some of the pizza crust became burned and sticked to the pan. I am glad that my house didn't get burned down. The whole house smoke alarm was on. I didn't even turn it up to 425 degree as directed on the instructions. it was only at 405 f and there was smoke from the oven after 10 minutes. Also the server at the store wasn't friendly. Not so much of a review as it is a heads-up. Got an email from the new owners. Since I had written corporate about the horrible service and product months ago (and the place since closed down), the new owners extended an olive branch to try them again when they open up in the same storefront on August 30, 2011. I've had Papa Murphy's in several locations, and was usually always pleased with the experience. With new owners and crew, I hope this place moves back into my regular pizza rotation. Good luck! Will update after I've visited. **UPDATE Sept 2011** Actually ended up stopping by here on opening day. Things were a little chaotic, what with them trying to figure out the flow and process. But management/ownership was on site, and no hiccups. You could tell everyone was tense/anxious about the new venture, but from the customer side it was fine. Pizzas were great. I am a total regular here, since my children are quite addicted. I didn't have a problem with the old staff? But, the new staff is really quite awesome! I call ahead, they get my order right 98% of the time, sorry central coast, but, your pizza places screw up my orders over 50% or more of the time?? making me CRAZY! I haven't put my finger on why yet? This place is great though, I usually order 3 or more pizza's at a time, They freeze really well, ask for double wrapping. Came in today to try out their newest addition to their great pizzas! This is the rustic veggie. Perfect for lent! It's light on the sauces since it has their olive oil and garlic sauce on the bottom and a swirl of traditional red on the top. It has my favorite combination of veggies and feta cheese! They also told me I could modify it if I don't like exactly what it comes with. Soooo good!!! read more
