This is exactly the kind of locally owned and operated spot I love to support by visiting…read moreregularly. This place is a bit off the beaten path, has seen much better days inside and out, but the broad menu and the hot dogs draw folks. Lise and Feras Alfares opened this spot in 2008, after operating a Mr. Softee truck for number of years in the neighborhood. The menu is centered on hot dogs and burgers, but is really broad, offering a large variety of deli sandwiches, hoagies, gyro, veggie options, quesadillas, nachos, flounder and shrimp plates, plenty of turkey choices, and several dozen toppings and condiments! I have tried hot dogs, burgers, sausages, nachos, and several deli sandwiches - there was nothing that I didn't like, but for me it all about the hot dogs. The ones here are almost at the level of PB's.

I love Hot Dog City. It's a great, charming, divey takeout restaurant with 5-star food and service…read more I love getting their veggie dogs with either a side salad or delicious fries. The veggie dogs are never mushy and always have great texture. The veggie chili is amazing, chocked with beans and fresh veggies and seasoned to perfection. They toast the bun, giving it the perfect texture to complement the dog. The slaw is also some of the best I've had, hands down. The salads are always super fresh, with large mounds of veggies on top. They're definitely a great value. But my most recent and favorite discovery is their fries. They're perfectly crispy, served piping hot, and topped with a delicious Middle Eastern seasoning blend that takes them to the next level. I can't even begin to describe them. Just order them. The best part is that the back of house staff are efficient and accurate and the front of the house staff are all warm, welcoming and efficient. Amazing service all around.

It's not bad by fast food standards but it's never really wowed me, and every place I've been to has always been a super long wait. Unfortunately this one wasn't much better and once again I was waiting a reaaallly long time for my "fast" food. It was a little busy when I got there on a weekday evening, but even considering I was still waiting an awkwardly long time. The manager there seemed to be keeping a good handle on things at least and was professional and polite, so kudos for that. If I really wanted Whataburger for some reason I'd come back here but only if I was ready for a long wait.

The teenage order taker came out from the kitchen area and just looked at me. I finally said "hey, how are you doing". He didn't really respond so I just placed my order. To say he was disinterested is being kind. I got my napkins and filled my drink. The condiment section was lacking salt, so I just went to my table. When the food was brought to me, the employee offered me two kinds of ketchup. Her tray did not have any salt on it either, so I had to ask her to bring some, which she did. Very perfunctory. The burger and fries were just barely warm. The fries tasted fine, but we're nothing to get excited about. The burger patties were thin, dry, and insipid. The toppings were just average. Again, the burger was on the wrong side of warm and did not taste fresh at all. There's just not much positive to say about my experience here this evening. WHATABURGER? Try WHATADISAPPOINTMENT.

They have burgers, hot dogs, subs, breakfast sandwiches, other sandwiches including a fish one, and some good wings. I've had the chicken before and it is quite nice, good crunchy exterior, tender and moist inside. On this visit I opted for a hot dog and the regular cheeseburger. The hot dog is a good one, nice amount of a good tasting chili, and they now use chopped white onions rather than those awful red ones. At $2.69 this is a nice value, the cost in most places here is $3 to $4! The cheeseburger is solid as well, though at $6.90 it is not the value that the hot dog is. But they do offer the Wake Burger for $1 more that comes with double the meat and cheese! The burgers, and chicken, are cooked to order so it will take a little time. When I got there there was a crowd standing around the gas station waiting for their food to be ready. I ordered my cheeseburger and fries and the guy said it would be about 7 minutes which is a very reasonable amount of time. the food was reasonably priced, and the burger was about as good as any restaurant burger in town. I will definitely be back and and noticed that they also had fried chicken and fried fish which I'm sure are just as good as their burgers.
