But in no way does that stop them from serving you the best, freshest food, with a smile. The food is just like grandma makes. Someone complaining of the prices of a fajita taco and they can get a better deal at Stripes. Psshh.....I DON"T THINK SO!! You cannot compare a homemade taco to a stripes taco, no way. Prices for food have skyrocketed to an unimaginable high. Gas is ridiculous! Adjustments have to be made and therefore prices must go up. They have families that depend on them. Have I ordered a fajita taco from Panchito's...yes I have. It was the best and freshest fajita taco that I have ever had, at any local restaurant. Though I must say, the carne guisada on the large 16 inch tortilla, with rice, beans, lettuce and tomato, is my absolute favorite. The 16 inch carne guisada taco, on the menu is $18.99 and the 9 inch is $10.99. Is that too much for a taco? Not really. Is it worth it? 100% YES!! Will I order it again? ABSOLUTELY!! You pay for the quality of the food, the heart that goes into the cooking, the smile and warm greeting when it's brought out to you. I will come back over and over again. In fact, I had Panchito's for lunch today. I had their lunch special of Calabaza con Pollo and it was THE BEST! I may sound like I am over exaggerating but my taste buds don't lie....and neither does my belly. With that said, Jeanie, THANK YOU. I tried the #2 breakfast plate - huevos rancheros - which consisted of two fried eggs served over medium (is that the term for runny centers?), topped with a very delicious red salsa (woohoo, watch that salsa; it's got a bite!!!), tasty refried beans and perfectly-cooked shredded hashbrowns. You have a choice of meat (the bacon was crisp and tasty) and choice of flour or corn tortilla. The flour tortilla was good but disappointingly crunchy. Inside, it is very different from Isabel's, where they have plainer walls, a lower ceiling, and fluorescent lighting. Mexiquito has the darker woodwork, the green and red colors found on the flag of Mexico, and dimmer illumination that some Mexican locales have. Mexiquito is right on the main drag, so I've obviously driven past it on previous visits to the area. I had one of the combination platters with rice and refried beans. I asked for chicken as the filling for my items inside tortillas. Remember that, if you don't specify the filling, it may default to ground beef. The platter was plentiful and it was fairly tasty. They also bring on the chips and salsa. I had a cup of coffee and a glass of ice water. It's good that I asked for the ice water. Normally, it's to cool down from the coffee. Here, they only feature one type of salsa and it was too hot for my taste. Another reviewer mentions it, so I think I'm on track. I was not going to go with 5 stars to begin with, but only offering that one type of salsa with that much kick doesn't make me a fan. Dial it down a little to something more "middle of the road." Otherwise, if you like spicier salsa, Mexiquito is a reliable eatery with friendly personnel and fair prices.
