Long time fan of Papous. My wife and I have been there over 30 times. We have been a few times recently and frankly the food has changed considerably and for the worse. The same items we have gotten before have changed in flavor, quality, and appearance While the wonderful ambiance is still there, the prices for what you now get are not worth the visit. The owner is an amazing person but something unseen has changed. Liquor selection is amazing and bar staff are as well. Main dining room servers are a GIANT hit or miss. We were once told by a dining room server " we don't just give out water". ACTUAL FACT My recommendation if you go, stick to the bar area and drink all you want Avoid the food as the quality/value has gone WAY down. read more

I love Papous. The food is fabulous, generously portioned and competitively priced. I have seen comments saying the prices have gone up in the last couple years...wonder if that person has ever filled a gas tank or gone grocery shopping. Papous prices are excellent and very much a value given the large portions. The only thing better than the food and service is the ownership. Family owned and a welcoming and warm environment. Dijon salmon with wild rice and broccoli was not what we had in mind when we went in but decided to try it since tomorrow would be turkey day, and boy did we give thanks we tried this amazingly delicious dish! I completely love this place. I have been a frequent Monday visitor waiting for my daughter to finish her dance classes. Olivia and Jane are great. Attentive and always willing to help when needed. Always good conversation with John, who shows his appreciation to everyone who is there. One has to love the eclectic nature of the restaurant. The decor is something special and really tough to even describe. You just need to see it for yourself. People say the cost is pricey, which honestly, it is a little, but the quality of food is way better than a typical type restaurant. And the amount of food you get is completely worth it in my opinion. Their soups are so good. More than once, while disappointing, they run out of some of my favorites. I don't mind, as that just shows they must be quality as can be to run out. Favorite for me is the wedding soup and clam chowder. I have a few staples that I love there. Weiner Schnitzel is on the top of the list. If anyone has visited Balaton before, this gets as close as possible to there. Their pizza is great as well. Their menu is full of infinite options that will make any undecided person struggle to pick a meal. Their weekly menu special is also great. You could consider this a diamond in the rough. Located at the end of a somewhat secluded shopping plaza, Papous is a must try simply off of how unique their menu is. They defiantly separate themselves away from any local bar and grille I've ever been to. I don't think I've ever been to a sports bar in northeast Ohio with a seafood selection and weekly menu specials like this. Everything about my experience here was great. I came here with about 10 people and didn't have trouble getting seating for a Browns game. My only negative comment would be to have the waiting staff for attentive. Just had terrible service at Papous tonight. I understand many restaurants are having trouble finding good help. But when 5 people wait patiently not saying a word for over an hour and then the food is served to one person at a time with 5 minutes in between and the last person wait an additional 30 minutes something should be done. My wife and I Discovered this eclectic sports bar at the back corner of the Marc's Plaza in Aurora by accident. Well honestly it was by mistake. my mistake. We had tickets to see a play in Aurora and I forgot to make a reservation for dinner before the performance. We walked in and out of a couple restaurants we've been to in the past because they were booked. This left us with little time for slow service. We walked in to Papous and told the hostess we were in a hurry to make curtain time at the theater. The place was busy but we were seated immediately. Less then a minute later our server came to the and said I hear you're going to a play and running late. What can I get you? Our food arrived fast, hot and delicious. Haven't been here for many years. We were happy they were opened after 8. We were coming from a nursing home with our disabled parent. The entrance was wheel chair accessible, which was a must! There was a table straight ahead; but, was right in front of the busy kitchen door and a cold breeze. We were seated right away, sweet, we were extremely hungry! We were served quickly. The food was good. Definitely pub food. I had the chicken nugget bowl which had mashed potatoes, (instant) which I am not a big fan. Prices were steep, but just going to McDonald's these days is a whopping $30 for 2 people. The music in the bar area was quite noisy. Somewhat surprised at the deliciousness of their food! Upon entrance, my expectations wavered. I was on my way home from shopping and felt like a perch dinner. I looked up a few restaurants on my phone, and the reviews stated that this restaurant had the best perch dinners in these parts. Not wanting to drive North, I headed in their direction. Walking into the restaurant, it seemed a bit rough from where I'm generally sitting, but I figured that it might be a pleasant surprise, and I'm up for that kind of joy no matter where I find myself, so I bravely continued forward. The restaurant is located in a shopping plaza that had seen better days. Inside was decorated like a lake bar, which is cool. Their staff was friendly and down-to-earth. When they brought the perch dinner to my table, at my first taste, I was surprised; the breading was old world, the perch fillets were plump and whole, and there was some oil, but it was clean! The perch platter was different from what you eat at the restaurants on Lake Erie, but pleasantly! I will go back when I don't feel like driving to the big lake. Delicious! I've eaten here several times. This time I went with their Chilean Sea Bass. It was thick, perfectly cooked and seasoned to perfection! The sliced potatoes and broccoli were also very good. I've also had the gyro salad in the past and it was very good. My friend had the smash burger and loved it. The 2 brother who own the restaurant do the cooking. It's hard to believe that such quality food come out of this modest kitchen. read more
