We were seated quickly. Drinks were served just as quickly. The refills were also filled quickly. It was interesting and very charming with outside seating, but very dark. Most recipes were fish or seafood with a very strong Creole influence. One guest ordered the Crusted salmon with lump crab, with puréed potatoes. One ordered a filet with the lump crab. No bread or special was served while waiting, as we are frequently accustomed to in nicer restaurants. The salmon was very good. Not so the filet. It was very stringy appears they had not trimmed the silver skin, which is odd, unusual to find so much silver on a good filet. Stay away from the steaks and stick to the Creole.
Worth the Drive! It's not often I'd consider driving 4.5 hours just to eat at a restaurant again--but Pappadeaux in Springdale, OH absolutely earned that honor. While visiting the Cincinnati area, we decided to give it a try despite mixed Yelp ratings, and wow... the heavens opened and the angels sang. The food, service and setting were outstanding. First, ask for Nick--phenomenal service. Portions are huge: between two of us, we shared one appetizer, one gumbo, one entrée, and one dessert and still had enough leftovers for another full meal. I also have a food allergy, which can make dining out stressful, but not here. Both our waiter and the manager asked all the right questions, and the kitchen took special care to accommodate me. That extra attention meant a lot, and I'm truly grateful. The Shrimp & Crawfish Fondue is reason alone to come here--rich, indulgent, and unforgettable. The sausage and seafood gumbo was loaded with real lump crab meat (okra included--not my preference, but still tasty). The star of the night was the grouper topped with jumbo crab, easily one of the best-prepared seafood dishes I've ever had. Dessert sealed the deal: praline bread pudding with coffee. I'm not usually a bread pudding fan, but this cobbler-style version was spectacular. Our entire drive home was spent talking about how incredible the experience was. This is exactly the kind of meal that makes dining out feel worth every penny. Well done, Pappadeaux--we'll be back, and I only wish you had a location in Nashville!
Greeted with a smile immediately upon entry, the entrance to the front door was so pretty, nice greenery and fountains and potted plants such as nice upscale vibe which continued into the restaurant, everything flowed beautifully. The server was attentive and brought a refill of immediately once I drank my water down a bit. The food came out quickly, we had a group of 6 of us and were able to split bread and calamari & octopus , the medium size was plenty for everyone to get a bit. It was delicious and I loved the spicy cocktail sauce that it came with. The accompanying garlic bread was really tasty too. My entree didn't last very long at all! The charr on the bacon wrapped shrimp was superb. The garlic butter on the side was flavorful and complimented the dish beautifully. The dirty rice was super yummy and I couldn't help but be the first from the party of 6 to finish. It was filling but didn't feel too heavy. I'll definitely be back as this is a new favorite of mine.
Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen located in Cincinnati, OH Food: I Visted with a party of five, we order crab cakes, Cobb salad, gumbo, chicken tenders and shrimp. The Cobb salad was impressive, the chicken tenders complemented everything that going on with it. Everyone loved the shrimp and crab cakes. Service: Great service, things started off slow when the hostess told us it a 30 minute wait and the restaurant was particularly empty (low staff). Nevertheless we were seated within 10-15 minutes. Ambiance: I love the decor and overall ambiance each no matter where you dine looks exactly the same outside with the fountains and patio seating also inside from the bar and dining areas.
I went to Pappadeaux for lunch for my birthday 7/28 and I was very disappointed! The inside is always stunning and clean but it doesn't make up for the service we had. 1st I went specifically for the alligator and that changed. It is a smaller portion I really only had about 10 pieces and the new sauce that comes with it doesn't match the taste of alligator in my opinion. I talk to my server about the size difference and he said I had the largest size they offer and made it a large for us but didn't ask if that was what I wanted. The service was super slow we were there from 1:15pm to around 3:45pm. We asked for napkins and never received them and then it took more than 15 mins to get the check. My food came out wrong I asked for blacked catfish with red beans and rice but then received my meal and it was fried fish that actually didn't have too much flavor so I had to send my food back. The highlight of my time there was the birthday dessert and I got the turtle brownie. Sadly I don't think I will be returning to Pappadeaux after this visit.
Second time here, my last was 5 years ago. Today we had an excellent server, Denzel, who was attentive without being intrusive, friendly and overall a great waiter. The three of us started with drinks, and had roasted. oysters for our appetizer. They were cheesy and delicious. We ordered the garlic bread which was sooo good: buttery, cheesy , crisp yet soft. We also had the house bread, warm and crispy and I could have ended the meal right there. I had the shrimp gumbo which was flavorful without being overwhelming or too spicy. It paired well with the bread. My husband had crawfish etouffee, a good sized portion served over rice , well seasoned and tasty. Our friend had the shrimp Alfredo, not too heavy as is typical with Alfredo dishes , but also delicious. We were not going to have any dessert as we were stuffed with leftovers to go, but we saw Denzel carrying a slice of key lime pie to the adjacent table and couldn't resist. It was light and creamy with a primarily graham cracker crust.....mmmmmm. Couldn't finish that, either. Once again, Denzel was outstanding which increased our overall enjoyment. Beautiful setting, clean and spacious although intimate at the same time.
We hadn't been to Pappadeaux in many, many years. The first thing I noticed was the interior hasn't changed a bit. This isn't necessarily a bad thing because it looks just like it did many, many years ago, i.e. just as clean with nothing feeling old or dated. We had reservations on a Thursday at 5 PM for six. Our waiter was kind and got everything off to a great start. He didn't make a lot of visits to the table after the food arrived, but he seemed to be there when we needed him. I can only speak to what Mark and I ate and it was delicious. I had the Seafood Tagliatelle Pasta. It was a LOT of food. The flavor was great and the octopus was definitely the star. It was the most plentiful pasta topping in the bowl and I was more than fine with that. It was tender and delicious. Mark had the Rib Eye. He ordered it medium rare. When it arrived, the waiter mentioned the kitchen had overcooked it and he was going to bring another. Before he left, Mark tried it and it seemed perfect. It looked medium rare to me. Mark loved it. Even though it's been years, I remember the food always being very good. I'm glad to see the taste of the food, like the decor, hasn't changed.
First time officially going to a Cajun style restaurant and what a great first impression. The restaurant is so neat inside and so cozy outside that just stepping on it you feel at the right place. The food is incredible, I had the classic catfish Po-boy and shrimp gumbo and both tasted amazing, well-seasoned, the bread was spectacular by the way and the gumbo was rich and tasty. The fried alligator was phenomenal, crispy and juicy and the sauce that came with was out of this world. My wife had the seafood skewer with rice and no complaints, super delicious rice. I'm coming back here next time I'm in Cincinnati.
If you're looking for a seafood feast that truly delivers, the Papadeaux platter from Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen is absolutely worth it. The portion size alone is impressive--this platter easily fed three people with food still left over, which makes it a great value for sharing. Everything came out hot, crispy, and packed with flavor. The fried shrimp were perfectly golden with a satisfying crunch, and the fish was tender and well-seasoned. The variety on the plate kept every bite interesting, and the dipping sauces complemented everything really well. Service-wise, the food did take a little longer to come out, but once it hit the table, it was clear why--everything tasted fresh and made to order. In this case, the wait was definitely worth it. Overall, this is the kind of meal you go out for when you want to indulge a little and leave full (with leftovers!). Highly recommend if you're dining with a group or just want to treat yourself to a hearty seafood spread.
Picked a busy day to go here . (Valentines Day) buts always SO good! We waited for a few extra mins on our reservation and the doorway was very crowded. They need to upgrade this area to make it more comfortable for the people waiting to be seated. We ordered the gator bites and shrimp cocktail which were phenomenal! We usually get complementary bread but today we had to ask Nicholas for it. The service was a bit slow and time management was an issue for our waiter. Although he was very polite and apologetic about our appetizers coming to the table at the same time as our entrees. The manager came over and also apologized. Overall the food is always delicious, fresh and we will be back .
Basically OVERPRICED and over spiced! The seafood was either drenched in butter or sauce which masked the flavor even though we told our waitress LIGHT SAUCE. Our server was fine but she offered us garlic bread without telling us it was extra. On top of that, the bread was overly spiced and when we complained, she brought out a loaf of plain bread but at least didn't charge us for it. The house chardonnay was a whopping $79 a bottle which jacked our bill to almost $200. We could have gotten a better meal at a first rate steakhouse for less. We won't be coming back here anytime soon.
Pappadeaux's has always been high up on my list of seafood restaurants to try due to all of the positive reviews I had heard from family members and friends. So, I was very surprised when we (my parents, daughter, and I) did not have the same positive experience that many of my other family members and friends had previously had. Service - Our service was extremely poor. Our server forgot about one of the appetizers we had ordered (oysters), she left empty dishes/plates on our table (from our appetizers and salads) that there was literally no room for our dinner plates when they arrived, and she never came back around for refills of our drinks until she handed us our bill. Food - Please see my reviews below. Garlic Bread - This was good! These were thick slices of toast coated in scampi style butter and oregano. Yum! Lobster Bisque - This was also good; however, I found a tiny piece of lobster shell in the bisque while I was eating it. The bisque is rich in flavor and has large chunks of lobster in it! So good! House Salad - This was your typical house salad. Pasta Mardi Gras - This was my dish and I couldn't even eat half of it - it was so salty! The sausage and shrimp were extremely overcooked as well! Seafood Pasta - This was my mom's dish. She enjoyed it, but agreed that her pasta was super salty as well. She enjoyed the octopus the most in her dish - she said that it was nice and tender! Texas Red Fish and Crab - This was my dad's dish. It seemed to be a healthier dish and was made into a smaller portion. There was very little crab as well. We ended up adding a baked potato to the dish so that it seemed a little more full. The baked potato was extra large in size. My dad said that he enjoyed his dish! I really liked the sauce to this dish too! Parmesan Buttered Noodles - This was my daughter's dish. She enjoyed them as she cleaned her plate! Our bill was $200 and I honestly do not feel that the food nor service were worth that cost! I am not sure that I would ever go back...sorry!

I've always heard about this place but never had opportunity to go until this past October. My close friend and I went and we had a great time the way it was longer than anticipated, but nevertheless, we were seated and we both ordered the Atlantic Salmon Alexander. It has salmon, dirty rice, scallops and that sauce was the best. I would highly recommend. Make sure you pair it with a drink that you like. Just not the WATER. read more

Justin B. was my server. He was attentive and outstanding. One of the best servers ever. The dining area is beautiful. Peaceful and serene atmosphere at dinnertime. Everything was so clean......even the restrooms. Our food was absolute perfection. The Pappadeaux House Salad is one of the best salads I have ever had at any restaurant.The Alligator Appitizer was excellent. I am from Florida and this Alligator was tender and fried just right. The sauce that accompanied it was so tasty. The Grouper and crab was good. The size of the grouper was quite large. My Crawfish Combination was also good. I had enough to take home and make another meal. Pappadeaux is my new favorite restaurant in Cincinnati. If you have not been here....You are missing out on some good food. If you have never been here it is definitely worth a try. It's a place I always recommend for birthdays or celebrations. Getting their season food is always a good move since it is fresh. I was sad to see grits were no longer a dinner side, but these carrots were a great addition to my meal. (Not pictured) We ordered the greek salad and it was amazing! It wasn't as packed as previous years, but I would still recommend making a reservation for dinner. Lunch tends to be less busy. read more

I hadn't been to Pappadeaux in yearrrrs. I just never find my way to that side of town. Yesterday we had a family celebration there and boy am I glad that we did! We had reservations but still had to wait a little bit to be seated. The waiting area is small and there were a lot of other folks waiting too, so we had to stand a while and kind of felt in the way. Once seated we were served our ordered drinks quickly and warm bread with soft butter. Our server took great care of us, very attentive, and addressed all needs! My Rosé all Day Sangria was refreshing and my Shrimp, Scallop, and Jumbo Lump Crab Tagliatelle Pasta AMAZING. There was seafood in nearly every bite and the cream sauce was fantastic. I'm such a creature of habit I can't imagine ordering anything else when I go back (and I will be back more often now). I just finished my leftovers (because the entrees here are HUGE and definitely shareable) and it was just as good reheated. read more

I have a strong belief in if you can't say nothing nice, say nothing. But in this instance, must update my review from years past. While the food remains delicious the service is less than poor. It is shame for an establishment like this to not properly train their staff. From the greeters to the wait staff, congeniality is not in their repertoire. It was more than clear that our waitress was far from interested in doing her job. From receiving the incorrect meal, to being dismissive when asked for a dessert menu, her demeanor was crude to say the least. The wait for 2 people was 2 hours long. Which is typical and indicative of the food and drinks here. My husband and I lucked out and got two seats at the bar immediately so we didn't have to wait the 2 hours. It looks to me like the menu changed. For the better in my opinion. I ordered the Crawfish Etouffee Platter which came with fried crawfish, dirty rice and crawfish Etouffee. My husband ordered fried shrimp and dirty rice. My crawfish platter was so delicious I ordered another one to go. (When I realized how much I paid for it I was mad at myself for the extra order because I didn't need it but it was that good!) For cocktails I first ordered a Garden of Eden. It was great as usual but then we noticed others around us were all drinking this colorful masterpiece. When we inquired we were told it was the 3-wheel motion. OMG. It has like 3 or 4 different liquors in it. It was delicious and gets you a buzz quickly. So be mindful if driving. We ended up getting a hotel for the night instead of driving back to Louisville. Before changing to the 3-wheel motion my husband tried the Tango Mango. It was a bit too lemony. Service was great! We tipped her accordingly! I'm glad we had the experience we had because our bill was almost $200 and I would've been upset about spending that much on a piss poor experience. read more

I'm shocked that I'm even giving this place a bad review. Let's start with the fact that this is one of my favorite seafood restaurants. I was really excited to have dinner here. When I say I literally told a few of my family members and friends that I was coming here today. I was that excited. Well it's my first time at this specific location. I could not tell where the front entrance was. I just parked where I saw all the cars parked and it happened to be the back of the restaurant. I didn't even know it was the back until I entered. I walk in what looks like the back of the restaurant. There's one employee sitting down looking like he was on a little break. I walked by him and ended up walking by the bar extremely confused because not only was I struggling to recognize where was the main entrance, not one employee even cared to greet me or guide me or ask me where would I like to sit. So I just sat myself at the bar. I sat one chair away from these two female customers. They brought me the menu and I order my seafood gumbo and halibut shrimp which was delicious. But I'm also observing the employees behavior and service. The two girls that was sitting next to me had the employees most undivided attention. Which is absolutely great. But why didn't I get any attention? Let's start with the gumbo. After the bartender brought me the gumbo. She just walks away. She looked busy which I was a bit confused because there were only 4 customers sitting at the bar with myself included. So I sat there to see how long would it take for the bartender to ask me if I needed anything because I wanted some tabasco sauce. While the two girls next to me was given tabasco sauce and utensils etc without them even having to ask. Another waiter asks me if I needed anything. I said yes tabasco please. Shortly after my entree arrives. Wow the plate just looked amazing. I can tell it was going to taste really good. It kind of felt racial as well since I'm Puerto Rican but I look American and the girls that they gave their undivided attention to were black. And the employees that ignored me are also black. I never experienced these kind of issues from my own people. Very sad. And with a $70 tab. They need to do better. But guess what??? No one brought me any utensils to eat my food. Guess how long it took anyone to notice that I was trying to get their attention? 8 minutes! It took 8 minutes for her to ask do you need anything? I said yes no one has given me any utensils to eat my food. And can you believe not even an apology? I was calm and collective the entire time but when I'm upset, it shows. My facial expressions show for itself. But while also waiting those entire 8 minutes. I took a picture of several of the employees near me. All of them talking to each other and not paying attention to the customers and none of them even noticed I took pictures of all them and I made it obvious. And the way they passed me the check like if they was disgusted with me. They didn't even ask me if I wanted desert. And I was going to order desert but the way they brought me my tab like if they was disgusted with me. I'm surprised I didn't bother asking to speak to a manager. Pappadeaux Seafood never disappoints! They have made some changes since our last visit. We live in Indy so we can't come as much as we would like. The changes did not hurt the taste or quality of the food. I ordered my usual swamp thing but hubby went for the purple voodoo. I went for the large since well why not...lol. We started with the shrimp and crawfish fondue-- it was excellent. This was a new dish for us. Cheesy and full of seafood and spanich. The French bread was perfect for dipping. I always order the Greek salad-- I love that they make it at the table and ask if you want all of the ingredients. They changed the lettuce selection- it enhanced the flavor. I went for my usual-- the lump crab cakes. They are sooo good! The flavor and lump crab all the way through. It is still my favorite. Hubby got the catfish with shrimp, mussels, and dirty rice. He said it was awesome. The portions were huge so he took half home. I was full from the fondue and salad so I took most of my crab cakes home. The server took us to this smaller room off to the side of the bar. At first I wasn't sure about it but when the other tables left it felt intimate and romantic. A friend from Texas recommended this restaurant saying how it has the best seafood. As a seafood lover, I got to give it a try! Their seafood were all catch daily! We ordered the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas, Shrimp, Scallop & Spanish Octopus Pappardelle Pasta, and fried alligator. Fried alligator was actually pretty good. Was starving and actually forgot to let my phone eat first ): I got Mississippi Catfish Opelousas with broccolini. The catfish was actually so big and thick! Thicker than the ones in cracker barrel. Absolutely love it. But the broccolini was actually a bummer... Was told it's a bigger broccoli and I was like why not. I love broccoli. But it actually tasted like the illegitimate child of broccoli and asparagus... That don't taste like broccoli.... The seafood pasta was pretty good too. Flavorful and rich! The only downside to it is... This is one expensive meal! The price point of it was rather high. Other than that, it's definitely worth trying! read more

I literally went to Pappadeaux thee next day when I recently found out Happy Hour was back. Pre-Covid HH offered a lot more at cheaper prices (obviously), but this new HH did not disappoint. Mini appetizers were offered for around $11.95. I enjoyed HH so much, man did I miss it. I've been to Pappadeaux a million and one times and can only remember one "off" time. We don't go as often as we used to years ago but man.."I still do," lol I'm still in love. My favorite dishes are as follows: any salmon dish, shrimp & crab fondeaux, fried alligator, fried oysters, stuffed crab, Mississippi catfish opelousas, classic caesar, shrimp & grits, seafood cobb salad. The only thing that would be absolutely perfect is if they bring a Papacitas to Cincy. read more

My mom and I were kinda hungry after a full day, so we decided to come back to this place. We had tried out the location in Phoenix awhile ago and wanted to see what this was about. After looking online, I added myself to the waitlist (via text) so that it would be a quicker checkin process upon arrival. Glad I did since it was poppin when we arrived. They have ample parking and unfortunately it started to rain, so we dined indoors. After checking in with the hostess, we were told it would be another 10-15 minute wait. We excused ourselves for the restroom and upon returning, got a notification that we were ready to be seated. We got quickly seated and the server was quick with the menus and drink options. It took a bit of time to figure out what to eat, but we settled on the Cobb Salad (split for 2 people), Mixed Grill (off the lunch menu but my mom was able to dine off there since she met the senior citizen criteria), Salmon and Thai Noodles, and all of these came with their delicious bread. We got the salads and bread somewhat quickly (although I noticed that certain sections had expedited service compared to other sections, even if they were seated later). The huge portions were what I had forgotten about. We pretty much ate our salads and half of the bread but took only a couple of bites of our entrées before boxing them to take home. The server was kind enough to give us extra (full loaf of) bread to enjoy with our food at a later time. She was nice and helpful with suggesting items on the menu. As for ambiance, it was a bit dimly lit and medium sounds--you could hear more people over the music. Overall a great experience and delicious food. I guess it's been awhile since I've dined at this restaurant because I was unprepared for the sticker shock of the menu pricing. It was worth it but I think the only thing with room for improvement would be the reservation system and also the expediency of service (so that it is quick and efficient all around as opposed to providing certain tables with preferential treatment. read more
