Disappointing experience at Papa Pete's We chose Papa Pete's tonight for a sentimental reason--my husband loved coming here as a kid and had his birthday party here every year. Because of that, we were really looking forward to bringing our family and expected, at the very least, friendly and professional customer service. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing from start to finish. The employee who took our order was incredibly rude. First she asked me to hold on a second when I was ordering but didn't say it loud enough for anyone to hear. Also she slammed the receipt down in front of us and then snatched it out of my hand, which felt completely unnecessary and unprofessional. The restaurant itself also left a lot to be desired. The women's bathroom was very dirty, and the front area of the restaurant was freezing. Then, despite ordering a very small amount of food, we waited 1 hour and 7 minutes for our order. When our food finally came out, the salad I ordered was also incorrect. I understand that restaurants can have busy nights, and I'm always willing to be patient when there's a delay. What made this experience especially frustrating was that there were multiple issues--the poor customer service, cleanliness, uncomfortable temperature, extremely long wait, and an incorrect order. This was supposed to be a nostalgic, special experience for my husband because of the memories he has of coming here as a kid. Unfortunately, instead of creating a new positive family memory, we left feeling disappointed. On a positive note they did give us 2 extra breadsticks and a one liter for free of charge for our time and the inconvenience. The pizza my husband ordered was exactly how he wanted and remembered it as a kid... Yet I am still left wondering why they didn't have their stuff together for the beginning? Only reason I can come up with is that every person working there was a teenager the lead if that's what she was might have been 20 maybe..? I really hope management takes this feedback seriously. A restaurant with that much sentimental value to longtime customers should be doing better, especially when it comes to basic customer service and cleanliness. read more

Let's start by saying that I don't generally leave many low reviews. However, this isn't the first time I've had an issue at this location. It had been a while since I'd been back. The previous time, they also messed up my order, but I didn't leave a review because mistakes happen, and I try to give people the benefit of the doubt in a lot of situations. This time, though, I was about 30 minutes away from the location on my way home from a backpacking trip. I was tired, exhausted, and definitely not in the mood to cook dinner, so we thought, "Hey, maybe we'll grab a pizza on the way home." I called ahead, and they asked to put me on hold. No problem--I said I could wait. They mentioned it would be a brief hold. I ended up waiting about 15 minutes. The phone was eventually picked up, I could hear some background noise, and then the call clicked and they hung up on me. At that point, I wasn't exactly in the most patient mood. We still decided to stop by the location and order in person. When we walked inside, there were almost no guests and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. I explained what had happened, but unfortunately, the response I received wasn't particularly friendly or apologetic either. I understand that mistakes happen, and I'm usually pretty forgiving about them. But when there's a pattern of issues and the customer service doesn't improve, it's worth sharing the experience. The Pizza here is amazing. I was introduced to this place 2 years ago on a road trip to the beach. I often will stop in for pizza to go I. My drive between Washington and Oregon. I highly recommend the Garlic Chicken Pizza! Sooooo yummy. Restaurant is huge and accommodating to large groups with a game room for kids of all ages. Everything is clean and tidy. This place used to be absolutely amazing, to the point we ordered weekly and would come and play the arcade games while we wait. It was super convenient because I'm allergic to dairy and their gluten free crust used to be dairy free. Today after ordering after we made the drive down we get a call saying they changed their crust and their gluten free crust now has cheese in it. What a silly thing to change. Unfortunately we will no longer be customers. Hopefully they post an update so future customers don't have unexpected issues. read more

First of all you can't get a pizza in there for less than 50 bucks, the place will be empty but it still takes them an hour to cook your pizza. No matter what you say about the crust, whether you want it thick or not cooked as long, anything no matter what it comes olongurnt thin crust pizza. Let me start with the pizza is delicious! There is no need to order extra cheese and tons of toppings. So good, the best I've had in many years. We were one of two tables, but the wait was going to be 30 minutes. Hmmm? Well, they were very busy, but everyone else was getting their pizzas to go. I purchased med combination pizza from Castle Rock Saturday 14th. I could have eaten the cardboard takeout box,and had a better meal, than what I received as a pizza . Tried to call in an order for 4 pizzas for a total of $160. Was told if I order 4 pizza they won't make them until I pay in store. Mind you they can't take payment over the phone. It's 2025 who doesn't take payments over the phone or let you order online. So anyway I just ordered 3 pizzas so I wouldn't have to wait in the restaurant for 30 minutes for my pizza. Than my son decided he was going to order one. So I drove there asked for both of our orders. Paid for both of them. $160. Then the manager proceeds to come out and scold me for putting in two separate orders. Was told there will be restrictions put on both of our accounts that all future orders will have to be paid for before the make the pizzas. That is absolutely ridiculous to be scolded after just giving them $160 for my order. Also ordered the breadsticks. They were store bought breadsticks just like you get from Olive Garden except they had zero flavor. I like the pizza but will never set foot in the place again. There is plenty of parking and space to spread out inside. You order by phone or at the counter. Here is the loss of the 5th star: their staff needs better customer service training. I have never, ever had great customer service here. Yes - it's adequate. But I never walk away saying "boy were they nice". The pizza is a pretty specific type. It's that thin, cornmeal, crispy crust with toppings all the way to the edge. I love it. I think their sauce is tasty. Their cheese could be improved a bit, but their other toppings are fresh and good. If you don't like thin, crispy crust, you won't like this pizza. The pizza isn't bad but the prices keep going up and up to the point that it isn't worth the money. We have had a few mixups with our last few orders that were probably due to staffing. There is pizza close by that is just as good, if not better, and it won't cost near as much. This has always been the place to go but the experience makes the food repulsive. I don't think they will be in business much longer if the price hikes continue. Lots of games for the kids and makes for a great place for a birthday party. Papa Pete's offer zero waiter service and zero smiles. Indoors is probably a heaven for the local residents with kids. The back area offers a large play room of sorts. Prices seemed a bit steep to me. Beer and wine are available (limit 2 per person). I ordered a large pitcher of Coors Light for $12.05. For starters, my wife and I shared a Dinner Salad for $5.50: lettuce, Parmesan cheese, tomato slices, black olive, salami and pepperoni. I wasn't impressed that our salad was served on a paper plate and that I was given a plastic fork to eat it with. The salad was tasty. My wife ordered a mini/personal sized Sausage Pizza for $8.99. She enjoyed her choice. I ordered a mini/personal sized Vegetarian Pizza for $10.45: black olives, mushrooms, onions, green peppers and tomatoes. I too enjoyed my pizza choice. Overall, Papa Pete's is a good place to dine at if you have little ones. If we're in town again, I will pick-up my order and eat it at our lodging rather than in the restaurant. read more

Stumbled upon this place on accident. It was almost 9pm and we were starving! We got tired of eating burgers during our road trip so when we saw this place off the freeway we decided to try it. We walked in thinking they close at 930 but one the employees told us they close at 9, they close later in the summer. While visiting Castle Rock last week we ended up having pizza from here twice. My husband and his step-sister hollered "Taco Pizza" and did a dance of joy in anticipation before we picked it up. I was scared to death they were going to get some on the carpet and she would kill them. The "best taco pizza in the world" is on a cracker thin crust with ground beef that was cold, a mound of shredded lettuce and an overkill amount of cold shredded orange cheese, and sliced tomatoes on top. There may have been a small amount of sauce on the crust but I could not tell for sure. This "fantastic pizza" that made them dance was $39 I will close by saying" Pizza crust :75 cents, ground beef topping: $2.50, bag of shredded lettuce: $1.79; Bag of shredded cheese: $2.50; sliced tomato: $1.80 Paying $39 dollars twice to see my husband do a happy dance: PRICELESS. Why isn't the thin, cornmeal crust a bigger hit? Boggles my mind...I would totally marry it! I have been a fan of this type of pizza and Papa Petes since day one. The crust is such a great texture to bite into, the little bowl shaped pepperoni save all the juices, and the fresh veggies on top help cut the salt. The only thing better than this combo, is the combo style pizza. I never knew how much I liked this pizza until I moved to Seattle and couldn't find anything to fill this craving. Everytime I visit I have two things on my mind, mom's cooking and a to go combo for the way home. This pizza is absolutely amazing fresh and straight out of the fridge, better than any Pizza Hut, Dominos, or Papa Johns. I rarely dine in at any of the locations, so I don't have much to say about that. The only thing that keeps me from giving a 5 star review is sauce and price. I feel like they are a little stingy on the amount of sauce they give. I get that the don't want the crust to get soggy, but sometimes the sauce isn't even detectable. And the price...it's kinda high. I make a comfortable living and I still feel a little sting when I order a family sized pizza. For the same amount of money you could almost buy 100 Dominos pizzas!
