It is generally quiet except when there are baseball games at the adjacent ball field. Bluegill, channel catfish, green sunfish, largemouth bass are to be found there. The park is a quiet space which includes various athletic fields (baseball, basketball, tennis) and a well-maintained fishing pond stocked with catfish, bass, bluegill, and trout in season. The park features plenty of green space, shade trees, benches and tables, and walking paths. We had a nice afternoon with the kids, catching lots of little panfish in the pond, all released. Parking is free in the large dirt lot, but more that as best we could figure, the only bathroom facility is a portapotty near the baseball diamond. Hidden gem.

This is a pretty cute little park right between a couple of highly used roads in Bellevue. Unfortuntaly there was no direct handicap access or ride on handicap equipment like i have seen at other sites. One interesting thing about this park is its quite spread out. There is a splash pad area, playground area, tennis courts and baseball diamonds but they are all hundred feet or more apart. The tennis court area looks to be getting some pickle ball courts but i couldnt tell for sure. There is street side parking that is on the same side as the park and a private parking lot but it is clear at one end so might miss it until you are leaving! The covered areas with picnic tables are pretty decent size. Roughly 6 x 10 person tables in them. There is a creek/water run off that separates the baseball areas from the rest which does have good fencing protecting it. If you have allergies beware the surrounding cottonwood trees! Felt like it was snowing at times which is funny until you breathe it in haha.

Overall really great park with a lot of options (especially for younger kids). All of the equipment is on sand, so make sure you plan accordingly for footwear. Most kids had shoes off when we were there, but the sand would be hot in the afternoon as there isn't a ton of shade.

Nice to grab a lunch and get away for awhile. Mature trees make for good shade to eat at any of the picnic tables. Plenty of play ground equipment, basket ball and tennis court are available. There is a slight trail around the property and tree row allowing running, jogging, and long boarding; however, it's not currently connected to any of the larger metro trails which provide much better access across the city.

The city holds a lot of events here, which is cool. It's a nice place to walk around, especially if the fountain is running. All in all, my favorite park in the CB area.

What a gorgeous Park this is! Bayliss Park is named after Samuel Bayliss, who donated the land for…read morethe park in 1854. He was a businessman, entrepreneur and city council member. I enjoyed my visit because this Park is chock full of sculptures, statues and memorials. Still, it is a relaxing place for families to visit and children to play. The water fountains were particularly entrancing to me. They were designed by a sculptor named Brower Harcher, which accounts for their artistically beautiful features. On www.councilbluffslibrary. org., I read that Bayliss Park had a funny way of coming about. "In 1854, Bayliss donated a portion of the land he owned to build a county courthouse; but, when the county inspectors arrived they dismissed his land and instead purchased a plot one block to the south to build on. Despite the fact that the original purpose for his donation had been ignored, the city still began to develop the land for city use. Ten years after the donation the city began to plant trees on the plot and even put up a large wooden fence to surround the park. All of this was done without any known objection from Mr. Bayliss." It was not until 20 years later, that Mr. Bayliss demanded his land back and sued the county, and subsequently the city of Council Bluffs. He died in April 1874 while the trial was still pending & his widow continued the fight! The very Park named after Samuel Bayliss was being sued by none other then the family of Samuel Bayliss! Finally, in 1878, a Judge ruled in favor of Council Bluffs, stating that, although the land was not used as Mr. Bayliss had originally intended, he had still donated it willingly and had never objected to its use before. That's good enough for me. This focal point of downtown Council Bluffs is a very nice Park and a great place to visit, 4 YELP STARS!
