Would love to review the food but I physically cannot take my fiancé here. What's the point of having a wheelchair accessible restroom and parking lot if someone who's in a wheelchair can't even get into your building? Why even show that on google if the entire building as a whole is not wheelchair accessible. It's a kick in the face. I understand it's probably an old building, but it's kind of ridiculous to claim any kind of accessibility if someone disabled can't even get into your building. The Doug Out is the kind of place Hunter S. Thompson might go looking for a gang bang and a cheap steak. I don't have anything personal against motorcycles, apart from the fact that they're constantly rolling down Rte. 303 to-and-from the Doug Out, past my house. It's a leather-clad asshole parade down my street every weekend in summer in Richfield.,..the price of living somewhere that qualifies as "scenic" by Ohio standards. Sure.....somewhere deep beneath my layers of education, domestication, and gentrification, I might acknowledge that motorcycles are pretty cool, but I still prefer to exchange hard looks with the grizzled bikers and their disturbingly masculine women from my fuel-efficient foreign car every time I drive past the Doug Out. So hence, I've been boycotting this place ever since moving to Richfield six years ago. My boycott was part indignation, part fear. And yet, there is one thing that will motivate me to overcome these fears and petty objections.....karaoke! I learned that the Doug Out offers karaoke (that noblest of art forms) on Friday nights, so I walked through the snowstorm last night to have my moment with the mic, and put an end to my boycott. I am a terror when it comes to karaoke. Let me introduce you to my set list from last night: Devo - Whip It Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give it Away ( you need an extra pair of lips) Robert Palmer - Addicted to Love Prince - When Doves Cry Doobie Brothers - What A Fool Believes Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London (as performed by Scooby Doo) (all sung with both gusto AND irony.) I know, I know...an awesome selection of tunes, right? In conclusion, the Doug Out is not so scary, and maybe even fun. Sure, some people threw shit at me from across the bar, but that is to be expected when you're publicly mocking a revered vocal talent like Michael McDonald. The good thing is, I'm 6'7" , 230 LBS, and perfectly capable of defending myself. And plus there was some other guy at the bar with immaculate grooming habits and a pricey-looking argyle cashmir sweater, so I figured he would be the first victim if any violence erupted from the mongrels lurking in the bar-room shadows, allowing me sufficient time to retreat to my Toyota and get the hell out of there. read more

I am not sure why the Dougout gets such poor marks with people-- I can only assume that most people only review a business when they are unhappy with it. We live in town, and though we don't "hang out" here, or any other bar for that matter-- we have gone with lots of friends on many different occasions-- sometimes we use it as a meeting spot before a concert, and sometimes we go to karaoke because some of our friends like to sing. There is a mixed group of husbands and wives, and a few single friends, and no one is ever uncomfortable. We also are not youngsters-- maybe that makes a difference. The food is decent and cheap here---and we have NEVER had to wait a long time for it. Drinks are reasonable and the bartenders pretty good. Lunch! They have a lunch steak special so stay tuned! Guuuh...Steak chewey but what do expect for 6 bucks... OMG the bathroom...I won't go into details but imagine the funk of a college bar mens room... One bright spot...The server/bartender- she handled the lunch crowd pretty well with no help... We were there longer than necessary but considering how many tables she had plus the sitters at the bar.... The Dougout is a great corner bar. It's a dive bar, be sure about that. The drinks are cheap, the food is decent (their pizza is much better than decent), and the servers are friendly. I think it's difficult to enjoy your time here if you are worried about what other people are doing or what other people are thinking about what you are doing. I have had a great night here countless times, and I wouldn't say that I am the typical demographic. If you are looking to be in a place where others care and think more (or less) about you based on your beer choice, jukebox picks, or profession keep on driving. Worst service I have ever experienced. We walked in having a good time because we just got done cleaning and were ready for some drinks and she wouldn't serve us because she claimed we were drunk. We hadn't even had a drink yet. She was so rude and started cussing at us. I have been bartending and managing for years, and couldn't believe how she was acting. Excruciatingly slow kitchen. Got there at 6:30 to order a pizza which is their Tues night special. They said they could not put the order in for 30 minutes because the dough had to rise, and then at least another 30 min for the order. So we ordered off the regular menu, burgers, kids grilled cheese and a wrap. 7:40 rolled around and they said it would still be a while because the kitchen got slammed. What? On my first visit I ordered a pizza and cheese fries. The pizza took an hour and ten minutes to make (I waited for it) and even after that timeframe I had to ask for someone to get it and see if it's ready. The fries were still not ready. I asked about the fries and was told they just came up. Upon getting the food to work, the fries were completely raw, not even luke warm. The pizza order was wrong with the toppings and looked like it had been dropped. On my second visit I ordered a pizza which took 55 minutes to make (I waited for it, again), and it again, came wrong. I didn't have time to wait for another, so I took it. I will acknowledge, it did taste fresh and good. On my third visit I came in for a $6 steak, which was 80% fat. I inquired to the server who informed me that the owner buys cheap steaks. She went on to explain that she frequently doesn't get paychecks because the owner has to choose between paying the employees or buying alcohol. On my fourth visit I ordered another pizza. After having learned my lesson on waiting, I ordered it and came in to pick it up an hour later. It still wasn't ready. I waited an additional 20 minutes... To take an hour twenty minutes to make what can be baked in an oven in 12 minutes is shameful. The best part is when I opened it up, the pizza toppings were wrong, and the pizza itself was upside down in the box... That's right, the top of the pizza was facing the bottom of the box. I pointed it out to the bartender who's response was "I'm not surprised. Do you want me to make another?" On my fifth visit I came in to order a steak at 9:35pm. I took until 9:46pm until I server even came over, to which she informed me that the cook left early "sorry". I approached the bar to request the owner, but was interrupted when one of your guests grabbed my crotch with two hands (I am a male, as was he) and told me I'm handsome. At this point I just left. After such a large quantity of unpleasurable visits, I googled your business and found one poor review after another. On Yelp there are four reviews, all four are negative. On the BBB you have an F- reputation in regards to the quality of food and service. I've now had five experiences in your facility, each one negative. Your public reviews are horrible. I've asked visitors to our store if they have been there and not one person had anything nice to say. read more

The $9.99 fish and shrimp dinner caught our eye as we were driving. As my wife and I entered the dimly lit bar & grill, we immediately noticed a certain vibe. No one in the establishment looked "like" us, but they looked "at" us. As we stood looking around, no waitress bothered to seat us. My sweet wife kindly asked a bartender if it's self seating. "Sit anywhere", was the curt reply. After seating ourselves at one of the many open tables, a waitress walked by us twice without so much as acknowledging our presence. We waited a while longer, giving her the benefit of the doubt. After catching the waitress' eye, she turned away and went behind the bar, confirming that we weren't welcome there. My wife and I went to the Doug Out last night to see The Island Dr sing and we were blown away by the staff, food and atmosphere!!! I had been there 1 time before and had the pizza which was money and last night there wasn't a single seat available yet Margie was an absolutely GREAT bartender! She was swamped, working by herself and never stopped running and smiling the whole time and never got behind. We ordered wings and Abbey nailed them, she was in the weeds clearly so we asked her if she had time to make our wings extra crispy before we ordered them and w/o hesitation she said yes! Not only were they great but she was serving/running her own food all night. We will DEFINITELY be back again, certainly Friday Oct. 16th to see The Island Dr again, and look forward to seeing them all. read more
