I did not have my receipt but the tag was sell on the clothing shirt. There are stores out there that will receive the item back with no receipt and simply swipe your credit card or debit card. When I came to the register she was about a few feet away from me, she could have said " Hi I'll be right with you". Acknowledge that I was even there I had to say hi to get her attention. Papaya Clothing - Women's Clothing Near Me - Fairfax, Virginia

I visited Virginia this past weekend and I've never heard of Papaya before. This was the first time shopping at this store and I was very excited and impressed with the style and pricing at this store! It was reasonably priced and the appropriate for teenage/young adults. It's a mix of casual/going out clothing. I found a very cute romper and unfortunately I was too lazy to try it on at the store. Trying it on when I got back to Chicago was a disappointment. The romper did not fit well. I'm still optimistic about this store though. I love how the store has different styles and I would want to give this store a second chance. I know that all clothing doesn't fit well with every single body shape and not trying on something before getting it was my own fault. So from this experience I definitely recommend trying the clothes on before making the purchase! I'm not sure about the quality of the clothing. I don't want to make assumptions but the price tags here are very low compared to other stores. Why is it that two stacks of the same type of sweatshirt do not have any price tags? So the customer is left to trust that the assistant manager has the correct price after she even attempts to look for a price tag and can't find one... Ironically, this isn't the first time I've found items in Papaya without prices... The customer service was at least better then. read more

I liked the items that I purchased and was really happy with the sale, however I was not happy with the sales associate, Raihaanah N.'s, attitude at the fair oaks mall location. When I approached the checkout desk on 6/3/2021, she looked at all the items I had and immediately said "you know you can't return any of these, right?" I told her that I understood and tried on all the items before coming to the register.. she seemed surprised that I was buying several items. Perhaps implicit bias and stereotyping because I am African American? Well it didn't stop there. During the transaction, I noticed a snag on a top, so I went to go get another and asked her to replace it with the one in the bag. She questions me and states the sizes are the same in a condescending tone. I told her that I am the consumer and want to change the item for a different reason, so she should please do so. She rolled her eyes and changed it. After that, I saw a hole in another item and it was the last one, so I asked her if it could receive an additional discount if I buy it. They have done that in the past if an item is defective. She refused and when I mentioned they've done this in the past, she suddenly says she would only apply the discount on a full price item. Honestly, it just sounded like she came up with an excuse to not extend the courtesy to me. After the transaction concluded, she didn't say thank you, nothing. Just gave me my bags in an irritated fashion. I stepped to the side to ensure that all my items were accounted for and to review the receipt. I then overheard her apologizing to the customer behind me, insinuating that I was a problematic customer. Overall, the customer service I experienced from Raihaanah N. was terrible and I may not go back to that location again if she is working. Disappointing. read more

Let's be honest. I'm just your typical man, so I don't usually to shop for women's clothing. But one day I just happened to be passing by, and a divine impulse swept over me compelling me and my buddies to walk in. What's the first thing I saw when I walked into papaya? A short, young Asian girl working diligently, with beads of sweat rolling off her forehead from the stress of manual labor. Golly, this girl was short! Anyways...when she looked up and saw me, she put on the friendliest smile, waved her hand, and asked me if I needed help. All I'm saying is that I know good customer service when I see good customer service, but this was exceptional. Her overwhelming friendliness and charming personality took me aback. All I could say was, "golly". Like I said, I don't normally buy women's clothing, but because of this superb customer service, I couldn't help but buy a pair of denim and a purty winter scarf. I don't know her name, and I don't know her story, but this young, short worker transformed my perspective of not only customer service but of the world and people in general. It would seem I had a better experience at the Papaya in Fair Oaks mall than the last reviewer. As I guy, I don't spend much time in stores. I like to get what I came for, and leave. On July 2, 2014, I went to pick up some Roman-style sandals for my daughter's play (Funny Thing Happened on Way to the Forum). I walked in, and was greeted by a woman who asked if she could help me. I told her I was looking for sandals and showed her a picture. She walked with me to the counter, and picked out the right size for which I asked. I walked to the counter, where the saleswoman told me the sandals were on sale and the sale was final, and I paid. I was in the store for 3-4 minutes at most, which I consider to be a success. read more

I went to the Fair Oaks Mall store to return some leggings I had bought my daughter. The leggings had the price tags on, were in perfect condition, never worn, and I was within the allotted time to return items. I was told I couldn't because "they were one size fits all". I explained they were too big for my daughter. Then I was told I couldn't return them as they were a "final sale item". I showed them the gift receipt and said nowhere on the receipt did it say "final sale". They (the cashier and manager) told me it would be on the original receipt. So I dug through my purse and found original receipt and showed them it did not mention the leggings were a final sale item just formal wear, accessories, under garments etc. were final sale items. They said it was "store policy". So I pointed out the "Store Policy" that was displayed on the counter mentioned formal wear, accessories, under garments, etc but failed to mention leggings. They then said the "leggings were an accessory" and I couldn't return them. I pointed out the accessory area and that the leggings were on a clothing carousel across the store from accessories. In addition, nowhere on the price tag or the clothing rack did it state that leggings were accessories or a final sale item. Then they told me the cashier at Tyson's (where I bought the leggings) should have told me the "store policy that leggings were final sale." Again with the "store policy"?!? I pointed out AGAIN that the store policy posted NEVER mentioned leggings! I told them that the cashier NEVER told me the items were final sale or I would not have purchased them as my daughter is very tiny and I have to often return items that don't fit her. They said I'd have take the leggings back to Tysons and take it up with them. I asked for them to call Tysons. They did, and "claimed" Tysons refused also. The cost of the leggings? Less than $12 total. I was just shocked at their refusal to return them and how they kept changing their story (SIX separate times) as to WHY I couldn't return the leggings. Each "excuse" did not have any supporting documentation. I found the whole experience unethical. Bottom line, if you buy something from Papaya, you run the risk of NOT being able to return it -- despite what their posted store policy or your receipt states. BEWARE! I also sent an e-mail to the corporate office and have NEVER heard back. I guess earning $12 was more important to the company than losing a customer. read more
