Returned to 1815 Tavern tonight. After a very enjoyable lunch at our last visit we wanted to see what dinner was like. In short, it was excellent. Our server Kayla did a wonderful job all evening. She was very attentive and effective with a marvelous personality. Our Brie appetizer was great. My pork chop was excellent and it will be great for lunch tomorrow. My wife enjoyed her walleye very much. The coffee was good and our strawberry rhubarb crumble was a great finish. So, bottom line... I highly recommend. read more

Normally a go to place for us. On this evening, there were a couple of large parties that resulted in longer wait. One table had the wrong food and others in their party had to eat and he had to watch. Another table was concerned about making it to the movies. We had a bit of a wait for food, luckily no rush. Zucchini fries were tasty. Very easy to eat. Salad was good. Fresh and the beets weee a nice acidic twist. I enjoyed the crispy lotus root even more. We'll be back though. Just moved to Aurora and knew this was the first place we wanted to go out for dinner. We started with the pork belly & peanut noodles (stole the show 10/10) and the crab dip (meh wasn't cheesy and gooey enough 5/10). For entree's my toddler had the cheese pizza (SO good 10/10, can't wait to try other pizzas!) Then the brisket stroganoff (whoa 10/10) and the strip over corn risotto (also amazing but the olive tapenade was NOT needed, without it I'd give it a 9/10). All HUGE portions and very reasonably priced. Can't wait to go back and try more stuff. They had about 7-8 desserts that sounded SOOOOOOO yummy but we were so full, so def save room if you want a sweet treat to end the night read more

Easy dish to skip a sep salad with this entree. All in one! The strip was a huge thick cut and a Kalamata olive tapenade. All of these flavors and I could not resist ordering this. Off the charts the best!! The bread was so good-warm, crusty on the outside, soft and moist in the inside with a salty crust. Seriously the best bread I have ever had! Then the halibut was so delicious and perfect and the veggies and risotto was mouthwatering!!! We will come here every time we come to the Twins festival! The appetizer Brussels sprouts and zucchini sticks were decent, the burger was bland and tasted like a frozen burger, the brisket stroganoff was bland the onions weren't cooked, the majority of pieces of meat with the stroganoff were mostly fat with hints of meat, the bolognese was incredibly bland, no life to it at all. After we were asked if we were ready to order and said yes then we were told the specials. There aren't many tables so it wasn't very busy but service was still slow and our table was on a very noticeable incline. The ambience isn't very warm and inviting. Great ambiance! Food and service was great for all of us with one exception. The bolognese was extremely bland. Tasted like it came out of a Chef Boy r Dee can. Not simmered at all, and served cold (not even luke warm). I've have had bolognese from several restaurants and this one really surprised me given that everything else was spectacular. I will be back, but will stay away from this dish. The rest of our party enjoyed their dishes. I would strongly recommend the brussle sprouts and brownie sundae. read more

What a great surprise! An immaculate interior, a comfortable patio area, a cordial greeter at the door, and a wonderful server helped us greatly since we announced we were first time visitors. The food was relatively expensive for the area, but well worth the price with our taste buds clamoring for more but we were too full to even have desert. The sirloin was absolutely perfect with and served with a tasty vegetable medley. The Stroganoff came with perfectly prepared linguine smothered in freshly grated parmesan cheese. The photos attest to the picture perfect presentation, but you really have to taste the food to appreciate perfection in Aurora! read more

We were were pleasantly surprised with this Tavern. Since the Aurora Outlet did not have any restaurants or food available, we cut our shopping trip short and headed for some much needed lunch. We sat in the room with the bar at some high table tops. The pizza was absolutely delicious. I loved the fact that this place has such history. The lady working there shared so many interesting stories. She showed me the fireplace, the old section of wood with little acorns still in there from a long time ago. I would do zero stars if possible, Walking in the ambiance looks very nice and very quiet, started off being the only customers there and still the service was the slowest I have ever received very disappointing, and mediocre it almost felt like Donna did not welcome us in, the burger was beyond bland, no salt what's so ever or seasoning, the pizza was beyond soggy and plate was filled with grease. Everything about the 1815 Tavern is top notch. We dine there several times throughout the year and introduce our friends to it as well.

I've been here a few times now, and each time sadly gets a little worse. The place is cute, and the food is mixed in terms of quality of preparation. The first time I came, they forgot my addition of salmon. When it came after I pointed it out, it came well done when I had asked for it medium rare. I (politely) pointed it out, but then it came practically raw! it was only barely seared on both sides and completely raw beneath the surface! for fear of having my food spot on, i didn't say anything further and packed it to finish cooking at home. while the salmon was a disaster, the rest of the food was good (except the bland hummus appetizer). drinks were yummy and have some interesting choices. my next visit the brussel sprout appetizer was horribly greasy to the point of being soggy. everything else was ok, nothing stellar. the brussel sprout dish was actually my favorite during that initial visit so i still gave it another shot at my third visit. that time, it was crispy, but actually overly fried and only just leaves instead of actual sprouts. it felt as if they had run out of sprouts and just broke up 3 whole ones and spread them out on the plate. i had left still hungry since i didn't have time to order extra food to make up for it. on the plus side, while the burger was a bit bland, my son devoured the pizza. of course, it's pretty hard to go wrong with pizza, and there wasn't anything particularly special about it. this place is a nice addition to the neighborhood. Service is friendly. I only hope they can fix their quality control issues (they left out an element of my entree on my 4th visit.) read more

This beautiful historic building (used to be an inn and tavern/stop on the Chillicothe Highway in the Western Reserve) makes a lovely restaurant setting! The tables and booths are cozy, and the large fireplace is great for cold evenings. The outdoor patio has some shaded seating as well as a gas fire pit with comfortable lounging area. There is also some outdoor seating in the front of the house, for parties of 2 or 4, this is really lovely in summer. The bar is small but intimate. I have been here a couple of times, and can't say the food was spectacular. However, we made a last minute reservation for Mother's Day and were pleasantly surprised at the brunch menu! Everything was delicious. Breakfast pizza? Yes! The mimosas were wonderful too! The staff was friendly and helpful. As a local who grew up in Aurora and returned to raise children here, I am so glad this historical building had been given new life through 1815. read more

I'd found this place accidentally. The place was in historic downtown of Aurora. I got the table outside as the weather was perfect for sitting in the patio. The menu wasn't plentiful but it was possible to choose something. I ordered soup of the day and beet salad and my friend got pizza. The first minus was the taste of soup- too salty and the soup wasn't "homemade" but probably from processed food. The salad was good and I was glad I added a protein- salmon. The pizza also was great. However, the another minus was the waiting time. After soup, we waited for pizza and salad around 30 minutes...even the cafe was empty just 2 tables on the patio. Also, the tavern didn't offer the bottle water or reverse osmosis- for me personally, it was a minus. Ordered a take out veggie pizza($15)and entree tavern salad($11). When I was handed the items they felt extremely light. Brought the items home and opened the salad box. The amount of salad for $11 was ridiculous. Everything was just thrown in there with lots of brown spotted lettuce. Disgusting. Cheese was stuck on the bottom of the box instead of on top. Ended up throwing the whole thing away. Pizza was cold and needed to be warmed up in the microwave at home even though I was only 5 minutes later than when they said it would be ready. Instead of leaving it on a warmer they had it sitting out on a counter with nothing to keep it warm. Spoke with Lindsay, the manager, who was very accommodating about the situation. Very disappointed as we've eaten there a few times and it was very good. Won't be going back there for quite a while. read more

I had worst takeout experience I have had by far in a long time. TLDR; head somewhere more organized and cheaper with better staff. also NOT dog friendly lol I placed an order over the phone for two pizzas and a couple salads. and we were told it would be ready at 5:25pm. We showed up at 5:25pm and were told 5-10 more minutes. We asked again in 10 more minutes if the food was finished and were told again that it would be 5-10 more minutes. This cycle continued until 5:55pm, until they had finally told us they had given our food away over 20 minutes ago and had to remake it. The hostess had even tried to call the man to bring our food back (???) as a possible solution. An hour later, we finally had our food at 6:20. There was no apology from the manager nor any of the employees and a severe lack of communication. If someone had told us at the beginning that they had accidentally given our food away it would've be fine - we would've got a seat on the patio and had a drink while we were waiting for them to remake it - no big deal. Instead, we sat in the parking lot for an HOUR while they repeatedly lied to us due to their disorganization. Additionally, there was no apology, nor discount, nor anything for the inconvenience. Having decent food only matters if you can get it out in a timely fashion and with decent customer service. I would not recommend this place. Also, they don't allow ANY dogs on the patio, regardless of how well behaved they are, which the waiter rudely scolded us for when we tried to sit on the patio after they finally told us that they gave our food away. In terms of parking, there's a private lot behind this building. The building itself is truthfully easy to miss since the sign is kinda small, and it's a nondescript white building on the corner. It's been a couple of years since I first tried 1815 Tavern, and my experience this time around was MUCH better than the first few times. This was a spur of the moment lunch today and everything was very good. Started with the white bean dip with house made bread. Delicious. Think of a lighter version of hummus with a bread that's lighter than pita. Had the salad and pizza combo (shaved Brussel Sprouts, roasted squash with an excellent balsamic dressing) and 7 inch pizza. My wIfe chose the soup and salad combo (vegetable soup, Caesar salad). Both were very good. I'll stop in again and update sometime soon. read more

For starters, the building has been there since 1815 (hence, the name!), yet it is beautifully updated. The inside is really sophisticated for such a historic building. They have a nice roaring fireplace, tufted seating, pretty 1815 branding on everything from the tables to the water glasses, and plenty of open spaces. The inside is surprisingly huge. You can come here for a quaint little date or bring a large party of people. The parking is also super easy. Their farm-to-table menu has a really thoughtful selection of upscale entrees. I had the pork shank (which comes with brussels and spaetzle) and Mom had the scallop fettuccine. Both were to die for. My pork basically fell off the bone with barely a touch, as it should be! I had a bite of my Mom's scallops, and they were juicy and fresh, not frozen (cue happy dance!). Not to mention, HUGE portions. Yes, the 1815 is expensive, but the entree sizes are so large that you will indisputably have an entirely second meal for later. We didn't have any drinks, but their inventive drink menu certainly had some delicious sounding options. Our server was also super friendly and beyond attentive, especially because we were the only customers in there! If you hit it at 4pm or sooner, you'll have the place to yourself. After 5pm+, they are rightfully packed! Sorry, Aurora, for always thinking you didn't have any restaurants. The 1815 Tavern has changed my mind! I want to give it a better review but unfortunately it was a bit of a weird experience. We spent most of the night waiting lucky we where seated faster than it took to get food. I think the Waite staff may be understaffed alltogether. Our waitress was very friendly and gave us desert for the mess up. We ordered appetizers which didn't take alot of time to come out which is good because it almost took 2 hours to get out pizzas and we were hungry. I got the mussles and my wife got the fried green tomatos. All very good after sitting about 45 minutes the lady comes out to tell us they didn't cook our pizzas for some reason and that they are starting on them now we are about a half hour from closing time and everyone's running around cleaning everything up and we got there 2 and a half hours before closing pizza came finally so we rushed to eat most came back to the hotel and the waitress brings us free dessert for the mess up over all the experience wasn't bad the food is good the pizzas arnt worth the price. read more
