I first heard of Papenhausen Automotive at the Chico race track and was in desperate need for a decent mechanic and I figured if he drove/worked on race cars/motors he should be a decent mechanic so I got my truck in there and he hooked it up found the troubles, fixed it, and I was on my merry way in no time at all. This was 4 years ago, We have since used him for my grandma, sister, & aunt's cars and also mine on a regular basis. My sister's breaks went out on her truck and while he was fixing them he noticed other issues that were wrong and asked if she wanted him to take care of them and she said yes. Well thankfully he found them and fixed them otherwise it would have been quite costly down the road !!! Richard and his worker have always been very pleasant, helpful, and most of all VERY trustworthy and that's something that's hard to find these days anymore. Plus his prices are reasonable. The only "negative" thing I can think of is he could use a few more chairs in the office as a waiting room but that's no big thing. Papenhausen Automotive is the only place I will take my car .For the past two years, Rich has been honest, friendly, and fair. In the past, I have had bad luck with other local mechanics. I even paid $60 for a spark plug once.Another time, I'm certain I paid for work that did not need to be done.When I got my new car, I felt like I had to take my Honda to the dealer; just to ensure proper work, knowing I was always overcharged. Now that I found Papenhausen Automotive, I hope I never have to look for a reliable mechanic again. I have never reviewed anything before. I had an appointment to get an oil change at 10am I got there at 9:50 and whoever was working said they'd be with me in a "couple" of minutes. Ok im early i can wait, 10:20 comes around and no one has said anything else to me or come and taken my keys. I've been standing in front of there office for over 30min. This is the most horrible customer service I have ever had! I will never again buy one of the those neighborhood special cards if this company is on it! So if you want incompetent employees to service you by all means go ahead and use this shop I assure you you wont be disappointed! Douchebags read more

I have taken my 2007 Chevy Duramax Pick Up, 2011 Ford Fusion and 2010 Hyundia. This shop is operated by the owner, Richard Papenhausen. He gets you in quick and has always got the job done in the time frame and price quoted. I felt very comfortable and not taken advantage of like most shops. He explained everything to me and returned all parts to me that were replaced. This automotive garage is great! Rich is the owner and he really knows his stuff. Every time I bring my car in to him for repairs, he diagnoses the problem quickly, makes the necessary repairs and gets it done within hours. I can say he charges about 20-25% less than my other automotive gararge I used to go to. He is personal and knowledgeable and so is Will, his other mechanic.
