Great food and awesome wait staff love the TVs and the family vibe, definitely will be returning

I've been here a few times. Our first experience was good. We sat at the bar and had the catfish dinner. I see a lot of bad reviews on it, but we had a good meal. Maybe it was a good night. The other times we have been they are always out of something, usually tots, though last time it was chicken fried steak. The beer is good and cold. I really want to like this place but keep getting disappointed. The one in Springtown was definitely better on the one occasion we went there. read more

We were excited to check out this new sports bar-style restaurant, but unfortunately, our first visit was really disappointing. The place was so loud that our waitress could barely hear us, and our table ended up being helped by four different staff members, none of whom seemed to know what was going on. We had to ask for silverware, napkins, and a knife (which never came). When we asked for limes, we got lemons instead, and no one knew the happy hour specials -- three different people gave us "I'm not sure" as an answer. I ordered the catfish, which came out chewy and tough and felt unsafe to eat so we sent it back. When someone finally came over, they didn't introduce themselves as a manager or owner and didn't offer to remove the item from the bill -- we had to ask for that too. To make matters worse, the "catfish special" price ends up being basically the same as the regular entrée once you add sides, so there's really no deal at all. The space still looks almost exactly like the old Fuzzy's that used to be here, aside from some fresh paint. There's a small setup for live music, but it feels like the place is geared more toward being a watering hole than a restaurant. Prices are on the high side for the area and neither the food or service supports that. Overall, the staff clearly needs more training before this place is ready for prime time. Really wanted to like it, but right now, it's a one-star experience. read more

I heard the food was bad. But just speaking on my experience alone it was amazing!! Everything was so fresh! And fast! And the service was just perfect I had Kaylee (sorry if I spelled that wrong) and another server that just made the ambiance of the restaurant literally everything his name was James ! This place is an amazing bar. Kid friendly, great food! With an outdoor patio. And best believe we're coming back tomorrow morning for brunch ! read more

My Husband and I visited Pappy Jacks in Decatur Tx for the first time! The server seat us, and gave us menu! Took a waitress a few minutes to get our order and we had chosen things that had already sold out for the night! ( CFS, and Steak fingers) I changed my order to a club sandwich which they allowed me to make changes to ( double ham, no Turkey, add onions, cut the tomato) and I ordered the onion rings as my side! We ordered Lemon shots, and I also had a soda! Both were delicious! My Onion rings were hot and fresh, the sandwich came out perfect, My Husband ordered the Hamburger Steak with Gravy and said it had a real good favor but was overcooked and dry! I felt bad because I really was enjoying mine! He said he would still come back. The restaurant was clean and so was the Female restroom! The place was neat with cool decor, and I enjoyed watching them play pool! read more

Despite some of the other reviews we decided to try it. I was surprised it was pretty good. Our waiter was really nice and kept asking if we needed anything. Fun atmosphere! Music, pool tables and games. read more

I have been to this establishment twice. The first time, they were obviously understaffed but Matt did a great job taking care of us. The second visit, Alaina was our server. They both had help with food runners which meant that our food came out piping hot. The fried pickles and mushrooms were very good. The fries were a little flimsy and needed some additional seasoning but the French dip and Au Jus were perfectly seasoned and the Philly cheese steak was also very good, although it looked more like a ground beef instead of shaved beef which is traditional, but was very good nonetheless. Pay attention to the reviews. I had the chicken fried chicken and it had little chicken and a lot of breading. The baked potato that came with it was under cooked and hard. We also had the fried mushrooms. Those were good. Overall though I would pass on this place. read more

We ate at Pappy Jacks in Decatur for the first time today. The prior reviews describing it as "Fuzzys with fresh paint" are accurate, but the service and food weren't nearly as bad in our experience as the other reviews reported. The food was well prepared, if unremarkable. Prices were standard for the area. Our server, Liz, was delightful. One TV had old-time Warner Brothers cartoons on. Even without sound they're still funny. We would eat there again. read more

I'll save you some time on eating at the new Pappy Jacks on the square. Anytime we get a new restaurant in Decatur, we are of course excited bc well Deacatur.... * very slow service * almost exactly the same as Torchy's with blue paint * Bar food menu was weak - even for a bar - much better menu at Roosters * The food was absolutely horrible and cold. - I mean almost inedible. * and it smells bad Other than that it's awesome. So the food was actually pretty good and the location is top notch. One of the big things Decatur is missing is a good sport bar / grill type of place. However, the hostess seemed very uninterested in anyone coming in. Overall, not sure if it was the chaos of them being newer - or just a lackluster management. There were 3 tables with people there, 5 waitresses and hostesses, but we even saw a couple walk in and wait for a table for 10minutes and eventually gave up after the employees wouldn't leave their conversation to go seat them. Was really looking forward to this place, but overall the staff is what ruined it for me. There did seem to be a waitress in the other side who was very proactive with her two tables - so I think it was the "luck of the draw" when it came to who helped us. read more

Currently sitting at the bar in pappy jacks I ordered some fried picks and a club sandwich took 45 minutes to get my fried pickles I saw them sitting there on the kitchen counter for 30 finally asked the bartender if those were my fried pickles she said "oh dang I forgot " so now I'm here eating cold soggy fried pickles read more

Constructive thoughts from a recent visit I recently had dinner at Pappy Jacks in Decatur and wanted to share some thoughts that might help both the management and future diners. The highlight of the evening was definitely the bartender, who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and provided excellent service throughout our visit. Their friendly attitude set a great tone for the night. However, I did encounter some issues with the food. The catfish and fries were unfortunately served cold and quite greasy, with grease visibly dripping from the fries--even after a second batch was brought out. This detracted from the overall meal experience, and I believe some attention to kitchen quality and temperature control could go a long way in improving guest satisfaction. Another observation was that some of the employees serving alcohol appeared to be quite young. While they may very well be of legal age, it was noticeable and seemed unusual compared to other establishments. Ensuring that staff are trained and visibly comfortable with their responsibilities could enhance the overall professionalism of the restaurant. Overall, Pappy Jacks has a welcoming atmosphere thanks to its standout staff, but with a few tweaks in food preparation and staff presentation, it could be even better. Terrible. A burger fri place that's out of katshup ??? And 50 mins for wings and beer. Wow I just moved here but I will NOT come back.

The waitress was quick. We ordered a salad and appetizer as well as the meals quickly. It was not busy at all. After 30 minutes we had our drinks only. We paid for our drinks and left. Extremely slow kitchen. We will not be back. read more
