Cute little down home family diner. Scrambled eggs were a bit over cooked however the pancakes were large and very good. Service was slow but wait staff very friendly. I would have rounded up to 5 but we were over charged for the small ceaser salad with grilled chicken. Per the menu small salad $5.00 and added chicken $3.50. We were charged $12.50! When I mentioned that he should honor the menu price. He apologized said they were changing the menus next week and still charged us the $12.50 anyway. That's just bad business..

I looked at the excellent Yelp ratings for this place and just had to give it a go. Eight of us in my motorcycle group descended on Papy's about 8:45 in the morning. We were seated immediately. My Country Fried Steak with scrambled eggs and toast was delicious and delivered to me promptly. The other guys had a variety of entrees, and all were pleased. The restaurant and their restrooms were very clean and the decor was typical of the mom and pop diners found in rural Florida. The exterior was well maintained and the site parking was adequate. Papy's is now on our motorcycle group's list to return to in the near future.

Cute place And friendly service. I just wish the turkey club was roasted turkey breast instead of Deli meat. It would have brought the sandwich to 5 star level.

Busy place and lots of locals, which makes total sense since the food was excellent, service was excellent and this little place has a great vibe. A must stop if you are passing through.

Cute little local place, good food, attentive service. The tuna salad sandwich was good, I didn't love the onion rings but I'm weird about onions.

It's lightly breaded and fried to perfection. It is always great!!!! They have great sides like fried okra, baked beans, grits and cheese grits, green beans, fries and more. I've never tried their other fish dinners personally, but others I have been here with have and they enjoyed. Our server, Brian was friendly and attentive. It's not a fancy place, but you will definitely get a good meal here!

We were traveling from Southern Florida up to Charleston and decided to stop for a quick sandwich…read moreat Sam's St. John's Seafood. The reviews looked decent, so we figured: why not? It was clearly short-staffed -- I only saw one cashier handling things -- but the place wasn't empty. There was a big table (10 or so people) and others waiting to be seated, so I understood things might move a little slower. I ordered and was told it would be a 15-minute wait. It was raining, and our car was parked kind of far away, so I stayed inside. There were no seats available, so I sat in a vacant booth near the register in an unused area. The cashier immediately told me I couldn't sit there because it was a "clean area," which naturally raised the question... so is everything else not clean? I said, "No problem -- I'll stand outside in the rain," and she literally responded, "OK." For context on the wait time: I managed to write 97% of this review before the food showed up. The food situation didn't get better. After about 30 minutes, I told the server/cashier I couldn't wait much longer. She asked if I wanted the manager and I said that would probably be a good idea. I waited another five minutes... and instead of a manager, she came out with my food and handed me the bag. To her credit, she was very nice and apologized -- and she also told me something that explains a lot: she's trained to say "15 minutes" regardless of how long it actually takes. That's... not a great system. As for the food: the sandwich was fine for what it was, although there was a little too much bread. But the french fries and fried okra were lukewarm and soggy, which was disappointing after that wait. Bottom line: I can handle a busy place and I can handle staffing challenges -- but the attitude, the seating/rain situation, and the inaccurate wait time made this stop more frustrating than it needed to be. If you're looking for something quick, just know that "15 minutes" may not mean 15 minutes.

Stella's continues to impress with fresh ingredients and absolutely incredible bread. I wasn't sure since it being 2 years since I was here if they would have the breakfast I had last time. I was surprised they did have it so I ordered the Spanish Egg Breakfast, which came with arugula, chorizo, heirloom tomatoes, ciabatta toast, and a preserve. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the chorizo added a great smoky-spicy kick, and the heirloom tomatoes were sweet and juicy. The arugula balanced everything out with a slight peppery bite, and the ciabatta toast was just amazing--crispy on the outside, soft inside, and perfect with the preserve. I also had the Jamón Serrano Sandwich & split it with my bf. It was just as good as it sounds. The jamón serrano, manchego, and basil pesto were a perfect combination--savory, nutty, and herby--all sandwiched between that same incredible ciabatta. Every bite was fresh and flavorful. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service was friendly, though the wait was a little longer than expected. Still, the quality of the food made up for it. Definitely won't wait as long to return next time!

It looks like a store from the outside but I did see someone sitting inside sipping wine so I was intrigued. As you walk in, there is a spacious seating area at the front of the store. Then it kind of transitions into a market store. There is a counter you order food at and pay for items. There is a small bar with seating next to that as well. We browsed the market items and picked up a couple of items. We went to the counter to pay and that is when I realized you can order food and drinks. If you order something that takes time to prepare, it is brought to you at a table. Since I ordered a glass of wine, I just waited there for it and went to sit. Hubs retrieved a beer from the fridge. The owner was the individual we interacted with and he was very pleasant. There was constant traffic the entire time we were there so I hope that means they will remain in business. The prices were not too crazy and it is a perfect place to have a drink and/ or gourmet snacks. I definitely want to return and try other items on the menu.

There are a few tables outside, right by the door. There are signs that make it clear they are non smoking tables. We decided to eat inside, were seated right away and our server came quickly. She told us what some of the popular burgers were and we made our selections based on that. I had the Jamaican burger cooked medium. This burger was cooked perfectly, had good flavor, was topped with a sweet and spicy jerk sauce. It was everything that I expected. My friend had the Brie burger and his daughter had the smash burger and they both said those burgers were very good as well. Our server was attentive to our needs throughout our meal. I would definitely go back again.

Tonight was "trivia night", which, while we didn't play, we did enjoy trying to guess the answers. Our grand daughter's face was a big "O" of amazement when realizing the upper tables were enjoying roasting their marshmallows at their table...when she was told they were making s'mores...she went nuts! She's so excited to get tableside s'mores! My wings were even better than they were last time since there was an addition of seasonings sprinkled on them along with the dill pickles, but unfortunately, our cheeseburger pizza suffered from not having enough mustard and ketchup base to it, the tomatoes were enormous chunks and so were red onions. It made it very difficult to eat without things falling all over your clothing since they were such huge chunks on top of the tiny pieces of pizza. My husband got the steak bomb sub, son got a pepperoni Stromboli, daughter in law got the Sharon's Brie burger, grand daughter the child's cheeseburger and fries. Our apps were the garlic knots, mild wings (10) and fried cheese curds with sriracha ranch dipping sauce. Everything was okay, except that it took forever for everything to come out, compared to our first visit. Even our s'mores seemed to take forever. The quickest part of the whole visit was the bill . The fella that waited on us the first time was on point. Not saying that the young lady waiting on us was rude or anything, but I think she was trying to do too many things at once and some things just fell by the wayside. Last visit we came in on a Saturday as well, but perhaps some people are just better at multitasking? I don't know. This time, our bill was over $200 with tip, but we still brought home food again. Not a lot compared to the last time, only 2 little pickle wings (I still can't get enough of those darn things!) and maybe 4 slices of pizza. My husband's loaded tots weren't to his liking, so there's something even for the dog tomorrow We may stay away for awhile and see if they manage to work out some kinks. If anything, the best rule is consistency. If the food preparation is not consistent every time you go to eat there, there's a problem. There should be NO deviation just because someone else is cooking it. All recipes should be the same. Twice we've ordered the same items and they've been different. I still recommend this place for great vibes, cocktails, food and the tableside s'mores. There's just nowhere else like it!
