Good lord. Why did it take us so long to try this place!? These are hands down probably the best gyros I've had. I used to say that about this little vendor that would come out to Old Settlers Music Festival, but these give them a run for their money. And I'm so happy to have such good gyros here whenever I want- instead of waiting for that magical one time a year. They load their gyros up with a TON of meat, tzatziki, and onions, and the the pita bread is soft and pillowy. SO GOOD! The gyro plate is so much food. I can hardly get halfway through before feeling full. It's a great value for what you get. The Caesar salad with gyro meat is also REALLY good. They load it up with meat also. Can't go wrong with gyro meat on a bed of romaine, smothered in Caesar dressing. My oldest daughter also really enjoyed the Chipolte Chicken Wrap. And the littles enjoy their grilled cheese on pita bread. :) Seriously, if you haven't tried this place, you need to come. They need to open a big location, with a kids play area...we would be here all the time. read more

There are lot of places that sell gyro around Katy but this place stands out from all, great food had the original gyro with ethan style, lamb with keto salad instead of pita bread and some falafels which was ok, service was great, locally owned and operated, owner made sure we had the best service and food!! read more

Absolutely a regular here. This restaurant is exactly what this area needed. Beautiful cafe-like interior, very friendly staff, and phenomenal food! I go in and always order the Original Gyro. The consistency is insane and the recipe is perfect. The cooks know how to work in a way that works. I often see Papa Gyro himself in the restaurant, he's always greeting customers and conversing with them. I think he's mentioned he makes the Baklava himself! I also always go for a pastry if I have the extra $$. They're fantastic. I recommend this place to my friends all the time. Love em. May be a tad pricey, but much better than anything you could get at mcdonald's for the same money. read more

I visited on a Wednesday about 11:30 for lunch. Parking could be a challenge given it is connected to a gas station and there are not many parking spots. I was lucky and found one right in front. There is a drive through should you not want to go inside. As you see in the pics the place is not very big, 4 tables and a bar area that seat 4 - 5 people. The service is excellent and the food mirrors the service. I understand why Yelp ranked it 12th in the nation. I had the Gyro with fries combo and it was very good. If you had a gyro before it is about the same; however, the service which is very attentive, makes this place special. While there dining, the place was quite busy so if you want to dine in, get there early. Overall great spot and I recommend. I do plan on visiting again. read more

Well, here's one that -is- "amazing" . . . for the amazing quality of its HOSPITALITY. The owner, Mister Batsios always seems to be there and "hands on," and his Detroit-based family roots in the hospitality business seems to have filtered down through all the other ranks on his staff. You feel valued, welcomed, and totally "in good hands" . . . an all-too-rare feeling, these days. The food is very solid. And, again, features many staples of that great food city: Motown: Detroit, Michigan --- particularly the iconic Coneys, in various styles. OK, I always lust for "just a bit more" "crust and char" on my gyro meat there, but that is a tiny quibble in the light of this little -- and it is a small premises, be prepared! -- gem in Katy. I loved the food and the front staff was top tier ! Unfortunately there was a lady working there I believe to clean the tables that wouldn't stop looking at us and made eating there very uncomfortable so uncomfortable my kid started complaining about her I love when the staff is attentive but staring while I'm eating and enjoying my meal with my family is a little too much. I really wanted to try dessert but we were too uncomfortable to stay any longer. There lemonade from the soda machine is the best highly recommended and the chicken gyro with a frito pie! This spot is very COVID conscious. They have hand sanitizer at the counter and they sanitize menus between customers. Staff wears gloves & masks. My husband is from Chicago & always craves an Italian beef combo. As a kid he worked at Portillo's and knows good Italian beef, but as anyone from the Chi knows it's kinda hard to find that here in Houston. We've been to Chicago's on Airline and he thought it was just meh ‍. So, for his birthday I started the hunt again and happened upon Papa Gyro. I told him I was taking him to a "foodie find" & he was gonna have a foodie culinary experience. You should have seen the eye roll cause in his head we were going to a "stuffy" restaurant. Boy was he surprised when I pulled into the Shell gas station parking lot Don't be alarmed 1st timers or foodie snobs this little gem is a nice secret especially for those not living in the Katy area. Why have 2 picnic tables outside for dining & the inside is small. Luckily we were there when no one was inside. An added bonus is that they have a drive through and you can order to-go. Well, in less than 5 seconds the husband new what he wanted - Italian combo with peppers, wet. I on the other hand need a few additional seconds before settling on a good 'ole Chicago hot dawg. I'm a sucker for the sport peppers! And why not, I ordered some calamari just for the heck of it. The food came out quickly, much to my surprise since the drive they was busy and several people had already been in and out for pick up orders. Well, just as fast as my husband ordered is almost as fast as he devoured his combo. Good thing I remembered to take a picture of it. When I asked him how it was he said "nothing will ever beat Portillo's in my opinion but this will do". I'm pretty sure he liked it. Me in the other hand a slow eater. The calamari was very tender. I was concerned it might be rubbery but it was fried perfectly and the calamari was very tender. I really enjoyed it. My hot dogs were great. The hot was in natural casing and had that quality snap that you get from a good hot dawg. We will return to try the gyro which looked really good. Someone ordered a gyro salad and it was humongous! So beware salad lovers. We had a great experience and it was a nice way to kick off hubby's birthday weekend. The staff was very friendly. Mitchell was a hoot! We enjoyed joking around with him. Man I forgot how good the gyro meat is here! I always order the GYRO sandwich by itself ($7.99), and my hubby always gets the GYRO PLATE ($12.99). The plate has a lot of food- double the meat of the gyro sandwich, 4 slices of pita (basically a whole pita), salad, & rice. The gyro meat is so flavorful and tender. I love how it's sliced thinly and has crispy edges. They have other things on the menu (Italian beef sandwich looks good!), but I can't come here and not get a gyro! Service here is excellent. They always check up on you. There's also a drive-thru which was pretty busy during lunch Saturday, but it seemed to move fast. It's a small but popular restaurant. Heard so many good things about Pappa Gryos, but I live so far away...but, today we were in the neighborhood. I had the Gryos (I love them!), Frito Pie, and a drink. Girlfriend had the Clam Strip Basket, comes with French Fries and a drink. Nice interior, lots of seating, employees were friendly. Portions were huge, and flavor was great! Ok after all the reviews and recommendations from my foodies friends, I finally got a chance to try this place. I waited two visits to write a review on this place. First of all is located in the Shell gas station. Or next to the convenient store so at times you have to fight for that parking. The store has a very limited seating and again you have to fight for seating at times. The portions of both my visit was massive, lots of spices and sauces to make your taste buds tickle. The portion kabo plate was massive is size and the dressing on the salad was delicious. The ingredients was fresh and tasty. The gyro plate the meat was kind of dry on my order, so really did not like it. The people are super friendly here, they will offer for refills even for self serve. This is the best place in Houston for Chicago Italian Beef. I've tried 4 or 5 other places. The bread was the deal breaker. Not here though. It's a really, really good beef for Houston. I have been there twice now and will continue to go back to try more things on their menu. Don't get off put by the fact that they are attached to a gas station and have no rest room because the food is worth it. It's a family business and their customer service is great! They have a frozen drink there that I really like that's like a milk shake with a hint of ginger ale...ask them about it and they will give you a sample to try! Everything that we have had there has been good so far: all the gyros, baklava, hummus, fries, pilaf,salad, and skewers. The one thing that I want to try is the beef sandwich since I see so many great reviews about it and will definitely provide an update once that happens! Very delicious! First time I went I got the gyro plate which was so good. Second time I went, I got the Philly cheesesteak pita with fries. OMG so good. The meat was so fresh and cut very thinly just like the really Philly cheesesteak! Service is fast! The place, however, is very small because it's attached to the gas station - but it's very cozy. The owner is always there making sure everyone is happy. Will definitely come back next time I crave Greek. Want to try their desserts next time :) read more
