I was expecting a lot more due to all the hyped up reviews. The service was ok and the food came out quick. My eggs were cooked right (over medium). The pancakes weren't that good. My "home fries" were terrible. They were cold. (I don't mean room temp, I mean like they came out of the fridge.) In fact, it appeared that they forgot to fry them at all. It was like boiled potatoes diced up with the raw onions and bell peppers and then just got put on my plate. I've been here lots of times... Its a great little spot, its very affordable. The servers are always nice and don't change much which is a good thing... Finding a seat can be tricky you have to stand next to a table and just wait for them to clean it off for you, it can be a real pain because sometimes people don't like to wait their turn...SMH. The Saturday and Sunday breakfast specials are great when on a budget. For $3.99 you can get a ham steak, eggs, potatoes and your choice of toast or biscuits....What a deal! Great little diner just like from my small town back home. Feels like family with lots of locals. Everyone is friendly - mine and my son's food was actually paid for by "an angel" on our first visit! Food is good with reasonable prices. Homemade biscuits are great! We're currently renovating our home and are without a kitchen so I've been back here multiple times this week! The same excellent service the second time around, only this time I got the two egg breakfast with 1 meat for a little under $6.50. It came with eggs, choice of potatoes or grits, meat and choice of a bread. I had my eggs scrambled, which came out really great. The hashbrowns were cooked to a nice crisp, the two sausage links were plump and tasty, and the english muffin was grilled and tasted like a fried butter sandwich. Arrived after the lunch crowd not many customer in the building but had to wait ten minutes before anyone approached with a menu. We ask for coffee and water which was brought to us with in 5 minutes. The coffee was actually very good however we requested a little more time to make our order and the waitress was missing in action for 15 minutes. Another waitress arrived to take our order who was very nice and apologized for the delay. The second waitress kindness made everything square. The breakfast arrived hot and quick after the order. I had the Veggie omelet with hashbrowns and whole wheat toast with a side of grits. My son had the meat lovers omelet with hashbrowns and biscuits. The food was not that bad but the reviews are correct you get what you pay for in the long run. I would have given them 4 stars except for two reasons. The first the place needs a serious cleaning and the bathrooms are horrible for the age of the building. The second reason sickness with in 2 hours after eating there. If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would. As a restaurant manager I get peak business times and having a rush...this was terrible. We had to wait for the table to be cleaned, then for the waitress. My dad had to get up and get our coffee refills. After a thirty-minute wait for our food we left. The waitress never touched the table after she took our orders. My dad asked a second waitress about our order and she never came back with any information. I was incredibly disappointed with the experience. Just went here with my husband. The place when you walk in is just tables scattered out throughout the place. It's a very mom and pop run kinda feel when you walk in. I ordered the country skillet it has chicken fried steak, home fries, scrambled egg and is covered with gravy served with a side of biscuits. I loved the gravy and potatoes. They eggs were a little too runny for my taste and the chicken fried steak wasn't a hit either. Their biscuits were delicious nice and flaky and buttery, just the at biscuits should be made and taste. I also ordered a glass of orange juice and it tasted like it had some dish soap left over in the cup and it wasn't fresh orange juice it tasted like it was sunny delight. My husband had two over easy eggs, hash browns and toast. He just had a water, which also had the taste of dish soap in it. His meal over all was really good. Today was the first time my family and I have been here. We chose to come on Friday because of their "all u can eat" catfish. I didn't really know what to expect, but the inside of the place wasn't anything exciting. It had an old timey feel to it. We weren't greeted when we first walked in, so we had no idea that we were just suppose to grab a seat anywhere. We had to walk to the counter to get told that. Our waitress was nice, and brought our things in a timely manner. The catfish was good, but that was about it. The mac n cheese had no flavor at all. The fruit was fresh, but some of the melons were to hard to eat. The hush puppies were a bit spicy, but I wasn't impressed by those either. They give u a pretty small container of coleslaw that tasted like coleslaw. The beans were alright. I may or may not go back to try other things. The food was awesome and it came out really nice and hot. Walking in, I thought it would be like an Ihop or a Denny's but the food was really good. The service wasn't that great on this particular night so it was a little bit disappointing. I asked for a drink and the waitress forgot until I was about to leave and she added it to my bill so I just asked for it to-go. Maybe I just had a bad waitress because she made quite a few mistakes. Tried this place twice, shouldn't have gone back to give it a second try but with anything local I feel bad not to. Cheap cheap cheap! Yes, the prices are low but you get what you pay for. Breakfast is better anywhere else. Small sad French toast, awful coffee, odd pancakes. Everything is fake and artificial, bring your own cream for your coffee unless you'll take artificial non-dairy creamer or weird 2% milk in a child's glass brought out to you. Looked at the dinner menu, I was not enticed to come give that a try. Service took forever and wasn't especially nice but at least they aren't phony about it I guess. read more

Went this morning for a breakfast carry out---Both plates had Bacon,eggs,home fries,toast. Both plates of eggs were cooked exactly as ordered, everything was delicious. Also ordered while there 2 biscuits and sausage gravy for tomorrows breakfast, will split between 2 people. It looked very good also.. A very good place to eat, it was really crowed this morning when carry out was picked up, but order was still ready AND hot. A good cook to be able to take care of all the crowd plus carry outs. I have ate inside many times, all of the wait staff have taken care of the table I may be sitting at...They are a super friendly group of workers, You can trust them to give good advise on the food and service. We've eaten here a bunch of times and the food has been great. The issue is with the service and it's getting worse. It was busy today but we sat down and we're basically ignored. 10 mins after we sat down an older couple came in and asked to share our table (it was the only one avail when we came in) we said "sure" and they sat down. Within 30 seconds a waitress come over with cups coffee for them greeted them and walked off. We just sort of sat there in awe. The gentlemen made the correct assumption that we hadn't been waited on (or even offered a menu yet) and went up to the waitress and told her. She couldn't have cared less and just went off to other tables and ignored us for another 5 minutes until we left. During the 15 minutes we were there we saw 3 other couples leave (1 was even after they had ordered but had been waiting forever for their food). They must be making too much money if they can just allow customers to walk out due to such poor service. My suggestion would be to hire more servers or replace the ones you have if they are this inefficient. Sad, as we like the place but it has definitely gone way downhill on the service side. My wife and I were headed to a nearby fast food burger place (I won't say the name, but it rhymes with "Schmattaburger") I was reluctant to go there because their burgers are awful and they take an eternity to deliver the order. Papa's caught my eye, so we decided to give it a try. Even though it was 12:00 it wasn't too crowded at all, maybe 3/4 full if that much. We needed to be back at our campuses at 1:00, but the low number of patrons gave us the impression that we'd have plenty of time. WRONG. We placed our order at 1:05. We got into an intense conversation and lost track of time. Before we knew it it was 12:35. The only thing brought to us was our drinks. We asked the waitress what the holdup was, and she said she didn't know what the problem was with the kitchen. At 12:40 we asked for the order to be boxed up. 12:45 still no action. Just as we were on the verge of walking one of our orders came to the window. We decided to be courteous and wait it out. The other one came out a few minutes later. Then it took 5 minutes to settle up even though I was standing at the register. We were both late and our meals had to be placed in the fridge. Bottom line: FIRST VISIT/LAST VISIT. read more
