I ordered the Short rib pappardelle, my wife the pork chop saltimbocca. Both dishes very very good. My SIL had the branzino (as usual) and my BIL had the stuffed pork chop Valdostano. We really enjoyed our meals... the service was very attentive and it's a BYOB. Easily recommendable. read more

This is a BYOB Italian restaurant near the corner in Montclair. We stopped by for late lunch and ordered the seafood risotto, bolognese, and fried artichoke. Everything was tasty but surprisingly I think the standout was the fried breaded artichoke. I am starting off 2025 with just telling the truth so others who are looking for a place for dinner get real ratings and not some inflated friends or whatever ratings that just aren't true. Let me start by saying that I am aware how difficult it must be to be successful restaurant owner/business and by no means am I trying to hurt a business by telling my side of the dining experience. In the past if I was not happy with the dining experience I wouldn't even give a yelp rating or a write-up. This will not be the case anymore,the restaurants inflate the prices and lower the portion sizes and lower the quality of the ingredients ,I am then now forced to let others know of my experience. Arrived on a saturday with a party of 10 .We are then escorted to a table in the back of the restaurant which seemed like it was the employee eating tables. Tables were smaller than the rest .There was no way this was going to work with the group being all men and knees and elbows touching each other the reason is because that's the only table they had and they had a catering party wrapping things up. I on a personal note did not like being walked to my table in front of a large family who have obviously rented the restaurant out for a party.(It was like -The looks on the peoples faces were all like who the hell are these guys.)Ok enough of the stupid shit. The food was Overpriced!Low quality ! Small portions, and doesn't deserve more than 2 stars._I say this not trying to hurt the business,but maybe the business could get better with some feedback? The bread and the dipping sauce was very good,I really liked the grated cheese in the olive oil.And the bread was warm and fresh. The Table ordered Calamari,The burrata,Mussels,stuffed mushrooms for appetizers for the table to share. Mushrooms were a plate of maybe 6 shrooms and super tiny not good at all. The only thing was it was real crabmeat,the flavor profile was not good. Calamari was a 2 out of 5 the red sauce was basic. Mussels ,I have had better from pizzerias.The burrata was a waste and never tried it ,definitely over priced. My entree was a Medium rare Filet mignon with broccoli and fries-$40.00 I know,I am at a italian restaurant so what do I expect when I order a steak. It was cooked a little over Medium rare I would say medium . It was horrible,chewy and no flavor at all ,not even some salt. I asked for Mashed potatoes and the waiter was a little rude when he kept saying whatever is on the menu. So fries it was with the broccoli . I will tell you this,the broccoli is not fresh and defianetly frozen and the filet must have been frozen when ordered it and defrosted in a microwave to make it so chewy-I used to to cook in restraunts Started at TGIF ,Worked in a pizzeria and cooked steaks for ruth Chris. I will point out the rest of the table had no complaints.The star of the night was the pork Osso Bucco they all loved it. The Overall view was from the rest of the guys was it was ok give it a C. Bottom line was the ingredients they use are not the best, the recipes are not that great,and the price is to inflated for my liking . Save your money! We were really looking forward to dining at Parpadelle, especially after hearing good things and seeing a promising menu. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing. We ordered the specials, expecting a memorable meal...and it was, but for all the wrong reasons. To our shock and disgust, we found hair in our food. This is completely unacceptable at any restaurant, especially one that positions itself as a higher end Italian spot. It ruined the entire meal and left us questioning the kitchen's cleanliness and overall standards. We brought the issue to the staff's attention, but the response felt underwhelming and dismissive. No sincere apology, no real attempt to make things right. It was incredibly disappointing and not what you'd expect from a place like this. Sadly, we won't be returning. On a Saturday afternoon, this off-center Montclair Italian Restaurant was quiet. As me and my friend entered, we were promptly greeted, coats taken, and candle lit. The environment was a standard restaurant but overall extremely well kept. This establishment is BYOB and they offer ice buckets for wine as well. In terms of the food, everything was absolutely delicious and flavorful. I couldn't recommend this place more if I tried! Definitely want to go back to try something else. read more

My family and I have come here a few times and each time it doesn't disappoint. The one thing I'd say to avoid is their tiramisu - it is something that's more pineapple flavored... absolutely NOT tiramisu. It wasn't to my liking because I was expecting traditional tiramisu. Wonderful. Highly recommend. We dined her as a party of three, two old friends plus a self described 'not that adventurous eater' who is 12. My friend and I ordered from the menu and enjoyed ORECCHIETTE ALLA NOSTRA and LOBSTER RAVIOLI, delicate layers of flavor, appropriate portion size, deeply satisfying main courses. Our good spirited 'not that adventurous' eater ordered 'off menu' and had a simply prepared, and delicious linguine in butter with sautéed chicken topped with parmigiana. I tried all three, all were excellent. A good friend, former professional chef, once noted, restaurants that nail the simple stuff show how talented the kitchen is. They nailed the off menu linguine... so you can only imagine how wonderful the ORECCHIETTE ALLA NOSTRA and LOBSTER RAVIOLI must have been. Our entrees were framed by a very nice appetizer and a very enjoyable dessert. This restaurant has great atmosphere, a lovely environment and kind staff. Highly recommend. It's BYOB, like many in the area. Nice reasonably priced liquor store about a block away. This is off the main strip so easier to get a reservation and park. My family and I have been catering to this business for a few years and recently had a birthday celebration a and was truly shocked by some of the extra hidden fees that were not disclosed prior to the reservation. We have had other parties here and all was always disclosed and upfront in the past. Have also noticed some of the prices on simple dishes have been exuberantly raised. Will certainly start looking for a local replacement due to our favorite maitre d is no longer here and that was a big plus as the other gentlemen lacks service skills. We are thankful for Jordi as he helped us, but can express anything positive about rest of staff. read more

3 1/2 stars. Enjoyed dinner with another couple. Lovely intimate interior with very small table for 4 people. The waiter expanded our table after we complained. For starters we had the caesar salad, tomato & mozzarella salad, & calamari. All were good. For dinner we had the bolognese with fresh pappardelle and the sole and shrimp. It was good but there was hardly any meat in the bolonese - it was good but disappointing. We enjoyed the carrot cake and expresso for dessert. One coffee came out cold. I've been to this restaurant many times over the past few years and was always happy. In fact, we brought family or friends at various times. The waiters seem to recognize us and are always friendly. Tonight, it was disappointing in a few ways. We had a party of 7 people to celebrate 2 birthdays. Our salads came out quickly and were delicious. The waiter was attentive and friendly. The entrees took much too long and we watched 2 tables that arrived after us get served and finish and leave the restaurant while we were still waiting. 45 minutes later I finally said something to the waiter and they responded by bringing over our empty plates. We waited another 15 minutes and then finally the entrees were delivered. No apology, no recognition that something in the kitchen went wrong; disappointing. However, the biggest disappointment was the steak which I ordered MEDIUM. It arrived red and looked raw. I called over one of the staff to see it. He quickly took it back to the kitchen. Several minutes later it came back WELL-DONE. After waiting so long for it to arrive the first time and then again for it to be recooked and redelivered, I was not going to make a fuss again and delay the meal even longer for our large party. Toward the end of the meal I called over and told our waiter of my disappointment and he seemed annoyed, rolled his eyes, walked away quickly in a bit of a huff without saying a word. He didn't apologize and then quietly took it off the bill without letting me know. I discovered it was not on the bill when I reviewed it prior to paying. I had not asked for it to be taken off. Communication was zero from the waiter. His attitude of annoyance in light of the circumstances seemed out of place and made my entire table uncomfortable. Everyone in the party saw the eyes roll and his quick silent walk away from our table with obvious annoyance. This was not a great way to spend a birthday night out. read more

Can here on a Saturday night, the restaurant is located across from The Corner cafe. There's lots of street parking but it's only free after 7 pm Monday- Saturday, free all day Sunday. Ambience of restaurant was nice, but service was slow and water was only filled when requested. The pasta was soft and chewy but small in portion compared to how much sauce it was bathing in and a little pricey. My friend did enjoy their mushroom ravioli though. There's also a transaction charge added to the bill which we were confused about but it seems like they add it if you pay with a card. read more

Quiet Italian spot in Montclair - we enjoyed our meal but thought it was a bit pricey for the portion sizes. The fried artichoke salad was a refreshing start. We had the Veal Juan which was tasty but a very thin, small portion. The Pappardelle Chicken Tarantella was also a bit sparse on the pasta and wish the green sauce was creamier. Also feel like the dishes could have been plated more attractively. Ambiance is on the quieter side, which is nice for conversation. Service was attentive, but no one was wearing a mask. read more

Tonight was our first time....and the LAST! My wife and one of our friends ordered the branzino. It was simply not edible. It even smelled strange. We asked for our check and was surprised that they did not remove the fish charges from the bill. The waiter had the nerve to argue that no one else in the restaurant complained. Here's the deal ! Love the inside of this byob place Inside is a cozy, intimate place. The menu has variety of options and the pasta is homemade. Portions are suitable for the entree $ point. Stuffed pork chop was very good. The pasta with salmon was ok. Penne vodka was good . Arugula w/ shrimp was good ... the place was very nice ! Cozy ! The food was just "good".. the appetizers ordering was a bit strange because the server said each app is for "1 person". Upon ordering the Thai calamari & Rock Shrimp appetizers should be shared by the table we ordered 5 appetizers and we should've 2! That seems to be an expensive "misunderstanding" by our server. Came in for lunch today. Excellent service cute little restaurant reminds me of being in Paris with the French doors going outside I had to Popper deli in my guest had the gnocchi with Bolognese. Everything was delicious I'm hot they put good bread on the table with a dipping sauce, made with olive oil, grated cheese, and some hot pepper flakes. We came here for a family dinner. It was my birthday and we began our meal with my husband and kids toasting me "Happy Birthday." FYI, this is a BYOB...Why is this important? Because at the end of the night, the waiters came over with strawberries and whip cream and a candle and sang Happy Birthday to me. For the reviews that said the waiters were not attentive, this was not my experience whatsoever. The food was amazing-we had apps-baked clam's and fried artichoke-both were delicious. Our entrees were lobster ravioli, linguini with clams and capellini with shrimp fra diavolo. All of us were very happy with our meals. We ended the night with desserts and cappuccino -bread pudding and lava cake. Everything was so delicious. The restaurant was very cute inside and comfortable-I was happy with our meal. I have very good reason to believe that most of the reviews that juiced this place up to 4+ stars are fake. Lots of Maryland and Massachusetts profiles reviewing this place. Everything was BAD and overpriced. $25 for burrata appetizer that was fried yet the cheese was cold $14 for a Caesar salad made of yellow romaine with barely anything on it. Every single pasta was overcooked. Sauce tasted like it came from a jar. Place smells like urinal cakes. This restaurant has nothing to do with Italian food at all. It's a cash grab. This is a really great place. The food is very very good although I would say not authentic italian. The ambiance is so fun with nice music and lighting and the waitstaff is absolutely the best. I wish its pricing were more like a neighborhood restaurant as I would go 4x as much as I do. We made an 8pm reservation and arrived on time to a packed place, stood there in the tiny front area waiting with several others and finally seated at 8:30; didn't seem to matter that we had a reservation. It is VERY loud when busy, so this is not a romantic place, not that we needed that. We came for the great food reviews, but didn't think it was phenomenal, def. good, yes. Sauce was slightly salty, salmon cooked well, but the dish did not have much flavor at all. Husband said his shrimp puttanesca entree was good, not extraordinary, but pasta was fresh. The miss was the timing--we sat at 8:30pm and didn't receive our apps till almost 9:25, then 15 min later our entrees. Portions were smaller than I would have expected for the price. DECENT FOOD. TERRIBLE VALUE. My wife and I started with the fried artichoke appetizer: with its breadcrumb coating and chipotle mayo, this was totally unlike the Romans do it - but VERY tasty! $14 for four small fried artichoke pieces atop a small salad is a bit of a rip-off though. Was looking forward to bread and olive oil but the olive oil they put out had a ton of red pepper flakes and parm in it, which sounds great on paper, but made it overly hot/spicy and salty and in retrospect seems like a great way to mask the flavor of low quality olive oil. For our entrees we had two dishes: The papardelle amatriciana (the papardelle was good but the sauce doesn't adhere to it which makes it hard to eat/inappropriate for this particular dish: chunky tomato sauce seasoned with italian bacon and onion). The veal marsala was $24, but came with the equivalent of two deli slices of meat on it. Tasty but an absolute rip-off. Other diners seemed happy and the service was good though, so clearly it's appreciated by some locals. read more

For a ladies night out this is the perfect place. I love trying new places and I'm happy we came. The staff is super nice and accommodating. With my severe food allergies I had no issues ordering off the menu. As an appetizer I had the eggplant Crosta and for my entree I had blackened snapper with vegetables. So good. Our server was pleasant and helpful. It's a good thing we made a reservation because the place was booked by 7:00pm on a Friday night. One of our group got the wrong meal which he decided to just eat. 15 min later someone appeared with the correct dinner. No apology or acknowledgment of the mistake. I went to the this restaurant a few weeks ago for a friends birthday dinner. We had pappardelle in a lamb ragu which was the special that night. The service was very nice and the dishes everyone ordered were enjoyed. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of five is the heavy smell of floor cleaner upon entering this establishment and even while we were eating. I appreciate the floors, etc being clean but maybe a cleaner with less of a pungent smell would be better. Other than that it was a lovely night out. read more
