I ordered the pancit, lumpia and sisig tacos on my first stop in. I loved that the tacos had fresh jalapeno on them, as they added a nice crunch and heat to the taco. It was definitely a dish I'd consider ordering again. The lumpia didn't hit my "favorite" list- but it does hit the "like" list at least! I think the large corn kernels/peas just through me off a bit being that they were most prominent. So I made an order over the phone, no issues with that. food was ready at the time it was promised. Parking is difficult since its a small parking lot shared with many other businesses and high traffic. The restaurant is pretty small, not a lot of indoor seating. When we arrived the staff greeted us and the food was ready. Went to the car and try the food while it was still fresh and we were pretty disappointed. Ordered sinigan and it did not taste like sinigan at all. Tasted like it had old pork ribs and the broth had no sour component at all. They give you a big pile of fries, but barely enough urb sauce or sisig to go with it, so you end up eating mostly plain fries. We were stopping by on the way down to SoCal when we decided to stop by Tracy to try out this Filipino establishment that is supposedly known for their lechon. It is a small establishment but we were able to sit down and get a quick lunch in before getting back on the road. We got a lechon kawali over rice w/ egg and a sisig fries. The lechon was not super fatty (a good thing) and the sisig fries with grilled veggies over fries was suprisingly good, especially the sauce that they had for it. This was a small Filipino food restaurant. The food was pretty good. The service was great and the food came out in a reasonable time. The lumpia was kind of skinny and it seemed like they didn't know of some of the dishes we have in Hawaii. The one disappointment was the Halo Halo. I am so used to Magnolia ice cream Halo Halo that this one was not even in the same ballpark. Hello, I was in the area and looking for a good bite to eat. I stumbled across this place as a good option. Upon arrival, I had a little trouble finding parking. There's multiple businesses there so parking is limited even with In-N-Out being next door, doesn't help much. Once I entered, I noticed it's a pretty tiny spot. Not ideal for groups. There's about 3 tables inside where each can hold 4 people, so max is 12 people. Their menu did include a lot of traditional Filipino food from pancit, chicken adobo, sisig, lumpia's and more. We've been fans of Papa Urb's for a while--food is consistently great, which is why we were excited to stop by after a long day of work in Livermore. We arrived at 5:39 PM, well before their posted closing time of 6:00 PM. When we placed our order, the cashier said it would take about 10 minutes, which was totally fine. At 5:50 PM, once our food was ready, the cashier asked if we wanted it to-go or to dine in. We chose to dine in, thinking we had time to enjoy our meal. Not even 10 minutes later, while we were still eating, the same cashier came over and said, "Sorry, it's 6 PM--we have to close up. You can't eat here anymore." Honestly, I was shocked. Why even offer the dine-in option if we were just going to be kicked out moments later? If we had been told, "Just a heads-up, we close at 6 and you'll need to leave by then," we would've totally understood and taken our food to-go. But there was no warning--just an awkward interruption while we were in the middle of our meal. We ended up finishing our food in our car parked across the street, which was definitely not the relaxing dinner we had in mind. What's even more confusing is that we were here about a month ago, ordered at the same time, and the male cashier working then allowed us to dine in and didn't rush us out after closing. So the experience was inconsistent and left a bad taste in our mouths--not from the food, but from the customer service. If the policy is to close at 6 PM sharp and have all dine-in customers out by then, maybe consider updating the posted hours to 5:30 PM to avoid situations like this. Or at least give a clear heads-up when asking customers if they want to dine in so we can make an informed choice. As much as we love the food, I don't think we'll be coming back. It's hard to enjoy a meal when you feel rushed and unwelcome. read more

It's been awhile since I've eaten here and I'm happy to report that the food is still delicious! The sisig fries are still my favorite thing to order. I've noticed they added crispy sweet potato on top. The fries are thin and crispy and the sisig is juicy. And all the sauces plus the sweet potato make it a well-composed dish that's full of flavor. The sisig empanadas were pretty good! The dough was bread-y, in a good way, because it wasn't too thick. And it was stuffed with sisig. I liked the bit of heat from their hot sauce, which I think is sriracha. One order comes with 2 empanadas that are cut in half. It's definitely a shareable item. We also got the pancit, to my surprise also comes with lumpia. I like the mix of egg and glass noodles. It had a lot of veggies so this is a good way to eat your veggies lol. We also got lychee calamansi refresher, which was refreshing even on a mild winter day. There's not much seating inside, probably around 6 seats total. But it seems most people order online for pick up. We did dine in and got our food pretty quickly. And service was great! They made sure we were well taken care of. I'm so glad Papa Urb's has survived the pandemic. It's one of the few unique restaurants in Tracy. They're also right off the freeway so it's easy to get to if you're on a road trip. Though, parking there is horrendous. It's next to In n Out, so it can get really crowded, especially since it's a narrow driveway. And the McDonald's construction doesn't help either. Was looking for a unique eat while in the Tracy area. Though I wasn't able to try more items on the menu, the sisig fries and lumpia were delish! Sisig fries: I ordered the sauce on the side. The cashier asked me 3 times, THREE times if I wanted to purchase extra sauce. I should've listened. Urb's aioli is the bomb! I could drink it. Sisig was tender and flavorful. Sweet potato slivers added a nice color. Fries were perfect. Not too thick, did not over power the Sisig or sauce. 2 thumbs up on this! Lumpia: got the pork. Good and basic. Next time I will try the other ones. We came 30 mins before closing (5:30) cashier was prob tired and ready to go home - not very friendly and grumpy. We have dined here a handful of times through the years and were excited to order their well-loved sisig fries once again. We also ordered the tocini wrap and pork belly adobo. The sisig fries were just as scrumptious as we remembered. It's a large portion of fries with some yummy protein, a couple sliced yam chips and special urb sauce on top. My tocino wrap was truly delicious. It is filled with a lot of protein, cabbage, cucumber, and tomato all rolled up in a spinach tortilla. I had to take half home. My husband's plate was not what he ordered. The second item on their menu is pork belly adobo but his plate came with chicken. We were perplexed so we asked the lady at the counter and she said they don't serve pork belly adobo (odd, because it's on the menu). My husband had his heart set on pork belly so he ordered a side of BBQ pork belly. It was a good serving of little pork chunks but the texture was a little tough. My husband liked it better on the second day. There always seems to be a steady flow of people coming through this little place. Their food is quite delicious. Sisig here should be prescribed by a doctor. Health benefits for me... elevates happiness. After having their sisig tacos and their sisig fries, we concluded that you can't go wrong with sisig anything on their menu. You can't get enough of those pieces of char-grilled goodness! Speaking of that pork goodness, their Pork Belly over rice dish was also a force to be reckoned with. The tender pieces of fatty pork- with some crispy sections paired well with the red onion toppings. In fact, one of the best bites I've had was in this dish, scooping everything (Pork-rice-egg-red onion-all purpose sauce) all balanced on one big spoon, all in one bite. It's like an orchestra was playing in my mouth. Their Tocino Wrap was unexpectedly large, perfect for sharing. It's basically a salad in a spinach wrap with large pieces of sweet-seasoned pork shoulder. The refreshing chipotle dressing was a highlight for me. The Adobo quesadilla was interesting in a good way. It took me a minute to accept the Adobo taste with cheese. Their authentic Dinuguan dish was yummy and plentiful. Having previously lived just a few blocks away from here, it's one of my go-to's when traveling thru Tracy, don't be fooled by "In and Out", Papa Urb's is the star of this shopping center. Every time we make the 40 min drive home we end up finding our food is missing an item or is incorrect. Maybe it was two days of Thanksgiving food but the Tapas was OMG yummy, I was eating like it was my last meal and only slowed down after noticing folks at In & Out watching me! Luckily it was enough to share, you get two scoops of rice, salad, fried egg and marinated tender pieces of beef with onions. Sisig fries were very hearty with lots of grilled meat that is more mild flavored. What makes the dish is the sauce, glad I got an extra sauce and added vinegar. The crispy sweat potato topping is pretty but didn't add to the dish. I ended up removing them and eating them separately. Food is a 5 but the place is only a walk up counter with only a couple of tables outside so not convenient if you're passing through. Staff was friendly but I let the person at the counter know I was sitting outside at the tables, waited a while and went in to find my food in a bag waiting?! Place is small as in 2 yards from the counter to the front door and there were several folks working, guess I should've confirmed they would bring the food to me instead of assuming. They're very conveniently located just off of 205 on Tracy Blvd in the same parking lot as In-N-Out burger and Starbucks, which also makes it difficult to navigate around all the folks going through drive-through for both locations. But it was worth nearly being sideswiped by a group of teenagers in a Hyundai desperate to get in front of me to wait in drive through for In & Out. read more

I've been a longtime fan of Papa Urb's and it's probably one of the best parts about living in Tracy. I called in to order 4 of their Sisig Fries (and a size of their sauce, extra $0.25) which I've probably had over a dozen times. I always prefer calling ahead of time since it makes my visit a lot quicker. The estimate they provided was about 10 minutes and it was ready by the time I got there! The parking lot is small and crowded, mostly because of the In-N-Out across from it, but it's usually never a problem finding a spot. My last few visits, I've gotten a bit underwhelmed unfortunately on how their food has been. This time around, I realized the toppings that usually come on top of the fries (cilantro and yam I believe) were missing from all of the fries I had ordered. The fries aren't as crispy as they used to be anymore either. Nonetheless, their food is pretty good and they have a wide variety of traditional/fusion Filipino dishes on their menu. The few times I drive towards Tracy, look forward to getting Filipino food. I still have to find a decent place to satisfy my craving. So I went this Saturday and was quite disappointed. Ordered the following: Bistek with rice- 3 stars: meat was ok but hardly any onions and the rice was cooked with too much water. Turon- 1 star: the banana used was terrible. I tried one and had to throw out the rest. You guys need to taste the banana you use. Pansit- 2 stars: the flavor was bland and barely any meat or vegetable. Vegetable put it in we're not cut properly. Halo halo- 2 stars: aside from the ice cream and shaved ice- none of the usual stuff just gelatin and barely any beans.
