I'm reducing her to three stars because she got more and more annoying with every trip I made to the store. Our invitations are beautiful, and I know she has to try to upsell, but every.single.time we went she would not leave us alone about ordering other things. Way past the point of making a friendly suggestion... she was trying to pressure us into ordering napkins, thank you notes, blah, blah, blah from her. She also forgot to order an extra insert for my invitations. They got there before we sent them out, so not the end of the world, but she wouldn't really take responsibility for it. I don't know. My invitations turned out great, but Elaine became an annoyance that just prattled on and on. read more

Like any bride trying to plan a wedding is insane. When my husband and I met the owner of paper potpourri at a bridal fair we thought she was quirky but true to the core. We decided to go with her for our invites. She works out of her home in Haverhill. You can really tell she loves what she does. That's where the beauty of this review stops. We ordered our invites, we had negotiated a 10% total discount and no sales tax for a total of 15% off plus no shipping charges. Thank-God we had a contract... When the invites arrived in we went to get them, first off we were missing countless envelopes( not her doing but still she should have checked before calling us and ordered them from the vendor) Haverhill was a hike from our home. When it came time to pay the balance she suddenly forgot that we got a discount, paid no sales tax and tried to charge us shipping charges. When we talked to her about this she started yelling at us. Who the heck did she think she is. We were spending a decent amount of $$ in her shop. She finally pulled our contract from her files and saw in her own handwriting that what we were saying was true. She "agreed to honor this, but said she hated feeling taken advantage of". Taken advantage of was right, but from the other side of the table. How many countless brides has she done this too?? Elaine was the absolutely perfect person to create our wedding invitations! We had been on the fence about using a vendor or doing it DIY, and then we met Elaine. She sat and talked with us for hours as we went through book after book and went back and forth about what we wanted. Then, when we decided that we wanted an invitation that combined elements from everything we had seen, she was able to figure out a way to do it! We would never have ended up with the invitation we had were it not for Elaine. Plus, she was always there to lend a hand, whether it was helping to figure out our wording, delicately handling a meeting with both mothers, or answering our questions about how to address the envelopes. All along the way, no matter how silly the question, Elaine was always 100% invested in our happiness and it really felt like working with a close friend. Elaine has been my favorite wedding vendor so far. My fiance and I just received our wedding invitations about two weeks ago, and they are simply stunning. Elaine was available 24/7 via phone and email, she made me feel like I was her only client- even though I'm sure she was juggling a few at the time. After I initially contacted her, she got back to me within a few hours and I set-up an appointment with her right away. She was available to meet on work night and weekends, which my fiance and I were very grateful for since we both work full time 9 to 5 jobs. I'm a very picky person, I'm an analyst, it's who I am. Elaine was very respectful of my picky ways, and took the time to get to know me as a person. She was able to help me pick out the most beautiful wedding invitations that suited my personality, and the style of our wedding. She also was very respectful of my budget! Seriously, don't order your invitations online- you will regret it! Elaine works with any budget, and your invitations will come out beautiful. read more

I actually really had an enjoyable experience here. Yah the lady is quirky, but that's why we liked her. I was very clear on what my budget was up front (and I even lowballed because it's obvious people will try to upsell you. It their business!) She left us alone and let us peruse through her stacks and stacks (and stacks) of stuff lying around until we found what we liked. She is a locally run business out of her own home and that's what was most enjoyable to me. She allows people into her home and helps them with the most special days of their lives. I really liked her and the results of my order ...and so did my guests. I guess it would be easier and everything to just order online or from some printing company, but she just had this little spark in her that made it worth it to take a chance. People need to stop being such bridezillas. read more

I met Elaine at a bridal show a few months back. She kept in touch with me for months until we finally had our wedding date, time and venue. I told her exactly what I wanted for the save the dates and I loved the proof. When the actual save the dates came in, they looked NOTHING like the proof (we wanted it to look like a baseball ticket); our picture was SO pixelated, it was terrible. Unfortunately, we could do nothing about it since the save the dates were already late to begin with, that if we ordered more, they wouldn't have come in for at least another month. I was really disappointed and out $200! I wouldn't use her services ever again. read more

I used Elaine to do the invites for my wedding and they came out GORGEOUS. She spent a lot of time with me selecting the right ones. As other reviewers have stated, invites (especially nice ones!) are pricey and this won't be a cheap transaction, but I think it's better to go with a professional than to risk all sorts of mistakes/ problems with invites. I didn't want to do much work, I just wanted to pick the invites and have her do the rest, which she did perfectly. SHe also helped me choose save-the-dates that were cute and affordable. I too did not have a positive experience with Paper Potpourri. Like the first reviewer, I was initially impressed with the business and the owner. I selected a save-the-date card from her extensive collection - however, I was in a hurry the day I went and did not go over all of the ins and outs of ordering.... my mistake, and I took it as a learning experience! When the cards arrived, not only was my bill about $150 more than expected (about 35% percent of the total bill, due to tax, freight, and other fees that I thought were included in the initial price she gave me), the cards were NOT the same as they were pictured in the sample book. The sample book showed a ribbed paper, and I received a flat paper. Also, for the price I paid (nearly $500 for 75 save-the-dates with envelopes - no addressing) I was very disappointed in the quality of the card. NONE of them laid "flat" - they were all curved/bent. To be honest, I was so disgusted with them I almost spent more money on ordering new ones (myself, NOT from Paper Potpourri), but didn't want to spend the extra money. I never called to complain, I should have, but I was afraid of receiving the same type of response that the first reviewer had - and to be honest, I didn't want to deal with it! I have enough stress going on with my upcoming wedding and didn't want to add more fuel to the fire. They did tell me that they would "do a follow up call" to see how I like the cards - they never did. If they would've called, I would've said something. I ordered my wedding invitations (100) - assembled with all response cards, encloser cards, envelopes (with printed return address), and thank you cards/envelopes - for $550 off of mygatsby.com!! That's only $50 more than what I paid for 75 save-the-dates and envelopes. And the quality was excellent! I have learned from my mistake! Hopefully this will help some of you as well! read more

Elaine did a fantastic job on the envelopes for our wedding invitations. She was personable, reliable and great at her job. We even had to change a few things last minute and she was fine with it and charged no extra fee. Her price was standard, and for the amount of time and effort she puts in is well worth it.
